Friends of the Library book collection
Friends of the Library will collect books for the upcoming
book sale until Friday, Sept. 11, at the Rock County Commu
nity Library. Books and other used materials will be accepted
during normal library hours. Book sale will be Thursday,
Sept. 17, through Saturday, Sept. 19.

Former employees of Kenny Super Value, Luverne, are in
vited to a reunion at noon Sunday, Sept. 13, at Pizza Ranch

The Luverne Area Chamber is sponsoring a Gold’n Bowl
during the Luverne High School football game against the
Redwood Valley Cardinals. Serving begins at 6 p.m. Friday,
Sept. 11, at the football field. Grilled chicken sandwiches and
chips will be $3 each or 2 for $5. “Surprises by LJB” will offer
custom Cardinal football airbrush tattoos. Proceeds support
the Luverne Cardinal Athletic Programs and the Luverne
Area Chamber.
Prepared childbirth class
Sanford Luverne will offer a prepared childbirth class
from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. A baby care class
will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14. Both of these classes
are in the Sanford Luverne Blue Mound Room. Call 2832321

Girl Scouts registration
All Rock County girls, kindergarten and older, and fami
lies are welcome to attend the Girl Scouts kickoff party and
registration. The party is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept.
12, at the Luverne City Park. There will be a lunch, games and

The 7th Annual Remember Rally will be on Saturday,
Sept. 12. Registration begins at 11 a.m. at Howling Dog Saloon,
Luverne, and the motorcycle ride leaves at 12:30 p.m. The
route will go to Pipestone, Slayton, Ruthton, Flandreau and
Garretson before returning to Luverne. Food, drinks and door
prizes will be available at Howling Dog Saloon after the run.

St. John Rally Day
St. John Lutheran Church will sponsor Rally Day Sunday,
Sept. 13, the theme will be “Cross Training — Training for a
Lifetime of Faith”. Services will begin at 9 a.m. and Sunday
School will begin at 10:20 a.m. Following services will be “Games
for the Glory of God” for children and lunch for everyone.
