• Fundy Trail is a 2,559 hectare (6,323 acre) park featuring a
19 km (12 mile) driving parkway. It is operated by the Fundy
Trail Development Authority, a not-for-profit charitable
organization.
about the local history and the prosperous lumbering and
shipbuilding community that once was Big Salmon River.
There are also washroom facilities, historical pictures, a snack
shop and a small gift boutique.
• The Fundy Trail provides opportunities for you to seek out
pristine beaches, tumbling waterfalls, Precambrian rocks, and
to see cliffs that tower at the edge of the world famous Bay of
Fundy, home to the world’s highest tides. You’ll even have the
chance to be one of the first to explore Long Beach as visitors
are now able to drive the parkway right to the parking lot at
P12 adjacent to the beach. Long Beach is a 2.5 km tidal beach
that lets you wander the ocean floor at low tide!
• Please remember to adhere to the posted speed limit
signs, mostly 30 or 40 km/hour. This is a chip-sealed parkway
with loose gravel. Do not follow close behind another vehicle
to be safe and to avoid rock chips. When hiking, please keep
to the trails, leave no trace and take only photos. Respect all
wildlife. Place litter in bins. Drivers please watch for bicyclists
and walkers. Bicyclists, please respect trail walkers and
joggers. All pets must be kept on a leash. We ask for visitors to
respect park rules and hours and be at the gate prior to closing
time as that is when the gate will be locked.

• It is a large park to maintain and we do our best with a small
staff, however, if you see something that needs attention, we
would appreciate hearing from you. We hope that you enjoy
your day here and that you are able to come back soon!

• The Fundy Trail now lays claim to being part of two
UNESCO-designated sites, Stonehammer Global Geopark and
the Fundy Biosphere Reserve. The parkway travels through
251-million-year-old rock and gives way to breathtaking
coastal views.
• Stop by the Big Salmon River Interpretation Centre to learn
FIRST TIME VISITING THE TRAIL?
Here are some suggestions for you to consider:
• Fownes Head – stop here and walk the Flower Pot Rock
Scenic Path.
• Fuller Falls – view the falls from the upper observation
deck or walk down the cable ladder to get a closer look.
• Interpretive Centre – view the historic photos of the
community of Big Salmon River and talk with one of our
knowledgeable interpreters.
• Suspension Foot Bridge – cross the 84-m suspension
bridge at Big Salmon River.
• Long Beach Brook Falls – hike a moderate to strenuous
0.7 km trail to view our newest waterfalls, now part of our
extended parkway.
• Long Beach – visit New Brunswick’s Newest Beach –
newest accessible beach, that is! You can now drive 19 km of
parkway and park adjacent to this beach rather than have to
hike to it … but you still can if you would rather! Visit this 2.5
km beach that extends out .5 km at low tide!
