BOREDOM BUSTERS spring 2008
Hi guys!
Now that the worst of winter has finally passed, we can
set our sights on another long hot summer season. Pretty
soon we’ll be jumping off jetties, licking double scooped
chocolate dipped ice creams, and smelling that sweet smell
of freshly cut grass. Bring it on!
Win tickets in the
Lighthouse Competition!
Jam packed inside this latest edition of Boredom Busters is
a whole heap of cool activities and competitions to get the
creative juices flowing from the comfort of your own home.
If you are into a little adventure
why not check out some of
the great activities that
have been planned just
for you by the various
holiday programmes
around the region.
There’s something for
everyone.
How arty are you? We’ve got tickets for two fantastic Arts
Festival shows to give away to two keen and clever artists. You
could win a double pass to The Funky Monkeys on Saturday 25
October, at 11am, or to In The Deep End on Sunday 19 October
at 2pm. Both shows are at Founders Park, Nelson
All you have to do is get arty – send us a painting, drawing or
collage of Nelson’s own famous lighthouse – and we’ll choose
the best two. You’ll also get to see your work in Boredom
Busters.
Send your entry to arrive by 3 October 2008 to:

BOREDOM BUSTERS spring 2008
what a drama at the
A revised format saw the Winter 08 Big Day Out split
between two venues, with the Motueka Recreation Centre
and Motueka Memorial hall co-hosting the event.
A variety of interactive sports, music, and drama ensured
those participating were keep busy and warm in the Motueka
Recreation Centre. Lee Corlett ran a challenging obstacle course
while Matt and the team from Sport Tasman introduced a fast
and furious battleships game to the mix. Classic classroom
sing-a-longs were bellowed out upstairs with Kath Bee, and
Cindus Colonna effectively captured the imaginations of those
participating in her drama workshops. Complementing the line
up was a DHB supported healthy eating workshop where kids
were taught how to prepare tasty fruit kebabs and vege wraps
after being educated on sugar content in common foods and
drinks.
Meanwhile, across town at the Motueka Memorial Hall, the
other half of the programme was being treated to a pantomine
screening of Cinderella as performed by Kidztheatre Production
Crew from Golden Bay. Colourful costumes, music and audience
participation were all part of this rollicking slapstick comedy and
the show was enjoyed by all.
The Tasman District and Nelson City Councils and the OSCAR
Foundation would like to thank all workshop facilitators for
providing fun and enjoyable activities, and to those holiday
programmes present for providing their kids with the
opportunity to participate and continue on in the legacy of the
Big Day Out.
Healthly snacks all
round.
Sing-a-longs with
Kath Bee.
All ready to go.
