MEETING MINUTES

Spokane Veterans' Home Car Show - June-20-09
A car show was held for the Veterans' Retirement Home, on June 20th
from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There were 12 select cars for this car
show sponsored by the HICCA (Horseless Carriage of Spokane). Skip
Rittener put on the show for the veterans. At the car show, there were
12 old cars like: Roger Hein’s-1930 - "A", Alan & Suzie Stacey-1915 T
Roadster and Kerry Tritt-1910 Speedster and other car people. Most of
the Vets attended. A big Barbeque with provided with a band. The
food was great and the Veterans were very happy to see the cars and
tell us the stories.

time regardless of the weather (cold, overcast, but thank goodness it didn’t rain). I heard that the car count was around 189 which was great
and thrilled the people at NAPA. There were free hot dogs, some vender tents, some really fancy cars with very LOUD engines. There were a
race car or two, all years and makes, and oh yes, can’t forget that the girls from HOOTERS were washing cars for donations. Hmmm, Lyn
Doidge and Rosie Anderson of the CARS Club were watching them and their washing techniques, and they decided that dipping the sponge
or mop only once can do at least two cars. Oh well, it’s the thought that counts, right men?? NAPA also had a few very nice door prizes. Our
madam president of the CARS Club won one of the big ones, a very spiffy bar-b-que painted in NASCAR items. Because they already have a
bar-b-que, they checked with NAPA and they (along with the NAPA name) are going to donate this beautiful bar-b-que as a raffle gift for the
Just Park It tour. Thank you Bob and Lyn Doidge. Here are some pictures taken at the NAPA show.

This column will be dedicated to things you need to
know, already knew, or couldn’t care less about. Submit items to [email protected].
Recently, the newly formatted Spokesman Review
arrived on my front porch, and I was really dismayed
to see how the size of the paper has shrunk. It is now
about 12% smaller than it was previously and that
poses a dilemma for a lot of people. All of the civic
organizations that recycle paper will now have to collect 12% more to get
the same poundage, the insulation companies that grind newspaper into
cellulose insulation will have to buy more, thus raising their cost of materials, rural outhouse users all over America will have to go on a rationing
system and the newspaper that I use to stuff in the holes in the fender of the
car that I’m putting Bondo over will be harder to come by. Maybe it’s time
to start hoarding any free papers like the Wheel Deals or Nickel Nik just in
case the Spokesman stops printing the paper altogether. Twenty years from
now, you could amuse yourself by looking at a 2009 Wheel Deals and find
that you could have bought a new Mustang Shelby Cobra for only $45,000
and in 2029, it will probably be worth $80,000. Of course, you’d have to
convert it to batteries, fuel cells, or whatever, as gas will be $50 a gallon.
One of the items that thieves like to steal from your car or home is your
garage door opener remote. Even if you change the code on your opener so
that the stolen remote doesn’t work, the remotes only take a few seconds to
re-program. Then the thieves drive the alleys with several remotes, clicking
away until someone’s garage opens. If none open, they reprogram the remotes and try again. Most garage door openers are 110 volt and plug directly into an outlet, usually on the garage ceiling. Unplug the opener, plug
it into an extension cord that will reach a wall outlet, then simply unplug it
at night or when you are going to be gone for any period of time. This disables the opener and stops the thieves.
Gasoline has alcohol in it, so does beer. Since beer is cheaper than gas, we
need car engines that will run on beer. Not only would it cost less to drive,
if you get caught by the police with a 12-pack in the back seat, you can tell
the cop that you are taking it home to put in your lawnmower. Not only
that, but if your car breaks down, you could use the beer to temper your
wait for the tow truck.

On the Arnie Criuse, we had 5 convertible
cars , and 4 Mustang cars -I was thrilled to
have them, and meeting new people is fun.
They said they enjoyed it. But it did rain,
and was windy.. But still was ok.. More

Thank you to everyone who came to the show on Saturday June
20th. Despite the rain the night before we had 108 cars entered
with more to show after registration closed. Both John the parts
manager of the General Store and Camp Chevrolet lot managers
really work hard on helping put on a great show. Because of the
miss print of the show date in the calendar of events, about 12 en-
tries came into the show on the 13th and some drove in from Kennewick. In a goodwill gesture John from the General Store gave
each of the unexpected guest’s passes to the NHRA trials at Spokane County Racetrack event for that weekend. Kudos to John,
Thank you! If you came to the show and patronize the General
Store or Camp Chevrolet, next time you are in either one of these
establishments, thank them for a great show. The Inland Northwest
Camaro Club would greatly appreciate your time in doing so.
Proceeds from this show went to the 2nd Harvest Food Bank.

