Have you ever met someone 120 years old? I know I haven’t. I do have a few friends who are approaching the century mark, though. Actually, as I thought more about it, I realized that one of my best friends is turning 120. Peniel Camp has been a great friend in my life. For over 20 years now, I have been blessed by the ministry and wonderful friendships that Peniel has given me. So, is Peniel old at 120? I suppose that depends on your perspective. One-hundred twenty years is old for a human being. Genesis 6:3 reads, “Then the LORD said, ‘My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.’” It does appear today that 120 years is about the top end of the human life cycle. In fact, in modern recorded history, only one person is known to have lived beyond 120 years. So, it is true, 120 is a long time if you look at it from a human perspective. How about from God’s perspective? James 4:14 refers to our life as a “vapor” – it goes that fast! So, if that’s how God sees even the longest life, then he looks at Peniel like it is a baby! And you know what? I think he is a pretty proud Papa! God has done and is doing some pretty special things through the ministry of Peniel, and given God’s perspective on time, it may be that he is just getting started! We should always keep in mind the thought that our lives are “but a vapor.” However, the decisions that we make during our short lives have lasting, eternal impacts. That’s what Peniel is all about. We exist to give people an opportunity to come face to face with Jesus Christ. Now, there are other reasons to go to Peniel like fun, friends, food, fellowship, recreation, and getting a break from the rat race. www.penielholinesscamp.com There’s nothing wrong with that, but the most important reason has always been, and must always remain, JESUS. So, Peniel is now 120. You are somewhere south of that, but the blessings of Peniel could last all of eternity for you. Peniel stands ready to pour out the blessings of God again this year. Don’t miss it! Whether you consider yourself young, old or somewhere in between, Lori, DJ, Courtney, Josh and I look forward to seeing you at Peniel this year!
