Published by DVCA Board of Directors, 2009 Deerlake Governance As a new resident it is important that you understand and participate in the governance of your chosen community. Deerlake Village is a self-managed community governed by a Declaration of Covenants and Bylaws adopted in 2006. These documents along with the Rules and Regulations, Committee Charters, and a variety of other information are available on our website at www.deerlakevillage.org. As these documents provide the structure for our community life, we urge you to become familiar with them as soon as possible. An elected seven-member Board of Directors, assisted by eighteen standing committees, manages the Deerlake Village Community Association. Board members may be contacted via email directly from the website page “Contact Info”. Association meetings are held quarterly and residents are urged to attend. Many active volunteers complete most of our maintenance work, manage our clubhouse, pool, and other amenities, and oversee our landscaping, new construction and remodeling. This active local management and volunteerism keep our annual assessment one of the lowest in the area. In addition to the website, The Deerlake Diary, published monthly, provides a wealth of information. The Diary provides community news as well as contact information for the Board and Committee Chairs, an update on any Board activity, information about new residents, and a calendar of events. A Membership Directory and Phone List are published twice each year. Welcome to Deerlake Village Deerlake Village is a planned community nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Like country living a few minutes from downtown, the Deerlake community has several residential sections. The Meadows is located in the valley and consists of one-story, easily accessible homes. Streets are flat and easy to navigate. Condominiums comprise six buildings nested on the lap of the foothills where The Cottages, multi-level houses, are located. Mountain Homes are multi-level homes on larger lots winding up Pine Mountain. In addition there are several Lakeside and Creekside homes in Deerlake Village. Property owners and/or contractors (builders) are expected to meet with the Architectural Review Committee prior to making building plans to better understand their responsibilities for new construction. Please use our website for complete Procedures for New Construction, applications, and to contact the ARC chair. Check out our website!
