"SPICE TRADER" is a beautiful representation of only two 40' Monk Trawler's ever
built. She is a simi-custom yacht, unlike the 36' Monk, this Monk Trawler has a
very unique layout! She shows pride of ownership inside and out by her current
owners who just completed the mighty great loop. The Monk gained a lot of
popularity in the 80’s as a durable & affordable trawler with a classic profile and
traditional teak interior. Construction is solid fiberglass, 32,000lbs to be exact and

the hull features a skeg-protected prop as well as an up-swept, highly flared bow
which contributes to her dry ride in any and all weather conditions.
Low maintenance fiberglass decks with some wood accents on the exterior offer
just enough to lend a hint of “yacht” without dooming the owner to major upkeep.
The salon and galley floor plan of the Monk 40 makes getting around the boat
effortless and excellent for entertaining all on one level. On deck, the raised
bulwarks and a high rails make movement around the house safe and easy.
Additional features include all new wiring throughout the entire yacht,
immaculately clean engine room with bullet proof twin Lehman diesels, one of
which is new with only 250 hrs and the other in excellent condition with 3500 hrs,
"cruising kit" with spare parts of all sorts, new props and shafts, new
batteries, fuel tanks cleaned and polished, new plastic water holding tank,
reverse cycle a/c, a functional mast & boom assembly, a very spacious well laid
out flybridge, bow pulpit, swim platform, new bow-thruster, new Raymarine
electronics, LED lighting throughout, 2 fridges that run on a/c and d/c power and

Deck/Hull
The entire boat has been painted from boot stripe to the top of the mast with Sterling paint.
There is very little exposed teak, with some natural teak in the cockpit and some varnished teak
on the handrails (with canvas covers) and the sampson post. All exterior hardware is stainless
steel or chrome plated brass.
Canvas is in great Condition and bimini top w/ full enclosure has mesh sun covers for all