The Results from the 3rd Annual Millwood Car Show

Queen, Big R, Great Clips & Anytime Fitness and others. As the Spokane Model T
- Club we worked with Albertson and
Dairy Queen and all the others for 2nd
Harvest and The Alzheimer’s Association
in their annual drives on Saturday June
27, 2009 from 9:00 to 2:00.
Trophies were awarded to the winners and
door prizes were given out. The sponsors
paid for most of the costs such as: trophies,
prizes, doughnuts, cold water and pop.
Cost for the show was $10.00 per car or
$5.00 and five cans of food. A total of
$1658.00 was raised for 2nd Harvest and
the Alzheimer's Association.

We had 176 cars registered (+ extras who
didn't sign in) Jim Hein & Dave counted
some of the extra cars too. They thought
190 cars or so, and we turned away another
20-30 cars as we just ran out of room. We
even had them circling looking for some
one to pull out. Some of you just stop by to
donate.
OMG what a Car Show. We had also 11
Sponsors who gave money, prizes, food or
drink for use too. The music was provided
by “The Country Jammers”. They were
great to listen. Great Music! Must people
just had fun listening and catching up.
Some one told me that they
lost people in the crowd.
Sunshine Ladies:
If any member of your club is ill, had an accident, surgery, has
experienced an unfortunate event in their family or just needs
a pick-me-up give one of the sunshine committee a ring and
they will mail them a card

of your best cars for the Ultimate
Car Club Shootout to be held at
the 100 Years of Motorcycles
Tour, July 24, 25 and 26. Six
thousand dollars in prizes and
cash to be given away all weekend long. This is a National event
held at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center. The
INCCC has been asked to host this event and put it together for the whole weekend. We need your cars. This is
an opportunity for us to have an ultimate car show like no
other. First of all its ‘FREE”. Yes it’s free. No charge at
the gate. In fact, you will receive two free passes, good
for the whole weekend long to see the entire show, including all the entertainment that goes along with the
show. How’s that? It gets better. The cast from The Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch will be on hand to sign
autographs. Ultimate Cage Fighting, Motorcycle Stunt
Team, Biker Build Offs Calendar Girl Contest, Live
Bands, Food Court, Beer Garden, Helicopter Rides, and
Dale Ernhart Jr’s car, and a Spectacular Fireworks Show,
all included. You can’t miss this show. For our friends
from out of town, there is camping available at the Fairgrounds. For more information, visit

“Flame On! -What A Picnic”
On June 21,09 The Dukes Club played host at Mirabeau Park for “all” car owners. The rain held until
3:30 p.m. for the picnic. They were no costs for the
public. This was a real “free lunch” (and who can argue about a real free lunch). The food was outstanding. One of the Duke members said they served
900 hamburgers plus hotdogs, salads and drinks.
There were about 130 cars in the park. It was a lot of
fun for those where were there. If you were hungry
the Duke’s members put on a great spread. If you
weren’t there, the Duke’s members missed you and
you missed it. Put it on your calendar for next year.
It’s a lot of fun and great family outings.
We (the car community) would like to thank the
Dukes for all of their work! THANK YOU! (Suzie
and I had a blast).
The INCCC is moving right along. We have made some
changes this year, and one major change is our meeting
place. We have had great reviews and positive comments
on the room, food and atmosphere from our members and
guests who attend our monthly meetings. If you see someone who used to be a member of the INCCC, tell tem
about our new meeting place and invite them to a meeting. The Down Town Scholarship Car Show is on schedule and promises to bring more cars. The National T-Bird
show will held in Spokane the same week as the Down
Town Show. Spokane has been a busy little town this
year along with hosting a variety of different venues. All
the new car shows and a whole bunch of NHRA Racing
in our town, the Lion King is back this fall. Its great to sit
in the drivers seat again for the council and will continue
to work hard and represent all of you. Thanks You to everyone who gives your time to our organization. You make
us great!
