SPIN 2012 Annual Report Living SPIN’s Pillars Vol. 24 Professionalism As reflected in SPIN’s Corporate Board 2012 Trustees Message from the President & CEO Dear Members and Friends of SPIN, Looking back on the past year, many changes are evident. As the new CEO after over forty years with our first, it has been my privilege to shepherd SPIN through this challenging year. In order to connect our future with our past and to communicate what we stand for, last year we created SPIN’s Pillars. These are our deepest held values and they both guide and hold us accountable as we deliver our promise: A life of possibilities for everyone SPIN supports. Phyllis Hoffman Kathleen Brown McHale Joanne Leonard Joseph T. Murphy Jr., Esq. Corporate Board Living our Pillars this year has strengthened our resolve to persevere through the economic hardships we face; to work together to continue to find ways to advance SPIN’s great mission. For inspiration, there is no need to look further than the faces of those we support and their families – for they have conquered a lifetime of barriers to achieve things no one ever believed possible. In sharing our Pillars with you, we are inviting you into the conversation and asking for your continued belief and support in our endeavors. SPIN’s Pillars are our pledge… People First – To put the people SPIN supports first in our decisions, actions and plans. Professionalism – That SPIN employees’ conduct is professional at all times. Performance Excellence – To deliver excellence in service through high performance. Andrew Arnold Cassandra Gilreath Sr. Trudy Helder, SSJ, Secretary Marie T. Leonard, Chairperson Bernice McHale Frank Margerum Glenn Pappas Anthony Piccari, Treasurer/ Financial Secretary Danny Piccari Kathleen Simone Sharon Sorkin Andrea Temple Productivity – To commit to efficiencies that assures quality services at an economical cost. There is no question that many challenges were effectively managed by SPIN professionals using the Pillars for guidance last year. As a result, today there are more people receiving SPIN services despite funding cuts and SPIN was ranked #2 for large companies in The Philadelphia Inquirer’s 2011 Top Workplaces as well as internationally as a Training Top 125 organization. At year’s end, SPIN was endorsed by Philadelphia Community Behavioral Health (CBH) as a “Philadelphia Autism Center for Excellence” (“PACE”). This endorsement affords SPIN the opportunity to launch expanded best-practice services over the next year to meet the needs of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and their families. As we look to the many challenges and opportunities that await; thankfully I have a committed Corporate Board, a giving membership and a talented team of professionals who are living SPIN’s Pillars as they support others to achieve what is rightfully theirs…a life of possibilities.
