Common TV Ratings Terms
Rating - A percentage of total households or population owning TV’s
who are tuned to a particular program or station at a specific time.
Share - Percentage of all TV’s in use that are tuned to a particular
program at a particular time.
HUT (households using television) - The percentage of all
television households in a survey area with one or more sets in use
during a specific time period.
PUT (Persons using television) - The percentage of all persons
in a surveyed area using television during a specific time period.
