February 3 Superbowl Sweeps 10 Sunday Brunch Another GREAT Party! Going Out on a Limb! from Jerry Briele Happy New Year! What a FANTASTIC Christmas Season! As we begin the new year we have begun a tree removal program in anticipation of changing out our greens to “Champion” Bermuda. Universal Landscapes has extended an opportunity to property owners to have trees removed on their property at a very reasonable cost. Property owners wishing to take advantage of this opportunity should contact Skip Bulkley of the GPOA to identify and arrange tree removal. Access to homeowner property from the golf course will be limited to the areas where tree work is being done on the golf course and will be done while the contractor is working in that area. We anticipate that the tree removal process will take at least 6months. The tentative schedule for con version of the greens is to close the golf course after July 4th weekend and reopen Labor Day weekend. More details about the conversion schedule and membership availability for golf will follow in the upcoming months. We look forward to the upcoming 2013 season and anticipate that the work currently ongoing will be a tremendous positive effect on the golf course. Have a great 2013!! Hole #14 Page 2 Caddyshack Mens Golf Association by John Cole Patrick Feury President MGA “The most important shot The Emerald Men’s Golf Association (EMGA) held its season ending Christmas party December 3, 2012. This was a joyous occasion celebrating the end of another successful season of golf and camaraderie. Everyone enjoyed re-telling their stories about missed putts, slices and hooks and the trees that got in the way. The celebration was somewhat diminished when Ken Houser, George Murray, and Bob Ware stepped aside after long terms as EMGA President, Vice-President, and Treasurer. All members are thankful for their contributions of time and effort. The evening will be remembered for many highlights starting with the tasty meal (featuring ham and turkey), gifts for each attendee, awards for golfers who enjoyed remarkable success in EMGA tournaments; one of which was Bill Kravec receiving “The Sandbagger Award” for collecting the most cash during these tournaments. Many members also won some wonderful “raffle” gifts (including a fabulous new driver). The new board has big shoes to fill, but will keep the MGA moving forward with a challenging variety of tournament formats (including some of the old favorites). The board will also make an effort to be responsive to member concerns. The EMGA is open for all male golfers that are members of the Emerald Golf Club, application forms are available in the Pro-Shop. in golf is the next one.” ~Ben Hogan The 2013 EMGA Board President Patrick Feury Vice President John Brigham Treasurer John Gibbons Secretary John Cole Looking forward to 2013!
