Dimmable - full range dimming down to 20 % with Electronic Low Voltage dimmer (ELV). Equivalent Color - Contrast Lighting’s LED Collection is designed to offer the perfect Halogen MR16 bulb replacement. We offer the best LED color binning available to ensure Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) consistency over life of the LED Module, as well as offering a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 90+ at 3000°K. Unchanged Trim Designs- Our focus in developing the LED collection was to maintain the look of the small aperture MR16 halogen fixture. Wide Variety of trims – Available in 3.5” and 4” trim apertures and 15 standard trim color options as well as an assortment of different reflector options. Contrast Lighting now offers the widest selection of LED downlight options. Testing methods - Contrast Lighting’s LED Collection has passed IES LM79-08 tests. Consult the photometric sections after each trim’s page for more details. IES files are also available. Consult your representative for more details. Long Operational Life – Contrast Lighting’s LED Module was tested as per the IES LM80-08 test protocol and deliver 70% of initial lumens at 50,000 hours. Warranty - Contrast Lighting LED Collection has a 5 year warranty on the LED Module and Driver. The warranty for an LED shower trim is 5 years on the 4’’ and 3 years on the 3-1/2” series. Optic Configuration - 3 different beam spreads offered: Spot 15-25 °, Wide Flood 35-45° and Very Wide Flood 45-60°. The regressed reflector design helps to reduce glare. The Optic lens in front of the LED Module seals the reflector and protects the LED from fingerprints. It also helps when cleaning the unit. Once used for a different purpose, LEDs are now being used to save energy while lighting up our world. LEDs are compact, long lasting, energy saving light sources. What is really behind the name LED? A combination of various semiconductor materials and a driver, to control the amperage to the Light Emitting Diodes. When the driver supplies electrical current to the Light Emitting Diodes, a recombination of positive and negative charges results in the emission of photons, most well know as light. Why is thermal management so important? Without it the lumen output of the LEDs quickly depreciates and the average rated life of the LEDs drops dramatically. For this reason, the Contrast Lighting LED collection offers an innovative patent pending copper alloy heat sink. Our heat sink design extracts the heat from the LED Module and enables us to offer a 5 year warranty on the LED Module in our adjustable and fixed regress downlight trims and a 3 year warranty on 3-1/2” shower trims. This design also enables us to achieve lumen maintenance of L70 @ 50,000 Hrs. LED trim Module 629 LEDeducation LEDeducation Chromaticity Diagram Chromaticity Diagram, based on CIE Color Coordinates, represents all colors our eyes are sensitive to. The human eye is sensitive to the electromagnetic spectral rays that fall within 380 and 780 Nanometer, from purple to red. The diagram shows all these colors along the triangle arc. The colors dissolve as they aim toward the center of the diagram, until they become white. Incandescent lamp Correlated Color Temperatures (CCT) are represented in this diagram by the black curve, also known as the ‘’Blackbody’’ curve. This curve is the reference for all non-incandescent bulbs. Two lamps whose x,y coordinates fall above or below the ‘’Blackbody’’ curve, have the same CCT. The one above being slightly greener, and the one below slightly pinker as per the human eye. To minimize discrimination in the color of the light, Contrast Lighting LED Collection offers only the best binning available, which stands between 3-step MacAdam ellipses. ENERGY STAR test standards require evenness or below 4-step MacAdam ellipses. “MacAdam ellipses” is a standard derived from visual color-matching experiments by David Lewis MacAdam and shows the standard deviation of the color discrimination variations from a specific center color on the xy chromaticity diagram. The standard deviation shown with the “MacAdam ellipses” does not indicate a color difference distinguishable by the average human eye, but in another experiment MacAdam found that the color discrimination threshold is about three times (3-Step) the standard deviation.
