Betty Crawford is here but did have surgery on her shoulder last week. Doris Mobley told of her miracle of reuniting with a friend after an absence of 16 years. Betty & Norm Turnage have a joy, a new daughter-inlaw. We had one visitor named Laura. Our class retreat is this month, May 21. Try to invite any former classmates to this retreat at Sunny Ridge at 9:00 am. Faith and forgiveness are Maryanne’s tropic for today. No matter how small, your faith will grow. Do we need to increase our faith? We need to act on it. It is not the quantity of faith, but the quality that counts. How can we forgive some of the atrocities in this world? We are not God’s equal. It is easier to forgive someone if they ask for forgiveness. Attendance - 30. HEBREWS CLASS: This Sunday in class we had a class business based discussion instead of an official lesson. Thank you to everyone who helped with the PNS Sandwich making on Saturday, and to the Upper Room Class for buying! We were so excited to get to participate! We had 7 people in class and we talked about a lot of different topics. Please let us know your thoughts on these subjects through our Facebook page (more detailed version on FB): • Class Trip • Clean Out Day • July 4th • Fall Fest • Graduation Sunday • Communication • Expand the Class PARTNERS IN FAITH: We had 17 PIF’ers in class this morning. Thank you to the Wills for providing our snacks. Very scrumptious! We completed the chapter 12 discussion questions and will begin reading chapter 13 next week. With our current study book coming to a close the class has decided to work through God Was Here & I Was Out To Lunch. We took a count in class of how many books we needed to order this morning. If you were not in class and you would like a book please contact President Wills. The books will be ordered this week and the cost of the book is $10. The PIF Class is scheduled to work the resale shop on the 13th and 14th of this month. We have filled all shifts with the exception of Friday afternoon. Please check your schedule and see if you are available to help. While you have your calendar out go ahead and block out the morning of Saturday, August 4th. Our class is scheduled to make sandwiches for the Night Shelter on that date. We were all joyful this morning that we escaped the bad weather last week without any damage. We must always remember to pray daily for God to keep us in the palm of His hand and keep us safe. During your daily prayer time this week please remember Mary Ross. Have a great week! Snacks: Judy White UPPER ROOM CLASS: Dr. Martha continued our study of the Book of James. It's hard to realize that what we are studying was written many years ago. The same things are occurring in our lives today. Next Sunday we will start with chapter 4, verse 4. Twenty-seven members and one visitor was present. The Upper Room Class had a great retreat with 39 members present. We were greatly impressed with our study speaker, Tim Madigan, who is a writer and columnist. Three gentlemen named Gary, Neil & Danny entertained us by singing old country & old gospel music. Of course, we had to join in on quite a few of them. Our lunch was delicious and catered by the Chicken Place. Excerpt From The Past: Our records indicate that the Upper Room Class took over the preparations for the Thanksgiving Dinners in 1978. We've been having so much fun in the youth department this past week. We threw a surprise birthday party for Nic. He turned 25 this past Sunday! Sunday school has been wonderful too. Pastor Mel has been teaching confirmation to the whole class. Some are relearning and some learning for the first time. The confirmation dinner will be held on May 13 at 7pm in the Fellowship Hall. We are very excited about that! We really REALLY need 2 more adults to attend the youth mission trip to West Helena, Arkansas! It is June 1218. If anyone is interested, please contact Tristin. We need 2 by this Friday! Again, thank you so much for your love and support as always.
