I am pleased to note that Health Asia exhibition is being organized for the 3rd consecutive
year to highlight the immense investment potential that exists in the Health sector of
Pakistan. The holding of such exhibitions play an important role to attract foreign
investment in the country.
Pakistan is concentrating on making the basic health facilities available to people at grass
roots level and providing clean drinking water to the entire nation by the year 2007.
Provision of best health care is among top priorities of the government; with a special focus
on primary and secondary health rather than tertiary as was misplaced emphasis in the past.
As a result of farsighted reforms during the last seven years, by the Grace of Almighty
Allah, Pakistan has been transformed from a stagnant economy on the verge of default to
the fast-paced emergent economy. Our GDP is growing at the highest rate in the history of
the country, our exports are increasing and our stock exchanges are considered as one of the
best performing in the world. Pakistan is also strengthening economic co-operation with
the nations of the world through strategic forums such as ASEAN, SAARC, OIC, and
Commonwealth for mutually beneficial advantages.
In the end, I would like to compliment the Ministry of Health, Government of Pakistan and
Ecommerce Gateway for organizing Health Asia 2006 Exhibition and wish them success in
their endeavors.

I am delighted to know about yet another successful Health Asia Exhibition and
Conference. Health Asia is no doubt, an amazing display of Healthcare Sector in which
each party uses its strength to bring together magnanimous success for Pakistan that would
otherwise not have been possible. As a result, the world witnesses a show that reflects the
true potential for investment in Pakistan and portrays an image that Pakistan is as good a
place to do business as any other peaceful country.
On this occasion of Health Asia, I would like to draw the attention of the international
business community towards the investment friendly policies of the government and the
steps being taken by the government to facilitate industry and trade. Pakistan is open for
business & welcomes local & foreign in investment in all sectors including the health
sector.
I feel that time is ripe for the international business community specially those participating

International Exhibition & Conference, the biggest Health Care Industry event of Pakistan.
Among many side event of Health Asia, I would specially like to mention introduction of
Pharma Asia, an exclusive event that facilitates interaction of doctors and pharmaceutical
industry for the benefit of the masses, eventually bringing the major players in the Industry
closer. This organization of multi-specialty Medical Congress including a Medical
Symposium; exclusive seminars & workshops on contemporary issues that is on top
priority of the Ministry of Health.
I can confidently state that Health Asia gives an unprecedented opportunity to doctors,
manufacturers of drugs, manufacturers of medical instruments & diagnostic equipment,
pharmacists, consultants, medical educationists, policy makers and decision makers to
gather under one roof and witness state of the art products available in Pakistan. Through
the series of conferences, focusing on topics such as Health Management, Telemedicine,

I am pleased to observe Health Asia 2006 is being organized for the third successive year in
the city of lights, Karachi, which is the regional business and industrial hub. It offers the
right combination of amenities and infrastructure to organize such mega events.
The Government of Sindh is playing its due role in encouraging local and foreign
businessmen to make investments in the province. The province of Sindh offers
innumerable opportunities for investment in all sectors of economy. The first and foremost
priority of the government is to maintain law and order in the province, as a peaceful
environment is must for economical activity. Alhamdolillah, security situation in the
province, including Karachi, has improved considerably as a result of positive measures
taken by the present government; which is evident from the soaring foreign investment.
The government has also initiated a number of reforms in trade, political and social sectors
to gain investor’s confidence. Besides, a number of projects are underway to improve the
infrastructure of the province to facilitate business and trade.
I congratulate the organizers of Health Asia 2006 for putting up this wonderful effort to
showcase the immense potential of the health sector and to enlighten the local and
international stakeholders regarding numerous opportunities.
