S500 : The First Honda Car
As the first car to debut
in 1963, the two-seater
open-top sports car
signalled a new era of
automotive technologies
for Honda with its many
famous firsts.
When the idea came to make the first car,
Honda introduced two sports cars in 1963, built
at Soichiro Honda’s request. The S360 and S500
were dynamic two-seater sports car with an open
top. However, only the S500 was selected for mass
production and made history as Honda’s first car.
The two-seater sports car with an open top is
equipped with Japan’s first DOHC (dual overhead
camshafts) automobile engine, the S500 was dubbed
an innovative car of its time.

Honda’s dedicated research into a coating/painting
technology meant for automobiles led to the industry’s
first anionic electrodeposition undercoating material,
a water-based material charged with negative electric
current, as used in the S500.
The S500 made its debut in white but Soichiro Honda
was already embarking on a campaign to lift Japan’s
ban on red vehicles, a colour reserved for fire engines.
As a result, Honda successfully launched the S600,
successor to S500, in Honda’s legendary red a year
later - the first red car in Japan.

To sustain lifelong satisfaction among Honda owners, Honda Malaysia has been
carrying out various initiatives to improve its sales and services facilities while
ensuring guidelines and frameworks are in place to deliver valuable experience to
customers. As the first and primary customer touch point, Honda dealers are strictly
monitored for overall compliance and quality.
The Dealer Development Division was set up by Honda Malaysia in November 2011
to drive comprehensive improvements in dealers’ presence and standards in the
country. With the aim to achieve 100 dealers by 2016 and earn the No. 1 rank in
customer satisfaction, the division is tasked to accelerate the dealer initiatives and
trainings and ensure that the rapid Dealer Network expansion goes hand-in-hand
with improved efficiency in services.

to Maintaining Your Car Leather Seats
To prevent your leather seats from looking dull or cracking, spend
a little time once a month to clean and condition them with a
good quality leather cleaning kit.

Having leather seats in our
warm climate means preventive
care needs to be done more
regularly to maintain its shine.
Neglected leather will age
quickly, causing the surface
to lose its moisture and crack.
The good news is, taking care
of your leather seats is fairly
low maintenance and easy!

Next, apply the conditioner - ensure
that it is petroleum and silicone-free
with minimum mink oil to avoid a greasy
finish. Do not apply the conditioner before
cleaning as a build-up of dirt that will
damage the leather’s texture.

MONTH
Schedule a time to clean your seats once
a month using a leather cleaning kit that
provides a simple 2-step solution - a
cleaner to remove dirt and a conditioner to
enhance its suppleness.

Using a sponge or microfibre cloth, apply
the conditioner liberally by rubbing it into
the leather seats and ensure no residue
is left on the surface. Just like applying
a sunscreen, the conditioner works to
protect and moisturise the leather, keeping
it flexible and soft.
Read the instructions carefully and apply
the cleaning solution first, covering the
areas one section at a time till it forms
a nice lather and wipe it clean with
a damp towel.

Finally, to protect your newly shined leather
seats, it is best to avoid exposing the car in
the sun for a while. For better maintenance,
keep your car parked under a shade as
much as you can.

record-breaking gathering
of Honda makes in Sepang.
The largest Honda Car club gathering broke the
Malaysian Book of Records recently.
The crowd was in for a carnival spirit with the
exciting line-up of games, shows and car boot
sales.
More
than 4,000 Honda cars
gathered at the Sepang International
Circuit in celebration of Honda Day 2014,
setting a new record in the Malaysia Book
of Records for the ‘Largest Car Gathering
of a Specific Make’ on 27 September
2014. The show-stopping ceremony was
witnessed by a 10,000-strong cheering
crowd.
The circuit’s venue turned into a playland
for Honda fans as Honda models from
vintage to new paraded to form the
largest Honda car gathering to break
Malaysia’s records before a drag battle
kicked into high gear under the fiery
afternoon sun all the way till the break of
dawn the next day. The atmosphere was
filled with exciting auto and audio shows,
Honda Malaysia displayed the winning Jazz built by
the Honda Malaysia Racing Team for the S1K race
in 2013.
Owners of Honda models from every generation
came from all around the country to be part of the
historic event.
