to applicants with the best ability to contribute to each child’s
positive camp experience. Staff consists of grown adults, college age and exceptionally skilled high school students.
All staff members attend mandatory staff trainings before the
start of camp in preparation for the summer. Trainings include
how to effectively communicate with campers and parents,
how to facilitate group activities, day to day operations of
camp and how to best keep campers safe, all while providing
a fun and positive experience. Staff participates in a variety of
activities during training to build a strong sense of comradery.
Each staff member has current CPR and Standard First Aid
Certification. In addition, per City requirements, all staff members have been fingerprinted and background checked. If at
any time you have a concern about a leader and/or how camp
is going, please feel free to contact a supervisor.
Camper Conduct
Camp is designed to be an active and creative environment
and is more fun when campers fully participate. If a child
consistently chooses not to participate, staff will discuss
with parents whether future participation at camp is mutually
beneficial.
Camp Ratios
Camps operate on a 10:1 (Camp Sunshine 8:1) camper to
leader ratio. This ratio ensures that activities can be modified
for age-appropriate skill levels as well as enhancing team
building and cooperation skills.
All campers are expected to follow the rules of camp. Camp
staff reviews all rules thoroughly on the first day of camp
each week and reinforces them throughout the week. Campers are encouraged to ask any questions they may have
regarding the rules.

Campers should be dressed to play as all the camps are active and creative. Closed-toe shoes are required (flip flops

What if I am late picking up my child?
The definition of a “late pick-up” is picking your child up any
time after their scheduled time on the camp calendar. If you
are going to be late, please call the camp phone to let staff
know. Continued disregard for published pick-up times may
lead to a late fee charge or your child’s dismissal from camp.
Please be considerate of staff and pick your child up promptly
when camp ends each day.
What forms are required?
An Emergency Medical Information & Permission Form is required for each camp participant (1 per family). Your child

more information).

(8:30am-4:30pm), half day (AM 8:30am-1pm or PM 12pm4:30pm), or extended day (7am-6pm) option available. Camp
Explorers operates 8am-5:30pm. Choose the schedule that
works best for you.
What if I do not want my child to attend a field
trip or swim day?
All campers and staff attend field trips and swim days. Staff
