More Power – Wider Speed Range –
Dual Direction
Here’s what Shopsmith’s revolutionary PowerPro® Headstock
Upgrade will bring to YOUR home shop
More Horsepower and Torque You’ll have 1-3/4 HP at your
command if you’re using a 120 Volt circuit and a full 2HP if you’re
using a 240 Volt circuit. PLUS – you can switch from 120 to 240
Volt operation by simply changing the plug on the end of your cord
because the PowerPro will automatically sense the change and make
the switch accordingly. And, you’ll enjoy at least TWICE the torque of
your current MARK V throughout the full speed range. You’ll be able
to increase your depths-of-cut and feed rates to achieve the kinds of
operating eficiencies that are typically reserved for high-powered
commercial machinery.
Broader Speed Range – From 250 to 10,000 RPM
On the slow end, you can bore huge holes for clocks or similar projects
without burning your bits, PLUS, drill metals – turn large diameter
spindles or bowls – resaw thick stock – and lots more. On the fast end, you’ll rout or shape without feathering, chattering
or splintering – and joint or plane smooth edges or surfaces at lightning speeds.
Digital Controls It offers membrane-style push-pads for controlling motor speeds, direction and more. Use the ive
presets to select an approximate speed, then move “UP” or “DOWN” from there in as little as 1 RPM increments. It also
includes a built-in Speed Chart that will select the ideal speed for you, based on the bit or blade you’re using, the operation
you’re performing and the material you’re working with. There’s even a lock-out function to prevent children or other
unauthorized users from operating your machine.
Saves Energy Since the PowerPro uses
Intelligent Adaptive Power Delivery to draw only
the power it needs to maintain its selected speed
under load, it has been proven to save up to 80% of
the energy over conventional motors. As a result,
you’ll get more than enough additional usable power
from a standard 15-AMP home circuit to operate
multiple power tools (i.e. MARK V & Dust Collector)
simultaneously without blowing a fuse.
Operates Smoothly & Quietly The unique
compensating technology of the DVR motor ensures
operational and speed-changing smoothness. And,
when you couple this with the heavier motor with
HUGE bearings on BOTH ends of the shaft and
precision CNC-machined, wobble-free pulleys, you’ll
discover that the PowerPro is extremely quiet at idle
and all speeds.
Low Maintenance Since the PowerPro uses electronic speed control, there are no mechanical speed-changing
components to adjust, repair or replace. PLUS – every component operates with sealed bearings that require zero
lubrication.
The totally enclosed fan-cooled Motor virtually eliminates dust problems and the rugged Poly-V Belts last almost
indeinitely. If something goes wrong, the Control Panel describes the problem and you can easily unplug, remove and
return any component to the factory inexpensively for repair.

Digital Controls – Low Maintenance
State-of-the-art motor technology
helps your PowerPro work harder for you
The PowerPro Headstock features a DVR (Digital Variable Reluctance) Motor that’s quite amazing. Unlike dumb AC or
DC motors, DVR motors are controlled by a computer that analyzes the spindle position and power needed to maintain a
given speed at up to 2400 times per second...then uses Power Factor Correction technology to adjust the power delivery…
eliminating slow-downs, over-revving and losses of power that can negatively affect project results.
DVR Motors also save energy and emissions over conventional motors and are even smart enough to know whether you’re
plugging them into a 120 Volt or 240 Volt outlet…without any adjustments beyond simply switching the plugs on their
power cords.
The PowerPro Motor
The PowerPro Motor is a totally enclosed, fan cooled, 35-pound bruiser, scientiically
engineered to stand up to all the punishment you can dish out. It’s encircled by heat
dissipating ins and fanned by oversized vanes that keep it cool under even the most
taxing conditions. Working in concert with the Computerized Motor Controller, it gives
you 1-3/4 HP when operating at 120 Volts…and a full 2HP when operating at 240
Volts…and at least TWICE the torque of your current MARK V motor throughout its full speed range.
Computerized Motor Controller makes it all possible
The PowerPro Motor Controller maintains a constant watch over every
operation. The covered Controller its snugly above the Motor and is, in effect, a
sophisticated Computer that constantly monitors the performance of your PowerPro
to maintain the speed regardless of load, while optimizing the Motor’s power consumption.
Countless hours of in-shop testing and re-testing ensures proven performance
During development, every aspect of the PowerPro
was tested and re-tested to be certain that it would
perform to our highest expectations – and yours, of
course!
The most notable of these tests involved a punishing
trial of the machine’s ability to keep performing
during a grueling thickness planing study. We started
with a giant stack of 2” thick by 6” to 8” wide, tough
white oak boards.
We set our MARK V-powered Shopsmith Thickness
planer for the fastest feed rate and a very aggressive
3/64” depth-of cut…then started feeding our boards
through the planer. We continued this process over several weeks in one-hour increments without stopping until we had
fed a MILE of white oak through our planer…with no bogging, no complaining and no overheating!
“Thanks for the work you and your team did in developing the PowerPro. I’ve been so impressed with the new capabilities. The boost in
power is fantastic and the quiet-running machine is great... I use the chart button for virtually everything. It’s one of the neatest features of
the PowerPro. It feels like a whole new machine and is even more versatile than I had already gotten used-to.” – Philip K, via the internet
“I’d like to compliment your staff that put the PowerPro Upgrade instructions together. I watched the DVD and read the instructions...then
proceeded, step-by-step. I referred back to each often, which probably took extra time, but it is absolutely perfect. Thanks for a great product
and the instructions to do the job properly! – Joseph L., via the internet
“Through the years, I’ve upgraded my original 500 model Shopsmith to 510, then to 520 and now to the Ultimate Upgrade -- PowerPro. The
smooth, quiet operation is impressive. Placing a cup of coffee on the table reveals nary a ripple, even at 10,000 RPM. Users will find that the
PowerPro’s ability to sense torque makes it possible to do table saw ripping equal to many cabinet saws. Additionally, the variable speed
feature lets me rip and crosscut curly maple and cherry without unsightly burn marks.” – Ralph Livingston, Michigan

