CLEMATIS
NATORP’S 2015 PERENNIAL VINE MUST-HAVE
Clematis is one of the most popular garden plants and no wonder; this versatile plant can be grown on walls, pergolas, frames, in containers, or left to
scramble through trees and shrubs. Clematis need cool moisture-retentive, but
well-drained soil. The herbaceous species prefer full sun, but most climbers and
shrub species will thrive in full sun or partial shade. Clematis make pretty container plants, especially if trained up a small trellis.

LAVENDER
NATORP’S 2015 PERENNIAL MUST-HAVE
There is no doubt that few plants bring such a wonderful scent to the garden.
Phenomenal is our lavender of the year for its ability to bring a wonderful scent
along with being incredibly hardy with great heat and humidity tolerance. With
blue flowers and silver foliage, this is a gorgeous choice for containers or borders in your favorite sunny spot. Bring cut flowers inside to include in your floral

NATORP’S 2015 PERENNIAL MUST-HAVE
Taking its name from its big and bold foliage, this is a striking plant that brings a
beautiful yellow/gold to the landscape if planted in sun and chartreuse if planted
in partial shade from spring throughout summer. A great focal point plant, this is
an excellent choice to complement your hostas and woodland plants as well as
bringing focus to your containers. And, it’s fast growing!
ICE PLANTCollection
NATORP’S 2015 PERENNIAL MUST-HAVE
A low maintenance favorite with great succulent foliage and striking flowers, this
is the perfect choice for beds, containers or rock gardens. The interesting foliage is complemented by flowers ranging from late spring to early summer. The
ice plant requires full sun and excellent drainage to do well.

SAVORY
There are two types of savory – summer (annual) and winter (perennial) savory. In
almost every application except gardening, they are quite the same. One an annual
and one a perennial, both are easy to
grow in the ground or in containers. And
while we enjoy their flavors in cooking,
the bees love them both for their tiny
flowers (summer is pink and winter is
white).

R IS ING S UN
RUBY FA LLS
Savory is well known as a cooking
herb. To my palate, winter has a
sharper - piney flavor; summer is lighter
and maybe a bit sweeter. Grow both for the different flavoring as well as having winter
savory year-round.
Add savory sprigs to soups, stews, beans, poultry and seafood dishes. In Germany, it’s
known as ‘the bean herb’ for its digestive and flavoring qualities. Savory is also a good
salt substitute. Mince fresh savory leaves and
combine with garlic, bay and lemon juice as a marinade for fish. Make a moist herb rub for pork or
poultry with minced Savory, lemon zest and garlic.
And of course, add several sprigs when cooking
beans. In cooking, use about three times as much
fresh savory as dry.
Medicinally, savory has mild antiseptic qualities
and aids in digestion. A tea made from summer
savory can be helpful for upset tummies or sore
throats. Savory is also a great source of vitamins,
anti-inflammatory, antioxidant agents, and helps
fight cholesterol.
