Mr. Floyd Henry Hartsfield, Sr., died
Tuesday, October 12, 2015 at his
residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00
P.M. Thursday, October 15th in the
chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors
with Rev. Joe Crumley officiating.
Interment will follow in Paulk’s Chapel
Cemetery, Scooterville with military
honors. The family will receive friends
from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the
funeral home.
Pallbearers are Jason Hartsfield, Jamie
Hartsfield, Ricky Justice, Jody Brown,
Jimmy Parker, Marlin Williams, Jeff
Hartsfield and Gerald Hartsfield.
Mr. Hartsfield was born December 23,
1942 in Worth County to the late James
T. and Clyde Lorene Saunders
Hartsfield. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by his wife;
Betty Lewis Harts field who died
August 4, 2015, twin daughters,
Charline and Irene who died in 1969,
two brothers and one sister. He was a
retired meter technician with the City of
Tifton water department. Mr. Hartsfield
served in the U.S. Army 502nd
Airborne, during the Vietnam War. He
was a bee keeper who enjoyed working
with his hives and hunting dove, quail
and deer. He also enjoyed working on
his farm and traveling, especially in the
Cherokee Mountains. Most of all he
loved the time he spent with his family.
They were the center of his life.
Mr. Hartsfield is survived by one
daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and
Mark Driskell of Tifton; one son and
daughter-in-law, Floyd Hartsfield, Jr.,
and Karin of Tifton, four grandchildren,
Austin Hartsfield, Zachary Driskell,
Brandon and Jessica Driskell and Andy
and Cassie Giles; two greatgrandchildren, Jace Driskell and Haven
Mae Giles; one brother and sister-inlaw, James T. Hartsfield, Jr. and Mary;
six sisters and three brothers-in-law,
Margie Kate Justice, LaRue and David
Perkins, Dorothy and Richard Albright,
Ruby Parker, Linda Faye Littleton and
Mary Jo and Gary Wayne Brown; and
numerous nieces and nephews.

James Buren “J.B.” Carr, 86, of Tifton,
died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Tift
Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00
P.M. Wednesday, October 14th in the
chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors
with Rev. Gerald Purvis officiating.
Interment will follow in Oakridge
Cemetery. The family will receive
friends from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the
funeral home.
Born July 11, 1929 in Irwin County to
the late Jack and Artie Bledsoe Carr, he
was former owner of Carr’s Grocery on
Hwy. 125 N. In addition to his parents,
he is preceded in death by a brother,
Dalton Carr. Mr. Carr served in the U.S.
Army during the Korean War conflict.
He was a long-time member of New
River Baptist Church, where he served
as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and
superintendent. Mr. Carr enjoyed
fishing, playing the Mandolin and
traveling. Most of all he enjoyed
spending time with his family,
especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Carr is survived by his wife of 65
years, Marthalyn Abbott Carr of Tifton;
two sons and daughters-in-law, Stan and
Joan Carr of Tifton and Randy and
Margaret Carr of Macon; five
grandchildren, Jill Carr, Katie (Jon)
Sneed, Amy (Eric) Hagan, James
Turnmire and Stephanie (Chad)
Alexander; five great grandchildren,

Mrs. Juanita Gray Willis, 100, of
Tifton, died Sunday, October 11, 2015
at her residence.
A memorial service will be held at
4:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 17th at
First United Methodist Church with
Rev. Benjy Varnell officiating. The
family will receive friends from 2:30
until 3:30 before the service at the
church.
Mrs. Willis was born October 9, 1915
in Lexington, KY to the late James
Arthur Gray and Martha Wilson Gray.
She was also preceded in death by her
husband, William Tony Willis, who
died in 1992, an infant son, Carlton
Gray, her dear neighbor and friend,
Marion Whiddon and friends, Harriet
Rowe and Bo Stafford.
Mrs. Willis was retired from Whiddon
Moving and Storage and was an owner
of Byron Cafeteria, which she and her
husband operated until 1992. She
supported her family and husband
during his service to our country,
serving in WWII. She and her husband
Tony raised twin sons that have gone
on to be a CPA and the other served as
a principal in the Dekalb County school
system.
At the age of 72, Mrs. Willis entered
the halls of ABAC in the pursuit of a
college degree. At the age of 77, she
received her four year business degree
from Georgia Southwestern University.
She was a recipient of The George A.
Wright Memorial Award.
Mrs. Willis was an active member of
First United Methodist Church, where
she served on the Council of Ministries
and served on the Administrative
Board. She was past president of Club
55, a Sunday school teacher, and was a
member of the Christian Covenant
Sunday School Class, where she also
served as past president and treasurer.
She was a member of several bridge
clubs, was a past member of the Garden
Club, Tifton Junior Women’s Club and
had also formed an investment club.
Mrs. Willis never stopped learning,
always reading and later listening to
books on tapes. She enjoyed traveling
in the U.S. and abroad. Mrs. Willis
served on the Meals on Wheels
program for many years serving in
various roles from serving food,
delivering food, serving on the board of
directors and soliciting funds to fulfill
the many requests for meals by
Tiftareans. Her caring and compassion
not only addressed their physical needs
but their emotional needs by visiting
the sick and lonely frequently. She was
also involved with our local United
Way program, Special Olympics and
was on the Brother Charlie’s Rescue
Center Board of Directors.
Mrs. Willis is survived by two sons
and one daughter-in-law, Tommy and
Jan Willis of Snellville, GA and Tony
Willis of Key West, FL; special niece,
Judy Slack of Albuquerque, NM; three
grandchildren, Marty Watt, Jennifer
Willis and Tommy (Samantha) Willis,
Jr.; and one great grandchild, Madison
Watt. The family wishes to thank her
devoted caregivers.

