The College offers Traineeships and Intermediate, Advanced and Higher Apprenticeships. A Traineeship helps prepare you for a job or an Apprenticeship. It is normally for between 10 to 26 weeks and includes employability skills, work experience and if needed, help with English and Maths. You are also guaranteed an interview at the end of the Traineeship to help you prepare for work. The College will help you find a Traineeship and we will work with employers to find a placement that suits your future work interests. Having work experience on your CV can really help you when you are trying to get a job or an Apprenticeship. An Apprenticeship is a job with training – a chance to earn while you learn. You are employed in a job and you work towards qualifications as well. The College can help find you an employer and our current vacancies are on the National Apprenticeship Service website. www.findapprenticeship.service.gov.uk/ apprenticeshipsearch Employers take on apprentices throughout the year so new opportunities come up every week. All apprentices have to work for a minimum of 30 hours a week including any time at College. For some apprenticeships you may come into College for about one day a week but for other apprenticeships there is no college attendance. For example, in engineering you would come to College to work towards an engineering qualification where you need to have classroom and workshop training and support from College staff. For an apprenticeship such as business administration or customer service there is no College attendance as all your work is done with the support of an assessor in the workplace. An Apprenticeship is like any other job – a vacancy is advertised, you apply and then the employer will decide whether you are suitable for the job. The College can also provide support such as interview skills training and help making sure your CV is up to date. Take a look at the types of apprenticeships we offer. We regularly add new apprenticeship frameworks so if you don’t see what you are looking for then just ask. For further information about Traineeships and Apprenticeships please contact [email protected] or call 01724 295363. 43 Apprenticeship Programmes Animal Management Animal Management - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Art and Design Creative Craft Practitioner - Advanced Apprenticeship Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Beauty Therapy - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Beauty Therapy (Spa) - Advanced Apprenticeship Hairdressing - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Business and IT Accountancy – Intermediate, Advanced and Higher Apprenticeship Business Administration- Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship IT Users - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship IT Software, Web and Telecoms Professional - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Childcare and Education Children and Young Peoples Workforce - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Supporting Teaching and Learning in School - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Customer Services Customer Services - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Construction Maintenance Operative - Intermediate Apprenticeship Bricklaying - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Plastering - Intermediate Apprenticeship Site Carpentry - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Ceramic Wall and Tiling - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Bench Joinery - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Construction Operations and Civil Engineering - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Plumbing and Heating - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Health and Social Care Health - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Health and Social Care - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Engineering Engineering Manufacture - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Electrotechnical - Advanced Apprenticeship Fabrication and Welding - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Tata Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering and Manufacture – Electrical Tata Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering and Manufacture - Mechanical Tata Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering and Manufacture – Structural Tata Advanced Apprenticeship in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (Industrial Science) Tata Trainee Engineer – Advanced Apprenticeship Hospitality Hospitality - Intermediate Apprenticeship Management Management - Intermediate, Advanced or Higher Apprenticeship Motor Vehicle Vehicle Maintenance and Repair - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Vehicle Fitting - Intermediate Apprenticeship Vehicle Body and Paint - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Retail Retail - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Sport Instructing Exercise and Fitness - Intermediate Apprenticeship Active Leadership - Intermediate Apprenticeship Sport Development - Advanced Apprenticeship Warehousing and Storage Warehousing and Storage - Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship Student Quotes Beth Thompson: “I loved studying at North Lindsey College, got a lot of support from my tutor and benefited from sharing ideas with my fellow students. Our strong employer partnerships enable many of our students to gain skills and knowledge in a work environment as part of their programme. Employers work with the College in a number of ways such as, taking on apprentices, offering work placements, guest lecturing, student mentoring and offering hands-on experience. Company Profile Virgin Care Limited: “The two apprentices from North Lindsey College have had such a positive effect on the service, they’ve brought bags of energy and enthusiasm with them and their work has also allowed us to send results to patients even more quickly. For us, that’s crucial because not only does it mean we are achieving our objectives of notifying patients within two days but patients are also telling us how pleased they are with the service, and the speed.” Nic Parkes, Communication Manager at Virgin Care Limited Company Profile Company Profile Just Car Clinic: We have joined forces with North Lindsey College to create the Just Car Clinics Academy which not only fast tracks students to level one qualifications in just 12 weeks, but also provides them with bursary payments throughout their training. It also has employment opportunities in the shape of full time apprenticeship roles at the end of the 12 weeks for students who have passed and excelled in the programme.” Dawn Swales, HR and Training Manager at Just Car Clinic G.S Kelsey Ltd: “Together with the College we have all been working collaboratively over the past year to try and improve the number of apprenticeships offered to young people in the construction industry. It has been a pleasure to chair regular steering group meetings that have led to tangible improvements that will help local businesses, the economy and young people.” Matthew Robinson, Director of G.S. Kelsey 49 Company Profile Industry Links Here are just a selection of the companies we work with: NHS Foundation Trust Skymark Packaging: “We had a very short deadline on the placement after a long serving member of staff left the business and we had a short term cover in place. North Lindsey College took on board our specific requirements and within an hour of our meeting, we were supplied with the CVs. As you can see from the timescales, this was an exceptional effort on the Colleges part. They immediately grasped the urgency of our situation and offered us three viable alternatives to fulfil our requirements. Lucy has settled immediately into our environment and is already making her mark. I am delighted with the service that we have received from the College and look forward to conducting more business with them in the future.” Mark Coome, Selection, Training and Development Coordinator at Skymark Packaging Company Profile Singleton Birch: “Singleton Birch decided to take on an apprentice as a mutually beneficial arrangement, whereby a totally inexperienced young person can gain the skills with which to pursue a career whilst receiving training through North Lindsey College and on the job working with very experienced staff.” Ellen Tatterton, Financial Director at Singleton Birch 50 Index Academic Studies Mathematics -