5 Keys to PowerPro Safety –
1: Machine default setting is 500 RPM when irst powered-up with main MARK V switch, preventing high-speed start-ups
that could catch you off guard and cause an injury.
2: Lower speed possibilities (to 250 RPM) mean added safety when working with large turnings, boring large diameter
holes, sanding and similar operations – while higher speeds (to 10,000 RPM) mean faster, smoother cutting for others.
3: Internal speed chart shows you the ideal speed for every operation upon request.
4: Operator conirmations are required for speeds over 1,500 RPM and reverse operation
5: Lets you establish passwords for locking-out access by unauthorized users
Your Complete Satisfaction is Assured
Your PowerPro Upgrade is protected by the following Parts & Labor Warranties:
Motor – 5-Years ● Belts, Bearings & Electronics – 2-Years ● Materials & Workmanship Defects – Lifetime

Double Tilt Base Upgrade turns your MARK V
into an UNDER-table Router, Shaper and Drum
Sander just like the new MARK 7!
It’s the perfect upgrade for Shopsmith Owners who prefer the UNDER-table approach
If you’re a woodworker who prefers the more conventional, UNDER-table approach to routing and shaping, this new
Shopsmith Upgrade is for you. And, if you haven’t really thought about the differences, here are a couple of points that
you might want to consider.
Safety With most UNDER-table shaping or routing operations, the workpiece is positioned between your hands and the
bit. As a result, the workpiece, in effect, acts as a guard, protecting you from potential dangers. As an example, when
routing a dado or groove across the surface of a board. When performing this operation with the UNDER-table method,
your router bit will be completely covered by the workpiece...thus, keeping your hands well out of harm’s way.
Working Convenience When you’re routing or shaping an interior cut-out area of a workpiece using the OVER-table
method, removing a workpiece for an occasional inspection (or other reason) requires that you retract your bit or cutter.
As a result, you’ll then also have to re-set your depth-of-cut each time you return to your task. However, with an UNDERtable set-up, these retraction and re-setting operations aren’t necessary.
Upgrading is a Quick, Simple Process You’ll replace the two vertical Worktable Support Tubes...and your current Base &
Arm assembly and Headrest with two tilting Base & Arm Assemblies. The entire process takes about an hour and requires
only a few simple tools that you probably have in your shop.
Here’s What’s Included With Your Upgrade Kit:
• (2) Pivot Bases
• (2) Pivot Arms
• (2) Vertical Lock Knobs
• (2) Horizontal Lock Knobs
• (2)Accessory Mount Lock Handles
• (2) New Double-Rack Worktable Posts w/Locking Pins

Roll your Shopsmith effortlessly from one
location to another with just one inger
Our new 3” diameter Caster Wheels will make that wish come true!
These big, 3” diameter by 1-1/4” wide Casters feature tough,
polyolein wheels and rugged 3/8” steel axles that roll supersmoothly on sealed ball bearings.
Smooth Ride Their soft, non-marring polyurethane tires
deliver the perfect combination of shock absorption for a smooth,
quiet “ride” …and resistance to
developing lat spots. The tires are
both chemically and mechanically
bonded to the wheels so they won’t
come off – plus, they’re certiied to
be resistant to the oils and chemicals found in the home shop.
Rugged Performance Rated at 200# per Caster, they rotate on
beefy 7/16” dia. grip-ring stems and double ball bearing 360°
swivels with hardened raceways and metal covers that shield the
bearings from dust and debris. They swivel instantly, changing direction with practically ZERO resistance!
Installed Easily on your existing Retractable Casters brackets. Just drill new bracket mounting holes in the legs
of your Shopsmith. A paper drilling guide template is included and a steel drill guide is also available – see below.
Then, pull the old wheels out and replace with the new. Bolt the brackets into their new position and you’re done.
• Glide over basement & garage loor concrete expansion joints with ease
• No more getting stopped abruptly by small wood scraps and sawdust
• Cut your rolling effort by up to 60%
The Proof is in These Test Results
We tested these casters against our original Mark V casters. We set up a MARK 7 as a table saw/jointer combo
(weight: 284#). We then tested our old 2” casters against the new 3” models on a smooth, tiled loor.
We used a spring scale attached to the center of the table carriage and pulled the machine sideways. First, we
set the wheels on each set of casters at 90° to our pull direction. Next, we set the wheels parallel with our pull
direction.

