Walt Stearns What is a Sea Mount? Sea Mounts are offshore submerged mountains, that create the perfect gathering spot for pelagics, like jacks, turtles, eagle rays and even whale sharks. Some sea mounts nearly break the surface while others are deeply submerged. Honduras’ famous Cocos Sea Mounts actually has two close peaks with a channel between them. The Cocos mounts are covered with prolific corals. Mariners may also refer to sea mounts as “banks.” • Visitors must have a current passport valid for more than six months.
