A Christmas Carol
The Evening In 1843 Charles Dickens wrote a story that would change the face of Christmas. The book was written in early Victorian Era Britain, a period when there was strong nostalgia for old pre-Puritanical Christmas traditions. With new customs being introduced, such as the Christmas Tree by Prince Albert and Queen Victoria, to the sending of the first Christmas Card, Dickens was inspired to write a tale that would reinvigorate Christmas traditions. His tale showed his audience not only his sympathy for the poor, but his own humiliating experiences he went through as a child. A Christmas Carol was indeed a great success! Mr. Dickens toured throughout Great Britain and America performing his tale of Ebenezer Scrooge to large enthusiastic audiences. Tonight Mr. Dickens invite you to take a journey to Olde England for this timeless treasured tales.