The Shopsmith 11” Bandsaw brings so many
capabilities to the shop that it’s easy to see why it’s
our most popular special Purpose Tool
Shopsmith’s hard-working, feature-packed Bandsaw
is certain to become one of the most often used tools
in your shop
What do you do with your new Shopsmith Bandsaw
Generous-sized worktable offers exceptional
support for large workpieces, PLUS a T-Slot
for your Shopsmith Miter Gauge
Unique blade
angling
mechanism
provides
unlimited cutoff capacity on
workpieces up
to 3-7/8” wide
Although bandsaws were originally developed to make curved cuts,
users soon realized that they offered a number of great, straight-line
cutting advantages, as well. For example, few table saws (commercial
or otherwise) will cut stock up to 6” thick...or cut metal. Here are just
a few of the jobs bandsaws are well-suited to tackle:
Cut tight or sweeping curves…No home shop saw will cut faster than
a bandsaw... and with Shopsmith’s generous-sized support table and
full range of 1/8” to 5/8” wide blades, you’ll be able to cut simple or
intricate curves in wood, plastic, and non-ferrous metals.
Make compound cuts to create 3-D objects…Curved table legs are often
created by irst cutting the required curves on the two opposing faces
of a board - taping the scrap back into position - then rotating the
board 90° and repeating the process.
Quickly cut woods up to 6” thick…Whether straight or curved, the
bandsaw will easily cut thick woods other saws just can’t handle.
Resaw thin boards from thick ones…When you need thin woods for your projects,
equip your bandsaw with a 1/2” or 5/8” resawing blade, and you can stand
boards up to 6” wide on edge and slice thin boards out of thick ones, just like the
lumberyards.
Pad-saw multiple items simultaneously…Need four identical bracket feet for a
small clock or box? Use double-stick tape to create a stack of boards of identical
thicknesses (up to 6” total) and saw them all at once...then separate them.
Cut metals, plastics & other materials…When making straight or curved cuts in
non-ferrous metals (up to 1/4” thick), plastics, rubber and other materials, no
other home shop saw will out-perform the bandsaw.
Special features that make your work easier
Large, versatile Worktable…Measuring 13-1/2” X 15-1/2”, it offers an easy-toread scale for precise tilt adjustments from 5° left to 45° right plus a special
T-slot extrusion that you can ine-tune to it your Miter Gauge precisely for
smooth, wobble-free operation.
Easy blade tension adjustments…See-through window lets you match the indicator on the Tension Gauge with the
blade width you’re using...without having to remove the machine cover.
Unlimited cut-off capacity on workpieces up to 3-7/8” wide…Exclusive reversible Blade Guides allow you to twist your
blade to a 30° angle from the saw’s frame to cut long boards with no throat restrictions.

Enjoy a virtually dust-free shop environment
with Shopsmith’s DC-3300 Dust Collector on duty
Shop vacuums are no match for dust
collectors when it comes to suckingup sawdust and wood chips.
Although shop vacuums are great for sweeping
loors, sucking-up water and general shop cleanup, they’re not your best choice for inhaling
large volumes of shavings or superine dust from
woodworking machinery. Where shop vacuums
generate static pressure for picking-up nuts, bolts,
water and other heavy stuff, dust collectors are
made to snatch 90+% of the dust and debris from
your machinery...BEFORE it gets airborne and
creates a mess in the shop – and problems in your
lungs.
In order for dust collectors to do their job, they
rely on CFM (cubic-feet-per-minute) of airlow
and NOT static pressure. In fact, on average, they
offer THREE TIMES the CFM of conventional shop
vacuums and are far more eficient at collecting dust and debris at the source.
Shopsmith’s DC-3300 Collector handles
dust control and shop clean-up with
ease and eficiency. In fact, when you’re
inished working, it even becomes an
air cleaner by simply disconnecting
the hoses, opening all three inlets and
turning it on to remove any lingering
airborne particles (as small as 7 microns
– 1 micron with the optional 42” dust
hood !) from a 12’ X 12’ shop in about 10
minutes!
Shopsmith’s DC-3300 Dust
Collector is jam-packed with
hard-working features
Powerful 1/2 HP Motor is fan-cooled,
sealed and develops up to 3/4 HP – that’s
enough to provide continuous, eficient dust collection with up to 98% eficiency.
Exceptional Hook-Up Versatility three 2-1/2” ports allow you to serve up to three
machines at once.
Large, 4-vane, Low-Noise Fan provides 330 CFM of airlow with minimal noise.
Huge 30-Gallon Waste Capacity features heavy duty, 30-gallon see-through,
disposable Dust Bags that attach and remove with a quick-release Retaining Strap.
Oversize Wheels & Casters make it easy for you to move your DC-3300 around the
shop with almost zero effort.
Generous 12-Foot Power Cord means you’ll never have to look for an extension!
Standard Accessories include:
• Two 2-1/2” x 8’ Hoses
• Wide loor pick-up
• Elbow brush
• Two 20” x 2-1/2” wands
• Two inlet plugs with caps
• Clamp-on utility pickup

Optional Filter Hoods let you choose
your level of dust collection eficiency
Where The Cake Always Comes First!
Dust Collector Filter Hoods clean the air that’s
returned to the environment once the dust is
removed. As they do this, a cake of dust forms on
the inside of the hood. The thicker the cake, the
smaller the dust particles it will hold captive inside.
Our larger Hoods offer nearly FOUR TIMES the
surface area of our original equipment (12”)
Hood. This helps them maintain optimal airlow,
even though particle size is reducing. Made of a
special polyester felt, they’re all fully washable, even
though it’s seldom necessary.

