Old. Lettering does say Placerville
(well worn but readable) and 1151
is painted in yellow on outside and
inside of box. May or may not be
real. Although we can’t be sure of
the origin of this metal box, it is
old enough to be Wells Fargo or
American Express. Wells Fargo & Co. Express painted in white. Most
probably new. 19 1/2 x 12 x 12”. Original key broken, but in lock. Can

Box Larger than the classic
express box, this must have
been used by some small
company. 24 x 15 x 15”. Green
with black scroll work. Not in
working condition. Lock has
been covered. But the inside
clearly shows this was a lock
box - it is heavy and well made.
Inside has an ugly coat of
orange paint on the bottom and
Scientific American papers on
