I t’s hard to believe that 10 years ago I started this traveling troupe with the dream and goal of bringing live theater to seniors who are challenged with health or mobility and can no longer get out to see live theater. With a desire to provide quality entertainment, I set out to find actors who shared my vision. OUR TENTH YEAR! The Now in our tenth anniversary season, we find ourselves sharing a decade of accomplishments and successes, and hundreds of newfound friends awaiting our next performance. My deepest thank you to every Vagabond Player who has given their time and talent to serve our community’s seniors. www.VagabondPlayersInc.com or (925) 689-3368 The Executive Director The Vagabond Players, Inc. 577 La Sata Drive Brentwood, CA 94513 Sharon Redman AR R TENTH YE U O G IN T A CELEBR ! We hope you have enjoyed our past plays and musicals and will help us celebrate our 10th year of performing for very special seniors like you! 2015 Season The Vagabond Players Bull In a China Shop A Funny Thing by C.B. Gilford When a houseful of sweet old ladies discover that a handsome bachelor lives across the street, they are delighted. When they learn that he is none other than Detective Dennis O’Finn of Homicide, they are faced with the problem of how to attract his attention. The answer is simplicity itself: a nice, genteel homicide with a cup of tea as the murder weapon. O’Finn is terribly embarrassed when he discovers that he himself is the motive for these madcap goings-on and manages to solve the case. But the dear old ladies are too fond of him and in the end they turn the tables on him! 2015 Season OU R T E NT H Y EA R ! t HAPPENED On the Way to the Forum r u o C o g n i m Fla Book by Burt Shevelove & Larry Gelbart Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim The Broadway hit musical, set in Rome during the first century A.D. during the early years of the Roman Empire, opens with one of the musical’s most famous songs, “Comedy Tonight.” The ever-funny comic bit of mistaken identities. May/June 2015 by Luigi Creatore This two-part “slice of life” takes place in two condos of an apartment complex, where many retirees live. The comedy will have audiences laughing at the truth they see in what might be their own neighbors—only zanier. Promises uproarious laughter and great entertainment. A must-see theatrical event for audiences of all ages. August/September 2015 El Campanil Theatre: 6/14 El Campanil Theatre: 9/27 January/February 2015 El Campanil Theatre: 2 /15 For additional information, including performance dates and venues: www.VagabondPlayersInc.com or (925) 689-3368 Leading Ladies Too Old For The Chorus But Not Too Old To Be A Star By Marie Cain Mark Winkler & Shelly Markham by Ken Ludwig In this hilarious comedy by the author of Lend Me A Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo, two English Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing “Scenes from Shakespeare” on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, Pennsylvania, is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long-lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren’t nephews, but nieces! Romantic entanglements abound, especially when Leo falls in love with the old lady’s vivacious niece, Meg, who’s engaged to the local minister. Slapstick goofiness, scrambled Shakespeare, and good-natured laughs make Leading Ladies an irresistible treat. March/April 2015 El Campanil Theatre: 4/19 In the Rest Room at Rosenblooms by Ludmilla Bollow This contemporary comedy reveals the hopes, dreams, and fears of three elderly ladies who spark their lonely lives by meeting daily in the rest room lounge of an outdated downtown department store, and the crazy/ touching events that occur the day one of them is supposedly threatened. A very funny play of character and situations. Quirky characters, punchy lines, and lighthearted humor. July/August 2015 El Campanil: 8/23 A musical revue about men and women who find themselves suddenly 50! Set in their neighborhood retro coffee shop, five characters express the gamut of their frustrations and joys—from troublesome relations with still-demanding parents and cutting-edge technology to finding delight in second careers (and second chances), getting smarter, and finally knowing that age is just a number and being appreciated for exactly who you are —all while getting a senior discount. You’ll leave rethinking 50 as 27, with 23 years of experience. A lively musical revue with lyrics that rival Cole Porter and Noel Coward. October/November 2015 El Campanil Theatre: 11/15 The
