WORKFORCE INNOVATION OPPORTUNITY ACT (WIOA)
America’s Job Center of California at 325-4473
Career Resource Department at 322-7492
The following steps need to be completed in order to be considered for enrollment in the WIA training programs listed below.
1.
Attend a Workforce Investment Act orientation at your local America’s Job Center of California. Call 325-4473, 336-6700 or 800-3346670 for more information.
2
Once you attend an orientation, you will be given an appointment with an intake counselor who will assess whether or not you
qualify for free training. They may ask you to provide proof of residence in Kern County, income verification for the last 6
months, Social Security card, picture identification, birth certificate, and any other document they ask you to bring.
3.
A JCE staff member will assess you for suitability to the program you desire to attend. They may also ask you to attend a series
of workshops to ensure that you can be dependable, arrive on time, be dressed appropriately, and be ready to learn and work.
4.
If you are selected for the program, you may be drug tested to ensure that you are drug-free and ready to work.
6.
Finally, you will be given a referral to the Bakersfield Adult School or Career Resource Department and training will begin!
