Dear Girl Scouts, Friends, and Family,
What an amazing year it has been! As part of our
three-year strategic initiative to improve our facilities,
we have made many changes over the last twelve
months! As I look forward to the next year of GSCB
Outdoor Programming, I can’t help but reflect on all the
wonderful changes that have taken place.
Keli Berkman and Emily Bennett joined us as directors
of Camp Grove Point and Camp Todd, respectively.
Property improvements were made with new archery
ranges, docks, GaGa pits, and more! Finally, we have
been able to continue to expand our offerings of camps
and year round programs to keep up with the interests
and the speed of today’s girls! So check out this guide to
see what’s going on at camp for the next year. We hope
you’ll be a part of it!

Keli Berkman
Camp Grove Point
Born and raised in Salisbury, MD, my love for outdoor education grew on the
waterways of the Eastern Shore! I graduated from Salisbury University with a
degree in Psychology and Outdoor Education Leadership.
Before joining Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay, I served as the Program
Manager for Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia for three years, developing my love
for camp and building a space for young girls to thrive in leadership.
I invite your camper to a different summer experience at Camp Grove Point
— one where campers not only frolic in the outdoors, but develop skills that will empower them to seek
challenges, believe in themselves and make new friendships!

Camp Todd
I love camp with all of my heart! I have been attending camp since 3rd grade,
and from then on I have never missed a summer. The camping community is
a place of support, growth and acceptance of all who attempt the experience.
In 2010, I began working at my home camp on Program Staff at West River for
five years. I graduated York College of Pennsylvania with a degree in Psychology
with focuses in Youth Development and Recreation. I ventured to Texas at Camp
All Saints where I taught outdoor eduation and adventure skills for JOLT.
Working at Camp Todd in 2016 was an amazing experience. I am excited for future campers to come to Todd
and be immersed in our community, gain confidence and grow into the best versions of themselves. I can’t
wait to see you in summer 2017!

Our Camps
Located in Hockessin, DE, Country Center is home to
the Lynn W. Williams Science & Technology Lodge. It is
the state’s first LEED-Platinum Certified facility. It is also
home to our state of the art Digital Media Center.
Camp Todd is located on Lake Williston, just 5 miles
south of Denton, MD. Its 64 acres of woods consists
of picturesque hiking trails amongst our wonderful
facilities.
Camp Grove Point is located on 244 scenic acres in
Earleville, MD. Ecologically diverse, Camp Grove Point
has beautiful meadows, woods, wetlands and a large
beach along the Sassafras River.
Camp Sandy Pines is a 48-acre camp, located just
outside of Salisbury, MD. Its central location to sites and
entertainment makes it the perfect spot to explore the
surrounding area. Sandy Pines is our only camp that
has cabins and tree houses!!

Year Round Outdoor Programs
Club Katniss • Camp Country Center
Grades 4-8
Cost: $70 per person
Wednesdays, September 7 - October 12, 2016, 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Meet other girls that get excited about hitting the bull’s eye! At
Club Katniss, you’ll learn safety and technique at the range, make
archery themed crafts, and explore archery games. You’ll gain
archery skills that allow you to compete in archery competitions,
if you choose. This program runs every Wednesday from
September 7 - October 12.
I Rock a Pocket Knife • Camp Country Center
Grades 4-8
Cost: $15 per person
October 1, 2016; 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. for Juniors
1 p.m. - 4 p.m. for Cadettes
Join your sister Girl Scouts in getting back to the basics as you
learn proper handling of a pocket knife and complete your first
whittling project. Girls who successfully complete the program
will earn the right to carry a pocket knife at Girl Scout functions.
Women’s Wellness Weekend • Camp Todd
Girls 16+ and Adults Cost: $75 per person
October 7-9, 2016
Come to Camp Todd to get away from the hustle and bustle
of daily life and experience a weekend the consists solely of
adventure, fun, and some much needed un-plugging and recharging. Learn a new skill and challenge yourself on our low
and high element courses, take a hike on our fitness trail, or
spark your creativity and paint in the woods. Yoga, ZUMBATM, and
Pilates will all be part of the offering for the weekend entirely
focused on mental, emotional, and physical health!
Fall Festival and Punkin Fling • Camp Grove Point
Grades 1-12 and Families
Cost: $15 per person
October 29, 2016, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Celebrate the leaves changing at Camp Grove Point! The annual
Fall Festival will capture all the magic YOUR camp has to offer.
Families will enjoy archery, hay rides, a hay maze, tinker with
trucks, make a fall-themed craft, and much more! Lunch is
included. Participation in the Punkin Fling is an additional
$10 per machine. Only one person per troop needs to
register for the Fling. Registration is online at camp.gscb.