Eliminate hours of tedious hand-sanding with
Shopsmith’s 6” x 48” Stationary Belt Sander
Loaded with work-saving features and
operator benefits, our large capacity
Belt Sander offers capablilites that
competitive models have overlooked
Few tools will save you more work and time than a stationary belt sander. Its straight line action removes stock
quickly and easily...then, by changing to a ine grit belt,
smoothes the surfaces and edges of wide or narrow boards
to a glass like surface....PLUS....
• Removing unsightly mill marks from sawn stock
• Sanding bevels, miters and other cuts by using the table
to maintain a precise angle or size
• Contour sanding odd-shaped workpieces on the back side
of the belt (which runs free without a back-up plate)
• Sanding protruding joinery (inger laps, lap joints, mortise-&-tenons, dovetails, etc.) lush with workpiece edges or surfaces
• Sanding small or unusually-shaped parts that may be dificult or impossible to hold for sanding with hand-held power sanders
To remove stock quickly, sand across the grain. To smooth stock, sand with the grain. Its straight-line cutting action helps you
produce surfaces or edges that are as smooth as glass...and as straight as an arrow. For true 90° edges, position the worktable along
the side of the belt so its surface is 90° to the belt surface...then use the table as a precision rip fence-type guide.
When you need precise, two-way 90° corners, position the worktable across the belt with its surface 90° to the belt surface...
then use the table as a back-up to maintain the angle of the stock during sanding. For precise, three-way 90° corners, use your
Shopsmith MARK 7 or MARK V Miter Gauge in the Table slot for even more control. As with all Shopsmith Special Purpose
Tools, your Belt Sander offers a number of great features to help you make everything you make - better.
Your new Shopsmith Belt Sander gives you…
6” x 9” Support Table – Tilts and locks in position to control sanding angles and to act as a back-up during certain operations. It may be used across the belt, parallel to it on either side or at any angle for support when surfacing or edging stock. Your
Shopsmith Miter Gauge or the Shopsmith Tenon-Master jig may be used with the Table for added control.
Automatic Belt Tensioning and Tracking – Just twist the tensioning knob until it clicks to release the tension for belt changes.
Then, depress the knob release lever and everything snaps back to normal automatically. No tension settings required. Special
high-crown drum helps to keep the belt on-track at all times, without the need for constant adjustments.
Free-Running Belt on Back Side – Since the back side of the belt has no back-up plate, it will lex and give to match the external
contours of workpieces.
Built-In Dust Collection Port – 2-1/2” dust
collection port helps you capture the ine dust

Shopsmith’s Mortise & Tenon Package
– AND SAVE $2818 IN THE BARGAIN! –
Hollow Chisel Mortising Attachment
Beats Two-Step Mortising Hands-Down
for Speed, Precision and Finished
Appearance
There are four primary ways to cut mortises. These are: 1:
Use a bench chisel. 2: Bore out the waste with a drill bit
and square-up with a chisel. 3: Rout away the waste, then
square-up with a chisel. 4: Use a hollow chisel mortiser and
you’re done!
Several years ago, hollow chisel mortising faded in
popularity and was replaced by router-based slot mortising.
Well, it didn’t take long for woodworkers to igure out that
hollow-chisel mortising was faster and easier. As a result,
people decided to return to the old hollow chisel method.
The eight most common types of
Mortise-and-Tenon
THROUGH
Here’s how this tool works. • Install your drill chuck on your
Mark 7 or Mark V spindle. • Slip the Mortising Attachment
over the outside of your quill and tighten the setscrew.
• Insert the mortising chisel of your choice into the opposite end of the attachment
and tighten another setscrew. • Slip the mortising bit through the chisel and
tighten it in your drill chuck. • Position your workpiece against your rip fence,
install the hold-down and go to work!
The attachment holds and keeps the chisel from rotating while your drill chuck
holds and spins the mortising bit that rides inside the chisel. As you lower the set
into your wood, the bit removes most of the waste while the chisel’s sharp edges
shave the sides of the mortise square and smooth. The special hold-down attaches
to the top of your rip fence to keep your workpiece from lifting off the table surface
when you retract the chisel.

Made of heavy, cast aluminum, with a steel base, it offers a large knob for
optimum control... and a miter bar that guides your workpiece across the table of
your MARK 7, Mark V, Belt Sander or Bandsaw.

Meet the most revolutionary
and easiest-to-use
Box Joint Jig EVER!
Now, you can make precise, tight-fitting box
joints – without the time-consuming trial-anderror dado blade shimming that’s been driving
you NUTS for years!
Just assemble your Dado Blade set to the combined width you
want without using shims...make a couple of sample passes
and quick, truly simple spacing adjustments...and you’ll be set
to go in a few short minutes!
How can that be?, you ask! “Surely, it can’t be THAT simple!”
Well....you’d be wrong because it really CAN be just that
simple! Here’s why. The IBoxTM is the irst commercially
available box joint jig with a unique, micro-adjustable, dual
pitch Positioning Engine that lets you set your pin width AND
A
spacing in unison, with a single adjustment of the red knob. ●
Set-up is as simple as making a test cut to determine the it of
the pin in the Dado kerf. As you move the two pin plates closer
to or away from the blade by turning the red knob, both plates
B automatically move in unison to ensure the proper it. If
●
they don’t it perfectly, you can adjust the it by holding the
red knob in position and rotating the outer, silver knob.
A
●
B
●
Rotate it in a counter-clockwise direction to decrease the size
of the pin and loosen the it...or in a clockwise direction to
increase the size of the pin and tighten the it. Each small
white line on the red knob represents .001” of adjustment.
TALK ABOUT PRECISE! Once it’s adjusted properly for a setup, you’re ready to go…no spacer strips to make or use for
indexing your cuts...and no iddling around. You won’t believe
how quickly your work will progress.
Here are 8 more reasons why you’ll want to own this amazing jig!
• It will work with your MARK V or MARK 7 table saw...or
with the Under-table Routing function of your MARK 7
• It’s compatible with any cutter width between 1/8” & 3/4”
– even metric cutters
• It can be used on either side (left or right) of your cutter
• Use it to produce center keyed & splined decorative box
joints, too
• It’s a great (fast) way to make your own decorative dentil

