FIELD EXPLORATION 3.1 BORING 1, Field exploration was caried out using multi-speed rotary wash boring,YWE D90R,These borehole wcre clrilled l'l by local trainecl drillers under direct supervision ofour technician according to instruction and specification givcn. i, Casing NW was used to prevent the collapse ofthe boreholes walls.These boreholes were washed by circulirting water and undisturbed samples were colleated for visual exanrination. 3.2 STANDARD PENETRATION TEST Standard Penetration Test (SPT) were carjed out at l.5tn inkryals in both cohesive and non-cohesive soils as instructed by S.O a split spoon sampler of 50rr1m O.D was drived into tha sojls by a 65kg operated autonaticirll),. The weight was dropped ftom a 760mm for a sufficient number of times to secure the desired 450mm sampler penetrution or a maximurr of50 blows.The number ofblows [or the l50rrm were recorded as a sealing vallrc the following 300mm penetration were recorded as tbe N-Value.Each sample obtained from the sanplel ir arcl thc liclrl was examined and classified by our tecbnician Standard Penctration Test results are shown in the boring log. 3.3 Undistubed Soil Sample: Undisturbed soil sample were obtairred from soft to stiffclay.A thjn ivaliecl sampler tubc of 55mm I.D and 6lOmm in Jength was pushed into the clays ry means ofhydraulic pressure derived florn thc drilling rig undisturbed soil sarrples obtained were clearly labelled and sealed at both ends with non slrinkage wax 4.0 GROUND WATER LEVEL MEASUREMENT The water level in each boreholes was taken while driJling was in progress al the following times:- a) Before wc'rks commenced in the moming b) After work fillished in the evening,but before water (ifarry) was added to boreholes to stabilise it.
