On A Smaller Scale
While large-scale flooring tends to work very well
in larger rooms, smaller rooms may feel more
proportionate to our narrower 3 1⁄2" and 5" plank
widths. It’s always a good idea to borrow or buy
several samples of the flooring you are considering
and lay them in place to gauge the effect. Remember,
too, that lengthwise patterns add depth to rooms,

drawbacks. Grout can stain without proper sealing and
routine maintenance. And tile can be cold, hard and
unforgiving. With Wilsonart Flooring, however, you’ll

surface underfoot along with super easy maintenance:
no grout cleaning, sealing or replacement required!
Laying Tiles
Wilsonart Flooring tiles look great when installed in
Clift Slate, W3000209
a traditional corner-to-corner manner – and the large
15 1⁄2" square format fits right in with today’s trend
toward larger format tiles. If you’re installing the tile in
a small area, consider having the tile laid diagonally.
And for a totally different twist on tradition, you can
even lay the tile in a staggered manner, similar
to creating a brick pattern.

HPL Construction –
the Wilsonart Difference
High Pressure Laminate (HPL) is manufactured at 1400 PSI
of pressure. In comparison, Direct Pressure Laminate (DPL) is
manufactured at 300-500 PSI. Even though both laminate types
are made of the same basic materials, the pressure used
in the manufacturing process helps determine both hardness
and performance.

core material using pressure
between 300-500 pounds
per square inch.
The following test was used to show the difference between Direct
Pressure Laminate (DPL) and High Pressure Laminate (HPL). Laminate
flooring planks were laid on Wilsonart 2-In-1 Pad and placed on
concrete. A simulated can weighing 396 g (the weight of a 14 oz. can
of soup) was dropped vertically from a height of 36 inches (standard
countertop height) onto the floor’s decorative surface. The resulting
damage was cross-sectioned and photographed at 10x magnification.
