The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium present from
8 March to 30 June 2013 an exhibition dedicated to the
father of abstract art, Wassily Kandinsky (Moscow 1866 –
Neuilly-sur-Seine 1944). This exposition contains some
130 works by the Russian master on loan from the State
Museum in St. Petersburg and other important Russian
museums, and will reconstruct two crucial decades from
1901 to 1922 in his artistic development.
Wassily Kandinsky is a renowned Russian painter et an
art theoretician. He is considered to be one of the most
important artists of the twentieth century, next to
Picasso and Matisse. He is known as the fonder of
abstract art as it is said he created the first non-figurative
work in modern art history.