VALDOSTA – Nolan W. Register, 65,
of Valdosta passed away Wednesday,
October 7, 2015, at his residence. A
private service and burial will be held
at a later date.
Mr. Register was born May 25, 1950
in Jasper, Florida, the son of James
Elvin Register and Sally Ward Register,
both deceased. He was also preceded
in death by a step-daughter, Amanda
Rose Chambers; a brother, Jimmy
Register; and a sister, Sarah Smithie.
He was a pipe-fitter with Georgia
Automatic Sprinklers. He loved fishing
and having a good time.

Valdosta; two daughters, Amy and
Tandy of Lakeland; two brothers and a
sister-in-law, Dewey and Lisa Register

TIFTON – Myrtice Walker, 74, of
Tifton went home to be with the Lord
October 8, 2015. A graveside funeral
service was held for Miss Walker at
2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2015, at
Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she was
laid to rest. Rev. Brantley Seymour
officiated.

Miss Walker was born May 6, 1941 in
Tifton, the daughter of Brown and
Kathleen Outlaw Walker, both

death by a brother, Emory Eugene
“Gene” Walker; and a brother-in-law,
Danny Scarborough. She was a
member of New Bethel Baptist Church
in Tifton and a loving sister to her
identical twin sister, Myrtle. She was a
faithful and dedicated Avondale Mills
employee until her medical retirement.
Her favorite pastime was spending time
with and loving her nieces, nephews,

TIFTON – Jack L. Grubbs, Jr., 81, of
Tifton passed away Thursday, October
8, 2015, at his residence. His funeral
service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday,
October 12, 2015, at New River Baptist
Church in Tifton with Rev. Gerald
Purvis officiating. Mr. Grubbs’ son,
Brad, will give a eulogy. Mr. Grubbs
was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Grubbs was born February 1, 1934
in Doerun, the son of Jack L. Grubbs,
Sr. and Osa Irene Giddens Grubbs, both
deceased. He was also preceded in
death by his sister, Edna Johnson. He
attended Georgia Tech and served in the
United States Navy.
Until his
retirement, he was employed as an
electronics engineer at the Naval
Surface Weapons Center in White Oak,
Maryland. He was a member of New
River Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mr. Grubbs is survived by his wife,
Bertha Ann Mashburn Grubbs of Tifton;
two daughters, Robin Meadows and
Linda Giroux, both of Tifton; one son
and daughter-in-law, Brad and Crystal
Grubbs of Macon; his grandchildren
and their spouses, Nicholas and Chasity
James of Elko, Katie Giroux of Tifton,
Austin Grubbs and Aiden Grubbs, both

of Tifton passed away Thursday,
October 8, 2015, at the Rehabilitation
Center of South Georgia in Tifton. Her

Funerals with Dr. Wayne Roe
officiating. Mrs. Kincaid was laid to
rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Kincaid was born January 26,
1926, the daughter of Joseph William
Miller and Alice Barfield Miller, both
deceased. She was also preceded in
death by her husband, Edward Earl
Kincaid; and a sister, Joeda Dixon. She
retired from the First Community Bank
of Tifton and was a member of Tifton’s
First Baptist Church and the Garden
Club. She enjoyed working in her yard,
designing floral arrangements and
dancing. She also loved hosting family
holidays and dinners and being with her
grandchildren. She always had an
adored cat and had a knack for
attracting and caring for strays. She
was a lifelong resident of Tifton.
Mrs. Kincaid is survived by two sons
and daughters-in-law, Gary and
Deborah Kincaid of Tifton and Jeff and
Janet Kincaid of Atlanta; one sister and
brother-in-law, Peggy and Milton Scott
of Lantana, Florida; six grandchildren
and their spouses, Kristyn and Brannen
Cummings of Atlanta, Pate and
Rebecca Kincaid of Greenville, South
Carolina, Holly Kincaid of Savannah,
Matthew Kincaid, Jason Smith and
Janna Smith, all of Atlanta; and four
great-grandchildren.

15, 2015, at Liberty Baptist Church in
Tifton with Rev. Steve Tucker
officiating. Mrs. Kimbrell was laid to
rest at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery
in Tifton.
Wesley Kimbrell, David Kimbrell, Joel
Kimbrell, Zack Padgett, Troy Davis and
Corie Lloyd served as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were members of
the Cleo McAllister Sunday school
class at Liberty Baptist Church in
Tifton.
Mrs. Kimbrell was born August 19,
1938 in Berrien County Georgia but
lived in Tifton most of her life. She
moved to Fitzgerald with her second
husband, Jack Kimbrell.
Velma was proceeded in death by her
parents, Ollie Glen Davis and Velma
Gladys Hall Davis. She was also
proceeded in death by her first husband,
Joe Brown Fletcher and her brother
Oscar Wayne Davis. Velma had no
children. She married Jack Kimbrell
after her first husband’s death. She had
two step-children by this marriage.
In addition to her husband, Jack
Kimbrell of Fitzgerald, she is survived
by a brother, Jimmy Lynn Davis; a
sister, Juanita Davis Lloyd Sigman; and
many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews
and friends. We will all miss her. She
was a very special person.
Velma attended Chula Elementary
School and Tift County High School
where she was a star basketball player.
She worked in banking all her life. She
worked for C & S Bank, Farmers Bank
and then was branch manager for First
Community Bank in Tifton, Ga. where
she retired.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist
Church, loved her God and her family.
She was devoted to her family and took
care of her Mother for years after her
Dad passed. She was an avid reader,
enjoyed making quilts and gardening.