Stop Collar Delivers Convenience & Repeatability
Put an end to frustrating table height adjustments – get precise depths for dadoes,
grooves, inger joints & more!
This simple, handy accessory belongs in every shop...and the new, optional scales make it even MORE
precise and easier to use! Made of precision-machined steel with a protective black oxide coating, you’ll
use it to make micro depth-of-cut adjustments from a few thousandths to about 7/8”. Just slip it over the
front table tube on your Mark 7 or Mark V with the narrow ring “up”…allowing it to loat on the table
post. Set the table height for your operation to within 1/4” or so of where you want it, then set a gap of
between 3/8” to 1/2” between the rings.
Rotate the wide ring (bottom) clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust. A single 360-degree turn of the
ring provides 1/16” of travel for making incremental table height adjustments for dadoes or grooves,
cutting tenons, forming inger joints or adjusting the molding head when making decorative cuts in
workpiece surfaces.
You can also use it to set extension table heights...to micro-adjust the in-out position of your worktable
and rip fence in relation to the quill when drilling, shaping, routing, hollow chisel mortising or drum
sanding…plus under-table routing while using the speed increaser.
Self-adhesive laminated Scales help you set and return to Worktable heights with extreme precision.
Easy to install, these laminated, self-adhesive Scales are graduated in 1/128”, 1/1000” and 1/10th of a millimeter. The Collar &

10-inch thin-kerf carbide-tipped Blades slice
through the hardest woods with ease, make
super-clean cuts and seldom require re-sharpening
Thin Kerfs Make the Difference
Unlike many Blades that take a kerf of 1/8” or more,
these blades deliver a narrower (Approx.) 3/32” kerf,
resulting in a faster, more eficient cut that requires less
horsepower than many competitive Blades.

The trade-off between rip, crosscut and combination
blades
Before selecting your blades, understand that there are
compromises. Although Combination Blades deliver
Unique expansion
excellent cuts in most situations, the best cuts are
usually produced by task-speciic blades. For example, slots minimize
rip cuts produce larger chips that require deep gullets vibrations,
reduce noise and
to remove waste eficiently. And, since they need more help to provide a
gullet space, they have fewer teeth. On the other hand, cleaner cut
crosscutting produces iner dust, so shallower gullets
leave room for more teeth and a smoother cut. So, if your projects often
require lots of continuous crosscutting or ripping, it would stand to reason
that you’ll work quicker and get smoother results by using a purpose-speciic
crosscut or rip blade.
However, if your projects require that you switch back-and-forth between
crosscutting and ripping more frequently, the minimal trade-off in cut quality
that can come with using a combination blade could quickly pay you back in terms of saved blade-changing time.
NOTE: All three of these Blades are manufactured exclusively for Shopsmith by CMT Tools in Germany and feature the
standard 1-1/4” Shopsmith Arbor Hole.
A 10-inch Carbide-Tipped Combination Blade
●
This 50-tooth blade delivers super-smooth cuts when crosscutting or ripping. It’s 40 alternate bevel ground crosscutting teeth
slice through the wood ibers fast and are separated by shallow gullets for optimal crosscutting eficiency. The 10 lat top
ground ripping teeth chisel through the stock rapidly and are separated by long, deep gullets to eliminate the large amount of
waste that’s produced. C-4 carbide.
B 10-inch Carbide-Tipped Rip Blade
●
This 24-tooth blade is the best choice for continuous ripping. Its alternate bevel ground teeth combined with square chisel
teeth cut quickly, while its deeper gullets are well-equipped to handle the faster feed rates and large amount of waste that it
produces. C-2 carbide.
C 10-inch Carbide-Tipped Crosscut Blade
●
This 60-tooth blade is the ideal choice for continuous crosscutting. Its alternate bevel ground teeth combined with lat
ground teeth are designed to quickly sever the wood ibers and deliver a super-smooth cut on hardwoods or softwoods. C-4
carbide.

Prevent dangerous kickbacks when cutting
dadoes, grooves, rabbets, half laps, etc.!
Riving Knives on Upper Saw Guard Systems are positioned at the back side of the saw blade and are
designed to prevent the kerf from closing onto the blade teeth once the cut has been made. When this
occurs, the potential for a kickback increases signiicantly.
If your MARK V (model 505, 510 or 520) machine was manufactured after November of 1985, your
Upper Saw Guard mechanism includes a Riving Knife that’s designed to prevent this kerf-closing
when making through cuts. All of the new MARK 7s also include this system. For your own safety and
protection, we advise you to always use this system when making through cuts on your Shopsmith
Table Saw setup.
This new Non-Through-Cut Riving Knife will provide that same level of anti-kickback protection
when making cuts where the blade does not pass all the way through the stock. Although the
remaining wood that is not cut away from the stock during these non-through cuts will keep the
kerf from closing on the blade, the workpiece could still rock or tilt slightly, permitting a wedging
effect that could initiate a kickback. A wide metal Riving Knife at the outfeed side of the sawblade will
prevent this wedging effect from occurring. The Knife is slotted to slip quickly and easily into the
Upper Guard Mounting System on your MARK V or MARK 7 and tighten, using the plastic Wing Knob.
You’ll be ready to safely make your cut(s) in a few seconds. Works equally well when making straight or bevel cuts at any depth.
556223 Non-Through Riving Knife ......................................................................................................................$29.99
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
• This Riving Knife will not accept your Upper Saw Guard and is therefore designed for use when making non-through cuts
such as narrow single or multiple-pass dadoes or grooves...rabbets...half-laps, etc. where the saw blade is covered by the
workpiece. It is NOT intended to be used when making through saw cuts. ALWAYS use your Upper Saw Guard with its
standard Riving Knife when making through cuts.

