CHAPERONE DUTIES & RIGHTS
• Monitor behavior on bus
• Daily/nightly check in
• Communication of schedule
• Handing out & collecting tickets
• Handling med. forms, medical emergencies, and first­aid.
• Making decisions for the well­being of the students. • in the absence of Mrs. Thacker, Mr. Kennedy, or Mr. Nitschke
• All Adults on this trip are considered Chaperones
• Failure to comply with a chaperone’s decisions WILL get you sent home.
• Chaperones have the power to call quiet time on the bus.

STUDENT CONDUCT GUIDELINES
• No excessive noise, loud talking, screaming, rowdiness or disruptive behavior.
• Vandalism will not be tolerated.
• No inappropriate displays of affection.
• Students will sit in assigned seats trading between seat partners is allowed.
• No inappropriate use of elevators.
• Do not hang clothing from sprinklers in rooms.
• Inappropriate dress will not be tolerated.

• Always travel with a group.
• Do not leave the hotel, museum, etc. unless with the entire group.
• Students will be allowed to explore Michigan Ave. as long as they have checked out with their Chaperone, and are in a group of 4 or more
• Do not leave with a relative unless ok’d by Mrs. Thacker PRIOR to leaving Sandusky.
• Get enough sleep.
• Eat enough food.
• Drink enough water.
• ALL SCHOOL RULES APPLY!!!
• Be organized! We will NOT return to the hotel for forgotten items.
• Alcohol, tobacco, drugs not prescribed for you are not allowed: chaperones AND students.
• NO illegal actions will be tolerated. We will call your parents and report to administration THEY will deal with it.

HOW WE WILL DEAL WITH INFRACTIONS
• FIRST OFFENSE­PHONE CALL HOME, STUDENT WILL BE ASSIGNED TO A CHAPERONE FOR 24 HOURS.
• SECOND OFFENSE­STUDENT WILL BE SENT HOME AT PARENTS EXPENSE.
*Unless otherwise stated in the trip handbook
• Directors reserve the right to skip the chaperone assignment depending on the severity of an infraction.

HOTEL GUIDELINES
• No student may change rooms.
• No banging on walls, doors, floors etc.
• No running in hallways.
• No improper dress/language.
• No unkempt rooms.
• Any damage/stolen articles will be paid for by the entire room if we cannot prove who is responsible.

• SHS directors, chaperones, hotel, Noteworthy, or anyone else will NOT be held responsible for any lost, stolen, or broken items during this entire trip­if you bring it, you are responsible for it!
• If someone knocks on your door, FIND OUT WHO IT IS BEFORE YOU OPEN THE DOOR!!!
• If you do not know the person on the other side, DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR!!!!
• Parents, please take time to discuss hotel/city safety with your children!

• If housekeeping, maintenance, or security knocks and you are not expecting them, DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR!!!
• Do not congregate in your room­get out and enjoy the hotel. Play cards in the lobby. You should not have more than 4 people in your room at any time

• AT NO TIME EVER, EVER, IS A GIRL ALLOWED IN A BOY’S ROOM AND A BOY IS NEVER EVER ALLOWED IN A GIRL’S ROOM. NO EXCEPTIONS. IF YOU ARE CAUGHT YOU WILL BE SENT HOME AT YOUR PARENTS EXPENSE, IF I HEAR RUMORS I WILL ASSIGN YOU TO A CHAPERONE FOR THE REMANDER OF THE TRIP. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO EXCUSES. 32
• AT NO TIME EVER, EVER ARE YOU ALLOWED TO ENTER THE ROOM OF SOMEONE NOT AFFILIATED WITH OUR TRIP, AND YOU ARE NOT TO ALLOW ANYONE NOT AFFILIATED WITH OUR TRIP INTO YOUR ROOM. THIS IS JUST A DANGEROUS, BAD IDEA NO MATTER HOW GOOD LOOKING, SWEET, KIND, AND CHARMING THE OTHER PERSON SEEMS TO BE!!
• Lights out must happen ½ hour after curfew, you will need the sleep!

TRIP CLOTHING
• Nice Jeans/pants, long sleeve shirts, sweat shirts, T­Shirts
• Comfy shoes & socks as needed
• Bathing suits?
• Warm coat/hat/gloves? • 2 nice outfit for Medieval Times/Symphony Nice Jeans/top/shoes
• Watch with a fresh battery­Cell charger

LUGGAGE
• 1 Suitcase no larger than 30” & 40 lbs.
• 1 Carry on bag (no larger than a book bag) Do not bring your huge sports bags. We will not allow them.
Please pack any and all items needed for the 6 hr. bus ride. You will not be able to get into your suit case after it is dropped off Thursday morning, until approximately 3:30pm Friday.

ALL TOILETRIES MUST BE NEW AND SEALED!
We will remove any items that are questionable.
This is for the safety of all our students. We do not want anyone smuggling any questionable substances on the trip. If it is not sealed, smells of alcohol, or does not resemble the the material stated on the bottle it will be labled and left in Sandusky, and returned upon our arrival. ALL medication MUST be registered with Mrs. Thacker. This includes over the counter items. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

MONEY
Budget Wisley!
• Each person will have to decide on how much money you want for souvenirs. Much will be available in the line of mementos at all of our stops.
• You will need enough money to cover 3 lunches (food courts), 1 dinner (rest area on the way home), and all snacks. Most meals will be around 8­10$. • Bring your money in small bills, do not brag about how much you have, and do not keep all of your money in one place. Travelers checks/pre­
paid Visa cards are encouraged…no personal checks please.

MEALS TO BUY
• March 30: Breakfast in Sandusky (or at home) Lunch at the Museum of Science and Industry (food court)
• March 31: Lunch at the Zoo or Navy Pier
• April 1: Lunch on your own at Water Tower Place or immediate area (with group) Dinner en route (service plaza)

OTHER IMPORTANT INFO
• The average March/April temperature for Chicago is the possible high of 51 and low of 34. It is windy on the lake! • ALWAYS travel in groups! (Yes, even the bathroom)
• Students will be permitted to experience museums/zoo/navy pier with out a chaperone.
• Any student in a group of 4 or more wanting to leave Water Tower Place for other shopping/lunch experiences may do so ONLY with chaperone notification.
• If you are in need of assistance during an excursion, call/find a chaperone, director, or police officer/security guard/building staff
member. All students will have
chaperone/director cell phone numbers. • Bus departure times are important. Any student late for a departure time will be assigned to a chaperone for the remainder of the trip.

Medical Information
Mrs. Thacker, MUST be aware of ANY medical conditions your child may have. From something as simple as cramps or headaches to more serious conditions.
