Guest Policy Guests are welcome to attend monthly meetings, and by special arrangement, to participate in some activities and excursions. A guest fee applies. Reservations prior to the monthly meetings should be sent to the secretary, [email protected]. Twice a year members can introduce a prospective new member at the monthly meetings without payment of the guest fee; these guests must fulfill the criteria for joining the club. Some meetings are reserved for members only. 4 President’s Letter June 2016 Dear Ladies, The new Club Year will start in September with all kind of activities. In the last couple of years the Annual General Assembly (AGA), has been held at the September Monthly Meeting followed up by the Open Club Day. In reviewing the constitution Art. 9.3 states: “The Annual General Assembly will be held between four and eight weeks after the beginning of the new club year” (1 September) therefore the Board decided the AGA will be held at the October Monthly Meeting. But first to the month of June. The theme of the Monthly Meeting is an Ode to Dutch Fashions presented by the curator of the fashion and costume department of the Gemeente Museum, Mrs Madelief Hohé. We look forward to a fascinating lecture about Dutch fashion through the ages. Lu See Lee and Hetty Diederiks have organized an excursion to the Hofwijck Museum combined with a tour through old Voorburg on Wednesday, 15 June. This special tour will be guided by art historian Jane Choy who actually lives in Voorburg. All newcomers are invited to this activity. Thanks to the initiative of our Honorary President, Henriette van Aartsen an excursion is planned to Midden Delfland, a beautiful rural area close to The Hague which is participating in the International project Cittaslow (see page 7). We have also received a wonderful invitation for IWC members to visit the Embassy of Georgia on Thursday, 15 September, so put it in your diary already. Many thanks to Marlena Reibaldi and Anna Nicolaides for their hard work on creating the IWC's new website which will go live in June. I would like to wish all our IWC members a very good summer holiday and look forward seeing you all back in good health in September.