Meet the all-new TrueTrac Track Saw System…
The go-anywhere System that gives
you the precision of a cabinet saw
in a compact package that you can
carry to the yard or jobsite!
For ripping or crosscutting large sheet goods, nothing (short of
a big bucks behemouth cabinet saw) can beat a good track saw.
But, the most widely known models available today only work
with proprietary saws and cost between $600 and $1,000. That’s
too much for most home craftsmen, and tradesmen alike.
TrueTrac lets you have that track saw
you’ve always wanted – for under $200!
With TrueTrac, you can use your current Circular Saw...and save a
bundle in the bargain!
11 great reasons why TrueTrac is the system for you
1. No need to buy a new circular saw
2. Thick, rugged twin rail track won’t sag
3. Holds its position without clamps
4. Track edge is your exact cut position
5. No time-consuming offset calculations
6. Anti-chip system eliminates splintering
7. Rips narrow boards like a table saw
8. Bevels workpiece edges with ease
9. Stores flat on a wall, out of the way
10. Travels easily in a car trunk or back seat
11. Optional Extension Kit cuts up to 96”
Rugged (1/8” thick) Track won’t sag like other track saws…
even with the optional 48” Extension Track in place. That means
straighter, more precise cuts
every time.
Twin Anti-Chip Polyvinyl Track Edges serve three purposes:
1. Non-slip bottom surfaces keep Track from moving
while you cut. No clamps required.
2. Your irst saw pass shaves the sacriicial edge
– from that point, the edge indicates the exact
position of your saw blade for marking cut lines.
No blade offsets to calculate!
3. Anti-Chip Edges on the Track and the Adapter Plate
prevent splintering. Very important when you’re
cutting $100 a sheet veneered materials.
Track Saw vs. Edge Guide
With edge guides, each cut requires you
to factor-in the distance from the edge of
your saw’s shoe to the blade or cut line. If
that distance is like 2-9/32”, you’ll have an
on-going computing problem that’ll make
you nuts !
But, unlike an edge guide, TrueTrac’s
specially designed Adapter Plate positions
your saw on top of the guide track, NOT
against it, and features a polyvinyl strip
with a sacriicial edge that marks your
cut position precisely with no factoring
required. And, since your saw rides on top
of the track, you can’t wander away from its
edge and ruin your cut.
Flat Track hangs conveniently out of your way on a pegboard wall
or hook until you need it
Fits in the trunk or back seat of your car with room to spare
Attach an optional 48”
Extension Kit to your 57”
Track with our patented
connectors to rip panels up
to 102” wide!
24
The mating chamfered edges of the Track
rails and Adapter Plate grooves that ride
on them are self-aligning with zero play
between them, while the weight of your
saw keeps every cut on-track and precisely
positioned – every time…without clamps!

…Your low cost alternative to high-priced track saws
The Jack of All Trades Track Saw System
Rip narrow boards, as if you
were using a table saw
As long as you have two
boards of the same thickness,
this task is amazingly simple.
Crosscut multiple boards,
all at once Just line them up,
position TrueTrac on top and
make your cuts. Polyvinyl
edges hold track in position
without clamps or iddling.
Shave thin strips off
workpiece edges to produce
boards of precise widths
With TrueTrac, ripping as
little as 1/32” off the edge of a
board is a breeze.
Bevel the edges of sheet
goods or individual boards
Flip your saw around to the
opposite side of the Track and
you’re ready to rip or crosscut
perfectly beveled edges.
Eliminating rough or waned
edges is a snap
This is one job that is actually
far more dificult with your
table saw than with your
TrueTrac Track Saw!
Cut tapered shapes for
cabinet illers and similar
projects It’s actually faster
and easier to do with your
TrueTrac than it is with a
table saw!

New Gas Spring Table-Raiser Makes Easy
Work of Drill Press Table Lifting & Lowering
Switching between long drill bits (or other accessories) and short ones
can test your strength when you’re working in vertical, Drill Press position!
You’re using a 6” or 7” long Forstner Bit in Drill Press mode to create a counterbore in a
workpiece. When you’re inished, you switch to a smaller (and shorter) bit to drill some
more holes...but now, your Worktable is too low for the 4-1/4” Quill Travel of your Shopsmith to allow your shorter
bit to bore the holes. So, you have to raise the Table to bore the smaller holes. But, when you release the Carriage
Lock Lever, the Table wants to drop immediately to the bottom of its travel...and on this day, it takes more strength
than you have to keep it from falling. So, you quickly re-lock the Carriage, lower the Shopsmith to horizontal
position, re-position the Table and raise the machine back into vertical position. Nerve-racking. Sound familiar?
Now, There’s a NEW Solution
In about half an hour, using the supplied template and drill bit, you attach one of the included quick-release
Table-Raiser Brackets to your Shopsmith’s Table Carriage and the other Bracket to your machine’s Base Arm
and you’re all set. From this point on, each time you plan to switch to Drill Press mode
and think that this scenario may be a problem for you, just snap the Quick-Release
Table-Raiser to your Shopsmith before you swing it into vertical position and it will
no longer be a problem. Engineered speciically to work with YOUR Shopsmith Model, it
will reduce your table-raising effort from 47# to 5# or ZERO (see table for speciics).

