Foundation Annual Report 2014-2015
2014-2015 Annual Report to the Community
Our mission is
to support and
enhance the
legacy of
excellence in
Eden Prairie
Public Schools
What is the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools (FEPS)?
FEPS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization established in 1998, with a mission “to support and enhance the
legacy of excellence in Eden Prairie public schools.” We accomplish this mission by:
 Raising money through fundraisers and annual appeals, through the generosity of people like you
 Funding teacher and staff grants across all Eden Prairie public schools
 Funding educational projects in collaboration with other Eden Prairie community organizations
 Managing memorials and scholarships as directed by the donor
 Honoring staff, students, alumni and volunteers who make a significant difference in our schools
Thank You!
Generous support from individuals and businesses in our community allows
FEPS and Eden Prairie educators to respond quickly to the latest in
innovative teaching ideas, to inspire each student every day. Our students
deserve the best so they can excel in our world.
In 2014-15, FEPS raised $123,500 in donations from individuals and
businesses and through fundraising. FEPS annual fundraisers include the
Taste of Eden Prairie, the Golf Classic, and the 5K for Eden Prairie
Schools. Funds are also raised through Spring & Fall Teacher Appreciation
Gift programs and an Annual Appeal.
Over $700,000 invested in our schools, teachers & students!
Since its inception in 1998,
FEPS has awarded
over $700,000
in grants, scholarships and
computers.
Your gifts do make
a difference!
Teacher Appreciation Gift Program
Every fall and spring, FEPS sponsors a Teacher
Appreciation Gift Program that enables community
members to say thank you and show their appreciation to
EP Schools’ teachers and staff members. With a minimum
donation to FEPS, a gift and personalized thank you card
are delivered to the honoree. In 2014-15, almost $5,000
was raised through these programs and more than 200
teachers and staff members were recognized.

FEPS is proud to administer and accept donations designated for specific scholarship funds. This year, two scholarship
funds were established; the Sydney Galleger Memorial Scholarship and the Early Childhood Education Scholarship Fund.
Sydney Galleger Memorial Scholarship
On Monday, June 15th, 2015, the Eden Prairie community suffered a tremendous loss when EPHS junior Sydney Galleger
passed away. Sydney’s family asked that in lieu of flowers a donation could be made to FEPS to establish a scholarship in
memory of Sydney. FEPS joins the Galleger Family in thanking those who contributed to this scholarship.

ECFE Early Childhood Education Scholarship Fund
The Early Childhood Scholarship Fund, managed by Eden Prairie Community Education, provides scholarships for outreach
programs, preschool and parent education classes for Eden Prairie families with children ages birth to 5 years. Each year,
scholarship support is requested by over 200 families in need in our community. Job loss, illness or change in family status
can have negative financial impacts. This scholarship fund allows families to not have to choose between paying rent and
providing early childhood education for their children. Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported this program
this year.

The Taste of Eden Prairie is
one of Eden Prairie’s most
popular events and FEPS
biggest annual fundraiser. More
than 800 people attended this
year’s 13th annual Taste of Eden Prairie at the MN Vikings Fieldhouse
in EP - dancing to the Mark Miller Band, bidding on auction items,
participating in fun games, and tasting complimentary food from 20
participating restaurants. The generous support received from local
businesses, sponsors, restaurants, volunteers, and attendees, helped raise
$65,000 for teacher and staff grants.
A big THANK YOU to Chair Jo Nelson, the Taste of EP Planning
Committee, and over 100 volunteers for their time and dedication
in making this year’s Taste of EP a success!

Founders’ Circle
The fiscal strength of FEPS is showing in many
proud ways this year! Our dedicated board of
directors, hard working volunteers, individual and
corporate donors, and excellent new Executive
Director, Sarah Cheesman, are increasing the
impact of donations. Special thanks go to our
former Executive Director, Mary Lenker, for
guiding us through our signature fundraiser and
helping with the transition to our new leader.
Our expanded staff grants funded $87,000 to 14
different programs throughout all of our district
buildings! We hear daily about the engaged
FEPS President,
Cathy Bockenstedt
students and enthusiastic teachers who benefitted
from your generosity. FEPS helped provide
$17,000 in scholarship money to amazing students, making us the largest
scholarship provider at EPHS! We went through a complete audit of all of
our finances, with very positive outcomes, and we’re set to make a difference
again this year!
We are helping great teachers bring excellent opportunities to our
community. Indeed, we host outstanding events, but the success stories from
classrooms show our true impact. FEPS is raising our voice and enabling
excellence! Join us as we continue to grow our programs and make a
difference!
Best wishes,

Donate Today ... Help Bring Dreams to Action!
The Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools is completely reliant on personal and
corporate donations. Our schools are limited by financial resources, but not by a
lack of teacher innovation or creativity. Donations serve to expand our grant
programs and allow the foundation to support new initiatives that directly impact
students and teachers. Your gift is tax deductible.
Ways you can help







Sponsor an event or become a foundation cash sponsor.
Payroll Deduction at your company? Specify the “Foundation for Eden Prairie
Schools” as your charity of choice.
Set up a Scholarship or Program in memory of your loved one.
Appreciation Gifts: Recognize a special teacher or staff member with a
donation in their honor.
Endowment Donation: Leave your legacy with a lasting contribution to the
FEPS endowment.
Volunteer!! We need your time and talent!
Attend an event or two.
* Special thanks to our outgoing

Prairie Schools.
