THE BEST MAN - THE DRESSING ROOM THEATRE September 15 thru October 2 Directed By John Atkin The Best Man crackles with the smart lines and situations inherent to the work of Gore Vidal. The political intrigues rampant in Vidal’s 1960 setting are strangely similar to that of the present day. This darkly satirical drama finds two presidential contenders seeking the endorsement of an aging ex-president and explores how personal agendas can change the course of a nation’s destiny. RAGTIME - THE KWESKIN THEATRE September 23 thru October 22 Directed by George S. Croom At the dawn of a new century, everything is changing…and anything is possible. The stories of an upper-class wife, a determined Jewish immigrant and a daring young Harlem musician unfold. Set in turn-of-the-century New York, all three people are united by their desire and belief in a brighter tomorrow. Their compelling stories are set to a rich and glorious score. Winning Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Musical Score, Ragtime is a sweeping, powerful musical about a restless period in our history. But it is also an intimate story about love, loss and growing up. GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS - THE DRESSING ROOM THEATRE October 20 thru November 6 Directed by Julie Bell Petrak This Pulitzer Prize-winning drama will be presented like you’ve never seen it before: with an all-female cast. When an office full of agents is given the news that all but the top two will be fired at the end of the week, the atmosphere begins to heat up. The play shows the lives of four desperate agents who are prepared to engage in any number of unethical, illegal acts—from lies and flattery to bribery, threats, intimidation and burglary—to sell undesirable real estate to unwitting prospective buyers. It is based on author David Mamet's experience working in a similar office. RATED R for language. SCROOGE: THE MUSICAL - THE KWESKIN THEATRE November 18 thru December 17 Directed by Kari Sweeney Efferen Start your holiday season off with this classic! Scrooge: The Musical is a 1992 stage musical with book, music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse. Its score and book are closely adapted from the music and screenplay of the 1970 musical film Scrooge. It closely follows the plot of Charles Dickens' “A Christmas Carol,” in which the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a profound experience of redemption over the course of a Christmas Eve night, after being visited by the ghost of his former partner Jacob Marley and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. (Special Saturday afternoon performances scheduled too.) A MERRY MULBERRY STREET MUSICAL - THE DRESSING ROOM THEATRE December 1 thru 17 Directed by Brian Bianco BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! THE DELVAL DIVAS - THE DRESSING ROOM THEATRE January 12 thru 29 Directed by Gail Yudain Stella Wild, MBA, Rosemary Adams, JD/MBA, Linda Robertson, MD.,Ph.D., and Beth Ziegler, MBA, have some things in common. Besides being educated, successful, professional women, they also share the same address. It isn't a swanky high rise apartment building or a beachfront condo - they reside at the Delaware Valley Federal Correctional Facility, a low-level security prison for white and "pink" collar criminals. With the Warden in one pocket and their cell block guard in another, the "Divas" continue to indulge their lavish and luxurious lifestyles until Beth is prematurely released and a murderess moves in to her place. Adding insult to injury, the Department of Corrections has announced its intention to close the Delval facility due to mismanagement and relocate inmates to the less-thanglamorous Black Rock Federal Prison. How do the Divas save Delval, solve a murder and reunite on a Roman holiday? Who ever said that crime doesn't pay? THE WHO’S TOMMY - THE KWESKIN THEATRE February 2 thru 18 Directed by Robi Hager A deaf, dumb and blind boy's journey from pain to triumph is a sensory-defying rock and roll experience. Based on the iconic 1969 rock concept album, The Who's Tommy is an exhilarating story of hope, healing, and the human spirit. This five-time Tony Award-winning musical was translated to the stage by theatrical wizard Des McAnuff into a high-energy, one-of-a-kind theatrical event. After witnessing the accidental murder of his mother's lover by his father, Tommy is traumatized into catatonia, and as the boy grows, he suffers abuse at the hands of his sadistic relatives and neighbors. As an adolescent, he's discovered to have an uncanny knack for playing pinball, and when his mother finally breaks through his catatonia, he becomes an international pinball superstar. May not be appropriate for younger audiences. THE DAYS OF WINE & ROSES - THE DRESSING ROOM THEATRE March 2 thru 19 Directed by Richard Mancini This drama depicts the slow deterioration of a marriage due to alcoholism as ambitious ad man Joe Clay gets his wife Kristen to join him in drinking bouts that soon begin to destroy their lives. Using the framework of an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, Joe gets up to address the gathering and his story is told in flashbacks that begin 10 years earlier. How they met, where it begins and how it will end play out in this award-winning drama. BEAUTY & THE BEAST - THE KWESKIN THEATRE Mar. 31 thru Apr. 29 Directed by Brian Bianco BE OUR GUEST as this Academy Award-winning film comes to life in a romantic and beloved take on the classic fairytale. The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. Perfect family entertainment. THE INDEPENDENTS - THE DRESSING ROOM THEATRE April 13 thru 23 Directed by Christopher Ward This is a bold new play about the great American impressionist Mary Cassatt and her stormy relationship with the demanding French artist Edgar Degas. Their short tumultuous time together resulted in the creation of a series of masterpieces that stunned the art world. These two strong-willed independent artists never backed down from a fight, nor failed to use their razor sharp wit to win an argument. The Independents is as humorous as it is educational. Fear not: you don’t need to know anything about art to enjoy the show. The great works of Cassatt and Degas will be prominently featured throughout the performance. The Independents will be an entertaining, enriching and enlightening experience for all who attend. THE MAN WITH THE GLASS HEART - THE DRESSING ROOM THEATRE May 4 thru 14 Directed by Carole Claps WORLD PREMIERE! This original musical was first presented as a concert reading in our Musical Monday’s series and is now here for its first full-scale production. The story of father and son is a tale as old as time or in this case, as old as glass. The father in this 5th century story seeks appreciation for the gifts he gives his son, who rejects them but goes on to invent modern glass-making and surpass his father’s wildest dreams. SWEET CHARITY - THE KWESKIN THEATRE June 2 thru 24 Directed by Debra Lee Failla Sweet Charity is a tender, poignant and consistently funny look at the adventures, or rather, the misadventures, in the ways of love encountered by the gullible and guileless lady known as Charity Hope Valentine. Charity sings, dances, laughs and cries her way through romances with the “animal magnetism” hero, the “ultra-chic continental” hero, and the “impossible-to believe-but-he’s-better than nothing” type hero. Her world is the all too real world of Times Square, and the people who pass through her world are a deceptively charming a group. This is a bright and sophisticated show in every sense. Neil Simon has a particular talent for looking at the truly amusing side of life. Wonderful musical numbers include Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now, Too Many Tomorrows, There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This, I’m a Brass Band and Baby, Dream Your Dream. ..and fabulous dancing too!