Shopsmith/NOVA Chuck provides a solid grip on stock
& makes quick work of attaching & detaching turnings
Precision machined to close tolerances, this premier quality, self-centering scrolling chuck lets
you attach and detach turnings without leaving unsightly screw holes or having to glue scrap
blocks to them that can be tough to remove.
The T-Handled Wrench moves all four jaws in unison, grasping your workpiece irmly without
crushing the wood.
You’ll get a secure hold, whether you’re gripping end grain or side grain...and know that your
gripping pressure will be spread over a wide area, preventing damage to your workpieces.
Includes SafeLock Woodworm Screw and a special Shopsmith Insert Adapter The 1-7/8” long by 1/2” dia. Screw offers a
deep thread that’s machined all the way to the end of the screw, allowing it to lead easily into a 9/32” dia. pilot hole in soft
woods (5/16” for hardwoods) and grip tightly. Its square shank and locating groove locks positively into the NOVA Chuck
body. The Insert Adapter is designed speciically to attach to the 5/8” Shopsmith Spindle using your standard 5/32” Allen
Wrench.
$4995 Value Pin Jaw Set enhances your turning capabilities Designed to expand into a pre-bored hole
in your workpiece, it’s the ideal choice for turning bowls with freeform edges. And since this Jaw Set will
grip a range of hole sizes, you won’t have to bore an exact sized hole.
You can also use the long jaws to get a powerful, more stable external (contraction) grip when
turning miniature or smaller diameter spindles...or for those times when you need to use an internal
(expansion) grip on smaller sized bowls, turned boxes and similar projects.

C: Live Center features precision ball bearings for friction-free tip rotation without the need for lubricants. It reduces
noise, runs more smoothly, won’t loosen its grip on your workpiece (as cup centers often do) or burn workpiece ends.
D: Screw Center is used for turning small workpieces from 1” to 5” long without using a tailstock center.
E: 3-3/4” Faceplate is made of cast iron, precision machined and then balanced for smooth, wobble-free running. Use it
for turning small diameter bowls, vases or similar objects. The inner 1/4” dia. mounting holes will grip workpieces down to
2-3/8” dia., while the outer set will grip down to 3-1/4” in diameter.

Even More Than Any Other Tool You Might Buy!
Meet the most stable, most versatile Lathe Tool Rest you’ll ind anywhere! Its unique triple-jointed design lets you swing the arm
and support in any direction for positioning deep within bowls, vases or goblets - even around the back side of large turnings.
At a full 35 pounds, this heavy, cast iron system delivers rock-solid support and reach. You’ll “hog-out” huge amounts of waste

Easy to Attach and Easier to Use
Just remove your Shopsmith’s Worktable from its Carriage, set the cast iron Mounting Plate on top of the Carriage, tighten the
two bolts and go to work. Loosen the 18-1/4” long Support Base Arm
and rotate it a full 3600. Move it left or right and lock it irmly at any
point along its travel. Slip the rotating Tool Support Arm into the
Support Base Arm and lock it into position. The rugged steel Support
Arm Post gives you a full 2-1/8” of up-down travel... allowing you to
position Shopsmith’s standard Tool Rest anywhere from 1/2” below
to 1-1/2” above your workpiece centerline. An adjustable stop collar
and height setscrew let you return to a pre-set height instantly. Any
of the four available Shopsmith Tool Rests (or our Lathe Steady
Rest) will lock into the tool support arm with a convenient third lever.

Shopsmith’s Sharpening Guide makes easy, failsafe work of creating super-sharp edges on bench
chisels, lathe chisels and even shaper cutters
Sharp chisels are essential for achieving
the best results on your joinery or turning
tasks. Unfortunately, this is easier said
than done for many woodworkers. But
thanks to this innovative device, you’ll
be able to achieve the super-sharp edges
you need quickly, easily and without
guesswork.
Simply mount the guide to your
Shopsmith’s worktable (for sharpening
bench chisels or shaper cutters) – or to
your extension table (for sharpening
lathe parting tools, skews, gouges and
roundnose lathe chisels) -- then use your
sanding disc with PSA-backed sandpaper
discs (not Velcro®-backed) to do the sharpening. A template is included for drilling the mounting holes, as is a printed
table outlining the best angle settings for sharpening various tools.
Position the tool against the appropriate station wall of the guide (as described in the instructions) and use the guide’s
curved angle quadrant to set the perfect angle for each type of tool.

Shopsmith’s steel sanding disc (and appropriate sandpaper discs) are required for sharpening with the guide.

Shopsmith’s unique Conical Sanding Disc does
things conventional discs simply can’t do
Achieve smooth, swirl-free edge and surface-sanding results with this remarkable Disc!
• Joint the edges of highly igured woods without tearing or chipping
• Produce smooth, superior quality gluing edges on all types of sheet goods
• Shave end grains to precise length with glass-smooth results
• Sharpen the edges of planer & jointer knives with amazing results
Although this may be a strange-looking disc, make no mistake about it – it will help you achieve the kinds of astonishing results
on the edges (up to 4” wide) and surfaces of workpieces that you cannot achieve with conventional sanding discs.
Here’s how it works
The disc is made with a unique, 4°
tapered shape that begins 1-1/4” from
the center of the disc and continues to
its outside edges. This creates its unusual
cone-like shape.
When you use the disc, its infeed
side (NOT the outfeed side) contacts
the workpiece surface at a 90° angle,
parallel to the grain of the wood.
You start by tilting your Shopsmith’s
worktable to the same 40° angle and use
your rip fence or miter gauge to keep
your stock moving in a straight line.
As your stock moves past the disc, a 1/4” wide vertical band is created where the full workpiece edge (up to 4” high) is in contact
with the abrasives. Within this band, the abrasives and workpiece edge are both moving parallel with one another and in opposite
directions. As a result, you achieve a straight-line, swirl-free surface.
No edge is too difficult. This amazing disc will even shave dificult, highly igured birdseye or burled woods without tearing or
chipping. And, where plywood, particleboard, MDF and laminate-covered composites will literally eat-up jointer knives, NOT SO
with the conical disc.
Remove up to a full 1/8” in a single pass! Where you can almost count on getting poor results with a full 1/8” jointer pass,
this is not the case with the conical disc. Prove it to yourself! Just grab a piece of igured wood or composite material, make your
set-up for a 1/8” pass, follow all operational and safety instructions and shove it through! Prepare to be amazed!

