January 2016 Grandparents Day
On Saturday, January 9, Archbishop Chapelle held a special Grandparents Day for
students and their families. The evening included a prayer service, student reading,
performances, classroom tours, and dinner. We are incredibly grateful for all of the
grandparents in our extended Chapelle family for their guidance and support in helping
to raise the wonderful girls at our school.

New Years Prayer:
God, thank you for a new year. May everyone in our family be willing to begin
anew with a clean slate. We know that you are always ready to forgive us. Help
us to be willing to forgive ourselves and to forgive one another.
As we begin a new year, remind us of our truest values and our deepest
desires. Help us to live in the goodness that comes from doing what you want
us to do. Help us to put aside anxiety about the future and the past, so that we

reminders of the true meaning of Christmas.

On Saturday, December 5, Chapelle held a Breakfast with Santa for alumnae and their families.
Chipmunk adults and children enjoyed breakfast, crafts, performances, and pictures with Santa!

Archbishop Chapelle High School’s Students of the Year!
The Students of the Year Awards Program is designed to recognize outstanding elementary,
middle/junior high, and high school students. This program, patterned after the Teacher of the
Year Awards Program, is an excellent opportunity to recognize those students who have
demonstrated excellent academic achievement, leadership ability, and citizenship. The Students
of the Year Awards Program is sponsored by the Louisiana State Superintendent through the
State Department of Education and the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Alumnae College Panel
Chipmunk alumnae visited campus at the start of the spring semester as part of a College Panel
to prepare our students for success after graduation. Current students enjoyed the chance to ask
Chapelle graduates candid questions about life in college, from how challenging college classes
are to how they keep in touch with family and friends back home.

8 Grade Retreat
On Monday, January 4, the Class of 2020 began their overnight retreat. The class attended Mass,
experienced Adoration in the Chapel, had an opportunity to go to Confession, enjoyed brownie
sundaes, and played games. 8th Graders also heard from alumnae (Jazmin Gutierrez, Kristen
Hillburn, Olivia Mayeaux, Olivia Polk, and Allison Schlosser). The girls spent the night in the
gymnasium and were dismissed early on Tuesday for class.

On Thursday, January 7, students from the Class of 2015 came back to campus to pick up their
yearbooks and socialize with friends and teachers. We are always happy to see our wonderful
alums back on campus, and to watch the Chapelle family grow!
