Lakan Guro Manny Dacanay of Lapunti, Arnis de Abanico Lakan Guro Manny Dacanay is the Rizal Chapter Founder a representative and instructor of Lapunti, Arnis de Abanico, which he learned the Lapunti Arnis de Abanico style, dagger and stick fight, empty hand technique from Grandmaster Ondo Cabornay from Labangon, Cebu who is the Founder of Arnis de Abanico, and was originally with Doce Pares. Lapanti, Arnis de Abanico is mostly a fan style art, primarily Espada y Daga. With whirling motions, cross legged, side stepping combinations. There are (4) four levels involved and a student must complete a level before proceeding to the next level. The four levels are: 1. Likas - Spring 2. Luntian - Grow 3. Lilcha - Nature 4. Lalcan - Maturity Also to be noted is that Punong Guro Mike Alcaraz taught Lakan Guro Dacanay street fighting skills, street knife fight, close quarter self defense technique. Maestro Fernando “Bong” Abenir III of Abenir Kali Knife technique, grab and lock with strike. Demonstrated by Guro Willie Samson and Lakan Raffy Songayan Maestro Fernando “Bong” Abenir III started training in the martial arts at the age of 9 through his father in the art of Kuntao and learned the art of knife fighting by a man called Mang Inyong from Masbate. This started his in-depth study in the field of martial arts through different Masters and Instructors. He studied Yaw-Yan under Orlando Lapuz and became an instructor. Iinformally he trained 1994 to 1997 under Grand Maestro Antonio Ilustrisimo (of Kalis Ilustrisimo, one of the famous Filipino martial arts system) but it was short-lived due to tatang’s unexpected death during that year. He continued training under Pedro Reyes and Tony Diego. He was also trained and was certified to teach Pencak Silat by Pendekar Mohamad Hadilmulyo and from O’ong Maryono, a three time world Pencak Silat champion. He trained Judo and grappling from former Philippine Team member Francis Pisa. He is also a certified Kru under the Muay Association of the Philippines. Abenir Kali system is a Filipino martial art which is a fusion of different arts such as Kalis Ilustrisimo, Silat and other fighting systems in the Philippines. The Abnenir Kali system in combining Kali Ilustrisimo and Silat has found they are very close to being identical, both are free flowing, with the exception that Silat is a bit more flowery in its movements and some of the stances, however when it comes to the hands movements they are almost identical. With the Silat side for kicking the kicks are executed mid-level to low level, with stomps and sweeps. Abenir Kali System is primarily a blade based martial art which derives its bulk of techniques and fighting principles in the arts of Kalis Ilustrisimo, YawYan, other Filipino martial arts styles and Pencak Silat. A blade and street oriented art. The Founder Master Bong Abenir had fused these systems in order to come up with his own training system and also added techniques and strategies discovered effective during live sparring. Most of the techniques that were effective during a full sparring session without protective gear were thoroughly observed and its efficiency were replicated many times and eventually included as part of its repertoire of techniques and skills to be practiced and developed over and over until it becomes an automatic response. The Founder believes that during a fight wherein everything is sudden and happening so fast that you may not have time to think but instead rely on your quick reaction to any attack or situation you are in. There are no basic and advance techniques actually, just chronologically arranged, no technique is more important than another. One of the main philosophies of Abenir Kali is “ Our Kali is practical. Just plain common sense” a quote carried on from Tatang Ilustrisimo. Guro Christopher Lawrence Dalida of Abnenir Kali and Biagtan Cinco Teros Guro Dalida is both a Filipino martial arts instructor of Abenir Kalis and Biagtan Cinco Teros and a certified Malayang Anyo Bodyweight Calisthenics instructor. He studied mixed martial arts in Don Bosco Mandaluyong under Maestro Bong Abenir. When he moved to Cavite as a resident of Imus he trained with Master Rey Biagtan in the art of Pangasinan Cinco Teros while participating as a sparring partner for competing Biagtan MMA fighters and instructors. The art of Pangasinan Cin- co Teros has (5) five basic strikes, simple slashes from upward to downward then downward to upward or vice versa from one side, repeated on the other side making the (4) four strikes to finish up with a thrust. Like a crisscross action followed by the thrust. And is basically a blade art. He eventually re-trained with Maestro Bong in the Abenir Kali system and went thru competition and constant drills and sparring and was later certified as one of the first bladed instructor of the new Abenir Kalis system. Under Maestro Abenir Guro Dalida learned that there is no pattern when attacked, but using instincts based on personal body type and knowledge and using what is necessary is the principle to resolve the situation at hand. He is a certified Malayang Anyo Bodyweight Calisthenics under Guro Perry Gil Mallari. Bodyweight calisthenics are exercises that use the practitioner’s own bodyweight as resistance whose chief aim is simply to build maximum raw power and muscles as well as promote joint mobility. Commenceing with a low cruzada sliding parry technique, then followed up by a an aldavez or combination of upward strike. - Demonstrated by Maestro Abenir and Guro Dalida Estrella parry technique - Demonstrated by Maestro Abenir and Guro Dalida To Contact: Maestro Bong Abenir 63 (0927) 278-7260 Email: [email protected] To Contact: Guro Chris Dalida (0917) 419-3458 Email: [email protected] School Submission The schools listed teach Filipino martial arts, either as the main curriculum or an added curriculum.