Fall Festival Overnight • Camp Grove Point
Grades 1-12 and Families
Cost: $15 per person
October 29-30, 2016, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. (evening program)
Spend the night at Camp Grove Point after the Fall Festival and
Punkin Fling to keep the magic moving! Visit Casper’s Friendly
Forest or take on the Haunted Cabin, roast a marshmallow at the
beach, and play the odds at the carnival. A continental breakfast
is included on Sunday morning.
Year Round Outdoor Programs
Winter Wonderland • Camp Todd
Grades K-12 Cost: $15 per person
January 28, 2017, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Brrr! It’s cold outside, but we still love outdoor adventures!
Come to the Winter Wonderland and make crafts, construct your
mini-igloo out of marshmallows, go for a winter hike, and much
more frozen fun! Bring your coat, hat, and gloves!
Galentine’s Day Bash • Camp Sandy Pines
Grades 1-5
Cost: $15 per person
February 11, 2017, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Before Valentine’s Day, come and celebrate your love for your
sisters in Scouting at the Sandy Pines Galentine’s Day Bash! We
will make crafts, play games, sing karaoke, have a crazy costume
contest, and enjoy a fabulous tea party!
Mom & Me Pinterest Party • Camp Grove Point
Grades 2-5
Cost: $43 per person
March 24-25, 2017, 6:30 p.m. Friday - 2 p.m. Saturday
Come to camp with Mom or your troop leader for rest,
relaxation, and to get crafty! Friday night we will enjoy healthy
snacks, face masks, and pedicures! On Saturday, enjoy a lazy
breakfast before a busy day of conquering Pinterest’s favorite
projects!
Day’s Out Day Camp • Camp Country Center
Grades K-6
Cost: $45 per person, per day
April 17-21, 2017, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Why spend your spring break sitting at home? Join us for day
camp at Camp Country Center! You’ll make every minute count
with wonder-filled theme days. You can sign up for one day or do

Spring Fling • Camp Todd

Celebrate Earth Day a little early at Camp Todd! This special
spring festival is designed for fun for the WHOLE FAMILY in the
natural environment. Make nature crafts, learn how to compost,
try geocaching, aim for a bull’s eye at archery, and go zip-lining!
The whole family is welcome, children under 3 attend free.
Some activities have age restrictions. Lunch is provided.

Come get creative with your archery at Camp Todd! Not only
will you get to work on improving your archery skills and
markmanship, but you’ll also create amazing works of art while

Learn about the ecology and science of the Delaware Bay and
its surrounding watershed! You’ll get to study marine biology
during this week of day camp that also includes an overnight on
Thursday, plus a trip to Cape Henlopen State Park to learn even
more about plankton, nekton, and benthos! Lunch is provided.

Do you YouTube? Experience the fun of summer camp while
also filming your adventures for your very own series just like
your favorite YouTube stars! Then you’ll learn how to edit your

Bring your favorite American Girl or other doll to enjoy this week
of day camp at Country Center with you! You and your doll will
make crafts, learn about American history, and celebrate what

It is time to get your DIY on at this fantastic, creative, hands-on
camp! Each day girls will complete a different DIY project and

When I Grow Up

If you love kids and want to learn child care basics, sign up
for this fun week of camp where you will also get to help lead
activities for younger campers and complete your American Red
Cross Baby-Sitting Basics Course. You’ll learn the knowledge
and skills necessary to responsibly care for children and infants
in and outside of the home. This includes training in leadership,
child behavior and discipline, professionalism, safety, basic
childcare (bottle feeding, holding, etc.) Lunch is provided.

this week of camp, you’ll get to hang out with a police officer,
banker, lawyer, small business owner and the CEO of Girl Scouts

Journey to the most magical lands during this weekend of day
camp specially designed for Cadettes. Each day you will travel
to a different fantasy world--Narnia, Middle Earth, Hogwarts,

make crafts!