Keep your woodworking, gardening and other
household cutting tools sharp with Shopsmith’s
Grinding Wheel Guard and Grinding Wheels
As a woodworker, you already
know that only sharp tools
will help you produce the best
results with the least effort.
Your lathe chisels, bench
chisels, and plane irons all
have cutting edges that WILL
become dulled and MAY
get nicked. And that means
they need to be sharpened
periodically to help you
achieve the best results on
whatever job you’re doing.
To install, simply position the
neck of the grinding wheel
guard over your Shopsmith’s
quill housing and tighten the
single 5/32” capscrew. Install
the preferred grinding wheel
and you’re ready to start
grinding or honing all types of
edged tools.
In addition to sharpening your
woodworking tool edges, you can also use it to:
• Restore the damaged tips of your screwdrivers
• Flatten the ends of punches
• Round the ends of bolts you may have sawn to a shorter length, in order to remove any burrs you’ve created
• Sharpen gardening and other outdoor tools such as lawnmower blades, axes, trimming shears and more
• And these are just the beginning.
The guard comes with a generous-sized, easily adjustable tool rest that provides positive control of your grinding angles. Once it’s
adjusted (to any angle up to 90°) simply lock it irmly into position with the large, over-sized wing nut. Use the rest in a vertical
position when sharpening chisels or other narrow edged tools. If you prefer, its notched leading edge can be adjusted to surround
the wheel for added tool support. Then move it into a horizontal position when sharpening plane irons or other wider tools.
The high-impact, acrylic see-through shield with steel spark arrestor are fully adjustable to provide maximum protection for
every set-up. To get started, simply install the preferred grinding wheel on the special 5/8” wheel arbor (we recommend using
Shopsmith’s 13”arbor wrench – See page 23), attach the guard, then the wheel to your Shopsmith and start grinding and/or
sharpening.

The Shopsmith Biscuit Joiner –
Your better way to join boards together
Most woodworkers agree…biscuit joiners produce stronger, tighter joints than
dowels…and help you create those joints with improved ease and speed.
The Shopsmith version of this amazing tool is both simpler to use in many
ways…and certainly more affordable than its portable electric counterparts.
Just set your MARK 7 or Mark V up in drill press position, slip the Joiner’s blade
arbor over your quill shaft, tighten its housing around your quill collar and
you’re set to go.
It’s fully adjustable for #0, #10, and #20 biscuits and (unlike most
portable units) includes a built-in dust collection hook-up to
help you keep your shop clean. A quick turn of the depth stop set
screws adjusts the Joiner for the correct size biscuit, while the two
sharp pointed positioning pins and the non-slip surfaces keep your
workpiece from slipping during slot cutting.
Workpiece alignment is assured by the biscuit’s uniform shape and size...and by the precision of
the slots cut by the Joiner. You can even slide the mating boards back-and-forth during assembly
to make lateral adjustments!
The facts about biscuit’s strength
The beechwood biscuits start swelling as soon as they contact the glue, creating a super-tight it that locks the joined
boards together - permanently. Biscuits are constructed to maximize stronger long grain gluing surfaces, while half
of a dowel’s gluing surface relies on short (end) grain surfaces for its strength. As a result, biscuits are proven to
be stronger than dowels when you need tough, durable joinery for wood, MDF or particleboard projects. (Includes
carbide-tipped Cutting Blade, non-slip surfaces, instruction manual and [25] #20 Biscuits)

Power Coupler Makes The Connection between
Your MARK V/MARK 7 & Your Special Purpose Tools
The Shopsmith Power Coupler is required to connect your Special
Purpose Tools (SPT’s) to your Shopsmith and is made of a virtually
unbreakable plastic compound. However, unfortunately, we have
learned through the years that they can be easy to misplace or lose.
And when that happens, using your Shopsmith Special Purpose Tools
becomes impossible...that’s why having a spare around the shop is
highly recommended. After all, you can’t exactly go to your local
hardware store or “big box” and pick one up on a moment’s notice!
The Complete Kit listed below comes standard with all Mark Vs/MARK 7s
manufactured after April, 1985. It includes the Coupler and two splined metal Drive Hubs (one each for the upper
and lower Drive spindles on your Mark V/MARK 7 Headstock). Additional Couplers, Drive Hubs and Accessory Hubs
can also be purchased individually. Order your spare Coupler Kits, Couplers and Hubs now to be sure you’re always
prepared for the swiftest machine changeovers. The time will come that you’ll be glad you’re Prepared!

be removed, replaced and re-installed with
a snap ring to factory specs…a task that
may be difficult for some customers.
The 516152 version includes the two
Sheaves with key, spacer, compression
spring, washer & snap ring...all
assembled & properly adjusted by factorytrained technicians. With this version, vital
components will be replaced to perform
as intended.

prior owner, it could be time to replace your motor. Just remember -- no matter
how well a motor is built (ours are built by the best in the business), they simply
won’t last forever.

How to tell if your Motor should be replaced
BOGGING/LACK OF POWER If your Motor lacks the power it once had
or bogs down when cutting heavy boards, it’s probably time for a
replacement
FAILS TO START If you have experienced this problem and have already
replaced the switch with no success, it’s time to replace your Motor.
SQUEAKING OR HUMMING Squeaking is a sign of bearing failure and
humming indicates that the motor is struggling to start. If the Motor
still squeaks or hums after removing the Drive Belt, it should be
replaced ASAP.
SMOKING OR FOUL ODOR Either of these problems are an indication that
the Motor should be replaced as soon as possible.
