WE HAVE SOMETHING FOR
EVERYONE THIS SUMMER AT HCL
Summer Reading is here, and the Hampton
Community Library has programs for all
ages to get involved in! Over 115 individual
programs and activities have been planned
for this summer’s Reading Clubs. Summer
Reading isn’t just for kids!
2015 SUMMER READING CLUB
It’s time to soar into reading and become a superhero as we start the 2015 Summer Reading Club.
Lots of fun programs are planned for you to discover new books, and learn that every hero
has a story. Registration begins June 2, 2015.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO—IT’S AS EASY AS 1-2-3!
1) READ—All books must be read for the first time
after June 1, 2015.
You can read alone, or be read to by someone. We would prefer
that the books are checked out from Hampton Community
Library. This helps to keep our circulation statistics up, which
is important for our funding! But if you just bought new books
for the summer, feel free to read them—they count, too! When
you register, you will get a reading folder. As you read, please list
your books, magazines, and eBooks in your folder.
2) VISIT—Bring your folder with you every time you visit the Library!
When you come to the Library, you will get a special WEEKLY PRIZE (only ONE PRIZE per week)
and TWO RAFFLE tickets to take a chance on a variety of prizes. If you read more throughout
the week, list those items; each time you come back to the Library that same week with new titles
listed in your folder, you will get another TWO RAFFLE tickets! (Please note, you will only get
one WEEKLY PRIZE each week, no matter how many times you visit the Library.)
3) CELEBRATE—Our “End of Summer Reading Club Picnic” will be on August 13!
Mark your calendars! All raffle prizes will be awarded at the party. Winners do not need to
be present; they will be notified by phone. But we hope to see you there for a fun evening!
The reading programs are simple: read books;
get raffle tickets; win prizes! To help encourage
children and young adults to read, we will also
be offering a variety of programming created
around the summer themes.
For elementary students, if your school has
asked you to read throughout the summer,
please consider our program as a way to fulfill
your assignment. Read one book, and it counts
for both programs! At the Library, magazines,
books on CD, eBooks, and age appropriate
books all count. If you received new books,
they also count. We love when you check out
books from the Library, but we are happy to
see you reading books from home, too.
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU READ?





EVERY HERO HAS A STORY: Preschoolers
through 4th Graders will be able to become
Super Readers. Read books, visit the library,
join in our programs, and win great prizes!
UNMASK: Kids in 5th Grade through High
School. What will you discover when you
unmask a new book? Adventure? Mystery?
Romance? Zombies? Read books for your
chance to win prizes, plus take part in our
programs.
ESCAPE THE ORDINARY: All adults. How
will you escape the ordinary? Check-out a good
book, borrow a DVD, try a different genre,
or just learn something new by visiting the
Library. Read books, win prizes.
Over 115 Programs & Activities planned for everyone—
toddlers through adults!
Magazines do count! Check out our collection.
eBooks do count! Read on-the-go with your Kindle, Nook, or iPad.
Books on Tape/CD do count! Listen to them while following along
in the book or take them with you on vacation and listen in the car.
Watching movies does NOT count! It’s important to read throughout
the summer so you will be ready for school in September. Of course,
you can always watch movies for fun—we have plenty to share.
Everything is on the Honor System! We hope you are reading books
for your age/grade level.
