Healthy Living for a Healthy Life: Inter-bank Health Challenge Update
As reported in last month’s bank newsletter (Volume 6, Issue 3), The State Bank of
Wynnewood is currently undergoing an inter-bank health challenge.
Further, the bank’s 17 employees organized themselves into two teams in March of this
year to begin the competition scheduled to end Monday, May 31.
In addition to a weight loss contest, staff members are now also tracking the total
number of miles each employee, and each team, walks.
This walking rivalry is intended to promote a healthier lifestyle, and prepare those of the
bank’s staff training for the Tenth Annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. The marathon
is scheduled for Sunday, April 25, in Oklahoma City.
The following updates are for both of the bank’s teams:
March 1 – April 1: Team One lost 10 pounds; Team Two lost 35 pounds
April 1 – April 4: Team One walked a total of 17.25 miles; Team 2 walked 23.5 miles

and golden brown; stir constantly. Next, remove the mixture from heat, add coconut and pecans, and mix well. Allow the
icing to cool to room temperature. Finally, spread icing between the cake layers, and cover with remaining icing. Enjoy!

24-hour Gas Stations, and TeleBanking
Considered “customer-oriented” by its staff, The State Bank of
Wynnewood is a financial institution focused on meeting the needs
of the individual.
Further, this customer service mentality has given the bank cause
to revolutionize the way that it approaches serving each customer.
With 24-hour gas stations, 24-hour grocery stores, and 24-hour
hardware stores, it stands to reason that there should also be 24-hour
banks. Thus, The State Bank of Wynnewood adapted to better serve
its customers.
One such example of this ongoing adaptation is TeleBanking.
In an attempt to allow customers more freedom “after hours”, The
State Bank of Wynnewood introduced TeleBanking in 1996, and
continues to improve the service.
An automated telephone service, banking-by-phone allows each
customer access to his or her account
balance, transaction information and more from a touch-tone phone.
Accessible from virtually anywhere in the world that telephone
service is available, TeleBanking is presented to customers at no
additional charge.
Most often preferred by customers with a busier lifestyle, banking-by-phone is designed to save
time by expediting the process used to retrieve personal account information.
However, before utilizing TeleBanking, users should have account numbers ready, in addition
to the personal identification number given to them by The State Bank of Wynnewood. This PIN
ensures security for every customer.
If a customer is a first time TeleBanking user, upon calling (405) 665-2002, he or she will be
instructed through a series of menus that will enable them to set their own PIN for future use.
Those customers that still wish to acquire an account balance by speaking to a bank employee
can call (405) 665-2001. The State Bank Of Wynnewood’s staff can be reached Monday through
Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Thoughts To Make You Think
“Dogs feel very strongly that they should always go with you
in the car, in case the need should arise for them to bark
violently at nothing right in your ear,” Dave Barry, Pulitzer
Prize-winning American author.
“Did you ever notice when you blow in a dog’s face he gets
mad at you? But when you take him in a car he sticks his head
out the window,” Steve Bluestone, American poet.
“The most affectionate creature in the world is a wet dog,”
Ambrose Bierce, American journalist.
“The biggest dog has been a pup,” Joaquin Miller, American poet.
Debbie Adams’ first job after high school had her in Pauls Valley, Okla., working for the International Rodeo Association.
As time passed, and vocations changed, Adams spent time as an employee with the Home Security Insurance Agency in
Pauls Valley, and First National Bank, later renamed Farmers and Merchants Bank, in Maysville, Okla.
“I was (at that bank) for ten years before going to work for seven years for TAW, Inc., in Lindsay, Okla., as the bookkeeper,
and administrative assistant,” she said.
According to Adams, it was the eventual relocation of TAW to Fort Smith, Arkansas, that found her unemployed.
“(Then) a good friend of mine called to tell me about a position open at The State Bank of Wynnewood,” she continued.
“The (bank) seemed to good to be true. I was offered the job.” And she accepted.
“Twelve years have passed and here I am, still working with a great team,” she said.
Sherri Harrell began her career with The State Bank of Wynnewood while looking for a loan.
“I came in to the bank to request a loan, and the then loan officer B. R. Harrison handed me a credit application along
with a job application,” she said.
Harrell then added that both her loan application, and job application were approved.
“I started work on April 16, 1979, in the bookkeeping area, (and) then later became a teller,” she continued.
Now, three-plus decades later, fate seems to have brought Harrell full circle.
“From (teller) I moved to a loan assistant position,” she said. “And from there became a loan officer, and vice president.”
All told, she wouldn’t trade either of those applications for the world.
“I’m still here, and enjoy working with the bank’s customers,” she said.