It’s time to survive your first zombie invasion! Learn how to
properly use a hatchet to fuel your fire, tie the proper knots to
set a zombie trap, and identify (and eat) wild edible plants!

science and art of sailing. You will put your new skills to the

Adventure awaits the Trek n Travel campers! You’ll spend most
of this session venturing out of camp! On Monday, head to the
Poconos to get settled into your camp-away-from-camp. You’ll
spend the week hiking the mountains, climbing in tree tops, and
zipping a 1,000 ft zip line!

session, you will learn acting techniques, improvisation skills,

Bring you and your friends to sleepaway camp for grown-ups!
Come together to spend two blissful nights at camp. Fill your
own schedule with land and water sports, epic theme night
events, archery and crafts. This weekend…camp is for the
grown-ups!
Counselor in Training Programs
Program Aide
Grades 7-8
Cost: $400 per person
July 9-21
This program will help you develop skills in several areas.
Learn about developmental ages and stages, behavior and
risk management, activity facilitation, outdoor skills and group
leadership. Upon successful completion of this program, you
will earn the Program Aide pin. This is a terrific first step for
any girl interested in becoming a counselor or working with
youth! (PAs will stay at camp the weekend between sessions).
CIT I
Grade 9
Cost: $400 per person
July 9-21
In the first phase of our Counselor in Training (CIT) program,
you will earn your CPR/First Aid certification and be trained in
child development, leadership, team-building initiatives, group
dynamics, and conflict resolution. During the second week of
your session, you will be immersed in the counselor experience
by spending the week assigned to a unit and helping the
counselors care for younger campers. (CITs will stay at camp
the weekend between sessions).
CIT II
Grade 10
Cost: $400 per person
July 9-21
In the final phase of our Counselor in Training program, the
CIT II’s will learn how to lead specific camp activities. After
choosing from archery, swimming, boating, or crafts, the CIT II
will then help in leading these activities. You will learn about
developing lesson plans, and leave with a better understanding
of what is means to be a counselor with a specific skill-set to
lead these activities. Lifeguard certification will be available for
any CIT II’s interested in obtaining this certification. (CITs will
stay at camp the weekend between sessions).

This program will help girls develop leadership skills, learn
about youth development and assist counselors with providing
activities for younger girls. This is a terrific step for any girl
interested in becoming a counselor in the future or working with
children!
Camp Sampler

This session gives campers the opportunity to experience
everything Camp Todd has to offer! Campers will learn how to
live in community, problem solve, and engage with peers while
participating in traditional camp activities like hiking, swimming,
kayaking, canoeing, making s’mores, and trying archery!
Color Wars
Grades 1-12
Cost: $385
June 25-30
Are you ready for the ultimate Color Wars battle? Enjoy
traditional camp fun while competing for the title of Camp
Todd Color Wars Champ! Campers will be split into teams and
participate in colorful, crazy, and even messy challenges! Find
the hidden idol around Camp Todd and enter ROYGBIV’s tribal
council to vote for sportsmanship awards. Game on!

Join us for Family Camp where the whole family is invited
to Camp Todd for 3 days and 2 nights of FUN! Parents will
experience the power of play as their children lead the way
through a camp adventure though water, land, and air! This
session is open to all family members. Children under 3
attend free.
Adventure Out
Grades 4-8
Cost: $385 per person
July 9-14
Spend a week at camp learning outdoor skills like fire-building,
leave no trace, working as a team on the challenge course, and
practice canoeing in preparation for an all day canoe trip. We’ll
also have time for archery, zip-lining, and making s’mores!
Wilderness Explorers

Come and get adventurous at Camp Todd! Join us for this
exploration themed session where you’ll learn about identifying
plants, animal tracks and orienteering!

