Date: Wednesdays, Week 4 to Week 8 Time: 7.20pm to 8.30pm Location: Green Precinct Football Field Page 7 Up to date AFL – by Monish Dayal We had an excellent turnout for Aussie Rules Football on Saturday 21 July 2012. A full bus rocked up for the event and for many of the residents it was their first time to a footy game! The competition was fierce between the Melbourne Demons and the Port Adelaide Power, there was definitely electricity in the air and everyone could feel the excitement as we watched from the sidelines at centre field. Everyone was explained the rules to this traditional game and many even had “GOAL” signs that they waved around with pride as they supported the teams. Many people tried some traditional footy food like meat pies and sausage rolls that were available for sale and completed the footy experience. The score ruled in the Power’s favour but that didn’t stop the Demons from putting up a fight. There was even a disgruntled Melbourne Demons fan who was very insistent on the number 15 player known as Ricky. This provided much enjoyment to all those attending and especially our IHD crew. Everyone had a great time and hope to see more of you at the upcoming events! Territory Wildlife Park – by Metui Tongatua On Sunday 22 July a group of newbies to IHD accompanied with a few veterans headed out to the Territory Wildlife Park. It was certainly a great day had by all. A few of the highlights were the Olloo sandbar where a few residents (including myself) got to hand feed some whip rays which was genuinely amazing. of the raptors (birds) are capable of... just WOW! A few of us also got to hold a bird as well! Thanks to IHD for giving us such an amazing experience. We all appreciate it. Whilst there we also got to see some barramundi being fed, needless to say, all the fisherman present were licking their lips at the sight of the Barra. We also were treated to an excellent birds of prey show. We got glimpses of what some Page 8 Housekeeping Construction IHD would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by power and water shut downs. These shutdowns are imperative for the future growth of the university and IHD. IHD is working with the University to investigate some alternative arrangements for any future outages to ensure the impact to residents is minimal. Water Shutdown The water will be shut down to all buildings at the Casuarina Campus on Saturday 11 August 2012 from 9am to 12pm. The shutdown is necessary for Power and Water to fix a faulty meter at the campus. Doors to these areas automatically lock when the door is closed; therefore you must take your key with you at all times. Doors must not be intentionally jarred open. It is your responsibility as a resident to keep all common area doors closed when you enter and exit the room. Doors have been intentionally designed to lock once closed for your safety.
