The Animal Care course is not designed as a veterinary assistant’s course, but rather as a possible
introduction to the field of animal care and hopefully in the future encourage you to consider a career in
syllabus
animal management. Animal care assistants look after the day-to-day care of animals, in a variety of
different settings, under supervision. The animal care assistant may have more direct contact with the
animals than any other person within the organisation. It is therefore a very important role in the welfare of
the animals.