Ready, set, explore! Come to this fun travel session where you
will start off at Sandy Pines before spending your week camping
throughout the Delmarva Peninsula!
Volunteer Day Camp

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is camp so expensive?
GSCB camp fees are well below the national average for similar programs. Even with the camp fees paid by the
families, a significant portion of the cost to operate camp is underwritten by Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay
through grants, fund-raising, and product program sales. The actual cost to GSCB for a girl to attend a one week
resident camp is approximately $700.
Are there any discounts available?
Yes! Anyone who registers for camp before January 1, 2017 qualifies for an Early Bird Discount of $25. If you pay
all of your camp fees in full at the time of registration, a Full Pay discount of $15 will be applied. That’s a total of $40
in discounts if you pay in full before January 1!
Is transportation available?
Currently, only transportation to Grove Point Day Camp is available. Pick up locations are in Wilmington at the
Brandywine Library, Newark at the Newark Resource Center, Middletown in the Walmart parking lot, and Dover in
front of Dick’s Sporting Goods. The cost for transportation is $85.00 per week.
Is before and after care available?
Before and after care is available for Camp Country Center programs only. The cost is an additional $100 per
week. Before care begins at 7:30 and ends at 5:30.
Should I register by daughter for the grade level she has just completed or the grade she is entering?
Register for the grade she is entering in Fall 2017.
Is a deposit required for camp?
Yes, GSCB requires a $35 deposit for each session the girl is registering for. This amount is applied to the total cost
of the camp session. “Cookie Bucks” (earned by a troop through the Girl Scout Cookie Program) cannot be used
for the deposit. If you are requesting a campership to help cover the cost and are unable to pay the $35 deposit,
please provide a written explanation. For camps less than $35, please see the online registration forms for deposit
amounts. Deposits are refundable for cancellations prior to March 15, 2017. After that date, GSCB will retain the $35
deposit in the event of cancellation for any reason.
Can camp accommodate my daughter’s dietary needs?
If your girl has special dietary needs, contact the appropriate Camp Director at least two weeks prior to her arrival
at camp. You can discuss the nature of your camper’s needs and gather additional information to determine if the
camp can provide the appropriate support and accommodation for your camper.
Can my daughter attend camp if she has a chronic medical condition?
We handle each situation on a case-by-case basis. If a camper has a special medical condition, it is the policy of
GSCB to work with the parent to help us determine what the appropriate accommodations might be, keeping the
girl’s health and safety as the priority.

