Accounting Occupations provides students with a basic
knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and
applications. Textbooks, workbooks, personal computers, and
software equivalent to those commonly found in today’s office
will be used to teach these skills in the classroom. Students will
also have the opportunity to train at a local business.
This class is designed to provide students with the opportunity in
the health care industry and office environment. To prepare
students for a front office position in the medical field, this
course includes: basic medical terminology, billing and coding,
appointment scheduling, basic computer application training
(Word and Excel), as well as the opportunity to receive hands-on
training (externship) at a local medical practice.
This class is designed for today’s “High Tech” employees and
focuses on the computer technology and office skills
employers are looking for in employees. This course will
provide foundational skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Publisher, Access, and Outlook, as well as training in the use of
a variety of office equipment. Students will also have the
opportunity to train at a local business.

Foundations in Early Education is designed to develop the skills
necessary to work in the early childhood education field. This
field includes working with infants, toddlers, and pre-school age
children as well as working in extended day care facilities and
family childcare centers. Training will include understanding the
developmental stages for child growth and development; child
health and safety care; child nutrition; guidance and discipline
procedures; intellectual and physical activities; how to compile
and use reference materials and how to use audio-visual
materials. Course content is applicable to infant and toddler
programs, preschool programs, kindergartens, and primary
education. This class is taught in a combination of classroom
and community site training.

in the health care industry. Designed to prepare students for
entry-level position in the medical field, this course includes:

facility or office.

The Construction Technology course is designed to provide
students with the opportunity to train in the field of Construction
Trades, and to obtain specific technical skills necessary for both
new construction and remodeling projects. Included in this course
are classroom and work-based learning experiences related to:
safety, construction related mathematics and communication
skills, blueprint reading, construction processes, rough and
finished carpentry standards, building standards and codes,
career opportunities, construction materials, tools, and
equipment.

Students will learn the skills used in the manufacturing industry.
This course includes an introduction to technical skills required
throughout the industry, including: Equipment Safety and Handson Training and Operation of Machinery and Warehousing Tools ,
Electrical Wiring Fundamentals, Preventative Maintenance,
Trouble-Shooting, Electronic Components, Pneumatics and Safety.
Automotive Technology (26 Weeks)

Automotive Technology Program is designed to equip the adult
learner with the technical skills required in automotive services
and repair. Students will receive instruction in the classroom,
shop and practical applications through community classroom
training. The practical application is designed to meet NATEF
Certification Program Standards.

This course will provide participants with knowledge of entrylevel skills and hands-on experience necessary to secure
employment in retail sales and other customer service related
positions. Participants will improve their customer service,
communication and employability skills. They will also increase
their computer literacy knowledge with the focus on Microsoft
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Students will also have the
opportunity to train at a local business.
