April 2016 CLINCHFIELD FEDERAL CREDIT UNION www.clinchfieldcu.com Hello from the CEO Dear CFCU Members, Remember the old song they used to sing on Hee Haw, “If it weren’t for bad news, I’d have no news at all”? It seems that’s all we are getting in the Valley Beautiful. It breaks my heart that some of the hard working employees of Regal Beloit will be without jobs in the next few months. Over the years, this plant has prospered because of their dedication and hard work. Just like the railroad! It’s hard to understand why things have to change. We are committed to working with each and every one of our members the best possible way we can when they have life changing things happen. It’s best if members come in as soon as they know things are changing so we can come up with a plan to help them. To me, that is why it is so important to do business with people that you know and that are local and easy to reach. Even though our community has suffered these horrible losses, I still believe it’s a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I honestly think we will be blessed with other job opportunities; I know a lot of people are working hard to make that happen! Thanks to all that attended the Annual Meeting; we had a wonderful evening of fun, laughter and fellowship. The Landmarks were great as usual and everyone enjoyed David Browning in his role as “The Mayberry Deputy”. I think everyone left with a smile on their face and enjoyed the evening! Congratulations to Walter Harris, Frank Cooke and Mitch Manuel for winning the election to serve another 3 year term on the Board of Directors. These gentlemen do a great job for our credit union and I am proud to serve with them! Congratulations to Reedie Griffith with five years’ service, Marsha Street with 10 years, Mimi Van Dyke with 20 years and Amy Banks with 25 years. Great employees and co-workers! Mr. Paul C. Monk was also recognized for his 35 years’ service on the Board of Directors, 26 of them as Chairman. He was described as “dedicated, working for the members and a ‘class act’!” It might have been mentioned, more than once, that he also likes to eat! We are still offering the HELOC promotion of 1.99% for the first year! This loan is the best emergency loan, disaster recovery loan, send your child to college loan, remodeling loan…..I could go on forever with what a great loan product it is and what it can do for you…..be sure to check it out; especially at this rate! We are promoting our new rewards Visa in many different ways! You really have to have at least one major credit card; why not have one that has a reasonable rate, rewards, and easy to reach help if needed? Of course, that would be ours! Prayers and best wishes for Vickie Chambers and hopes that she will return to work soon after having surgery. We miss this precious lady and wish good health for her! Welcome to our newest employee, Miss Sarah Garland. She did such a wonderful job as our student worker a few years ago that we grabbed her up and hired her back as a Member Service Rep. Special notes to two of my favorite people, Paul C. Monk and Amy Banks. I have had the privilege of working with Mr. Monk for 35 years and Amy for 25 years. They are my “go to” people when I need to talk and need someone to listen. I trust and respect them and feel honored and blessed to call them my friends!