How will my daughter receive her medication at camp?
Medications need to be in original containers, prescribed specifically for the camper and not be expired (or
expire) while at camp. The camp will assist campers who need regular medication on a set schedule. Campers
that occassionally need over-the-counter medication for headaches, allergies or lactose intolerance must be able
to communicate to staff that they need this medication, or it will not be given to them. The camp carries select
over-the-counter medication that parents may authorize the camp to administer on the health form. Medications
will not be dispensed in any manner other than what is specified on the label, without written instructions from a
physician, including over-the-counter medications.
What if it is hot outside?
We still have a great time at camp even when it’s hot outside! We encourage the girls to drink plenty of water
and refill their water bottles with cold water, regularly. We have designated locations at each camp with air
conditioning where we can do certain activities in the event of severe or prolonged heat. Although girls may spend
some time in air-conditioning, a majority of their camp time is spent outside.
How do you handle inclement weather?
All GSCB camps have emergency weather procedures in place. We reserve the right to alter scheduled activities
due to weather conditions. Alternative options will be offered to replace an activity cancelled due to weather. No
refunds or adjustments in fees will be made as a result of weather-related changes.
What if my camper is homesick? Can she come home?
Please include your girl in the decision-making process so she is aware of the length of stay. Do not promise her
she can come home early if she does not like camp in the first couple of days. Experiencing some feelings of
homesickness is totally normal; in fact, research shows that 96% of kids experience some degree of homesickness
at some point during their time at camp. Less than 10% of campers, however, experience homesickness that is so
severe where an early return home becomes necessary. You can help set your girl up for success by explaining
to her that she might feel homesick at camp and discuss some coping strategies like journaling, talking to a
friend or counselor or keeping busy with games and crafts. We will work with your camper to help her adjust. If
homesickness persists, the Camp Director will call to inform you of the situation and work to develop a plan of
action.
Does my camper require a physical?
GSCB no longer requires a physical for a girl to attend camp. All girls must have Health History forms and
immunization records completed on Ultra Camp by June 1, 2017.
What electronic devices are permitted at camp?
No electronic devices are permitted at camp. Electronic devices can be easily lost or damaged in the camp
environment. Cell phones, computers, iPods, screens, tablets, e-readers, etc. are not permitted at camp for any
reason. If an electronic or technology device is brought to camp, it will be immediately taken by staff and returned
the day the camper departs camp. Digital cameras are not prohibited, but not recommended. The camp, staff
members and Girl Scouts are not liable for the loss, theft or damage to any electronic device brought to camp in
noncompliance with camp policy, including digital cameras.
How do you handle behavioral problems at camp?
All girls are expected to live by the Girl Scout Promise and Law while at camp. The Camp Director and staff will do
everything possible to help girls adjust to camp life. However, GSCB reserves the right to send home from camp
any girl who consistently exhibits unsuitable behavior or endangers the camp community, or whose actions
towards others are unacceptable. This includes, but is not limited to: physical violence, excessive profanity,
disrespectful behavior or bullying. In this case, the girl’s parents/guardians are responsible for picking her up. In
the event that a girl is sent home for behavioral problems, there will be no refund for camp fees or travel costs.
Can I visit my daughter at camp?
No visitors are permitted at camp. Unless a session is specifically advertised as a family session or prior approval
has been given from GSCB for volunteer hours, parents should not expect to be able to remain with children or
visit at any time during the session. This policy is designed with the best interest of the campers in mind, as
having parents around can serve as a distraction and prohibit your girl and her peers from fully engaging in their
experience, developing independence or exacerbating homesickness.

Registration & Payment
Online registration makes life easy! GSCB now uses online registration through Ultra Camp for all outdoor
program camps and events.
How do you do it? Simply go to www.camp.gscb.org and you will be prompted to create an account. It’s
as simple as any online shopping experience! Ultra Camp will walk you step by step through creating your
profile, registration, camp paperwork, applicable health forms and payment!
If you registered for camp in 2016, you simply need to log back into your account and update any changes to
the forms from last year.
Financial Assistance
Financial assistance is available for qualifying families. Simply fill in the financial assistance form when
registering for camp. Decisions about financial assistance packages will be made on April 1 and families will
be notified via email at that time. You are required to put down the $35 deposit unless you are applying for
a full campership. If you are applying for a full campership, contact the Camp Registrar at 302-456-7150. Be
prepared to submit a narrative of need and copy of your tax return.
Open House Dates
Parents, campers, and their families are invited to our Open House! This is a great opportunity to view the
camp facilities (including living accommodations) and tour the camp. The cost is free!

Camp Care Packages
Camp Care Packages are now available to order online at the time of your registration. Choose your package,
and it will be waiting for your camper when she arrives in her unit!
Bronze Care Package: Includes a drawstring bag, water bottle, bandana, friendship bracelet, and a
postcard! The cost is $15.
Silver Care Package: Includes a drawstring bag, water bottle, bandana, friendship bracelet, postcard,
small stuffed animal, and long sleeve camp t-shirt! The cost is $35.
Gold Care Package: Includes a drawstring bag, water bottle, bandana, friendship bracelet, postcard, small
stuffed animal, long-sleeve camp t-shirt, camp hoodie, and a full-sized stuffed animal. The cost is $60.
Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay is looking for
the next amazing Camp Staff member. Is it you?
Positions include unit counselors, waterfront, sailing staff,
and nurses. Salaries include meals and lodging. All positions
require a minimum age of 18 with some specifically requiring a
minimum age of 21.
Junior counselor opportunities are available to girls under the
age of 18 who have completed the CIT program or have other
applicable experience working with children.
