Roy specializes in creating relevant visual communication
materials that best suits a particular product, service, or event.
Areas of expertise include corporate identity, sales brochures,
catalogs, newsletters, publications, advertising, signage,
tradeshow displays, event promotions, web sites, presentations,
and direct mail.
Roy takes the time to understand a company’s business and
the specific goals of an assignment. His creative solutions
always reinforce the client’s business strategy and target the
goals of the project. His understanding of how strategic design
can influence a company’s success has benefited local, regional
and national clients.
Roy graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design in 1991 from
the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He has
held the position of Design and Production Manager at both an
event promotion company and a publishing company. He was
also a partner and Design Director of a design agency and has
freelanced for various PR firms and marketing departments.

GraphXStaff is a staffing agency for
creative professionals in Sacramento,
California. This ad was created to
run in the printed program for
the 2006 Addys Competition in
Sacramento. The Addy Awards are
the largest and most comprehensive
creative competition in the industry,
honoring creative excellence in nearly
every area of advertising. The ad is
targeted at creative professionals
(agency owners, creative directors,
HR Managers, etc.) who are responsible for hiring creative professionals
(art directors, graphic designers,
production artists, etc.).

REAL CITIES NETWORK
print campaign
Real Cities is a nationwide network
of local and regional newspapers
that provides national media buyers
with a convenient way to purchase
local markets.
This print campaign ran in the
trade publication Editor & Publisher.
It consisted of four small space ads
(top) that ran in succession on four
pages that preceded the half-page
spread (bottom).
The push pins visually communicate
the ability of the Real Cities Network
to precisely target markets from
east to west and points in between.

based organization. This series of black
& white newspaper ads were created
to recruit minorities to their electrician
apprenticeship program.

“A NIGHT UNDER THE BIG TOP”
event invitation
The Safeway Foundation was interested
in creating a sense of anticipation and
mystery with the promotional materials
for this event. The black tie dinner gala,
held in a large outdoor tent, featured
“Cirque du Soleil” entertainment to
the delight of a sold out audience that
raised hundreds of thousands of dollars
for charity.

Although the performances of this East
Bay symphony rival that of a nearby
San Francisco group, season ticket sales
were on a decline. We convinced the
symphony to increase their print
budget to accommodate a four color
brochure. This allowed the brochure to
make a strong visual impact, resulting
in a 300% increase in season ticket sales
over the same period a year earlier.

Real Cities is a nationwide network
of local and regional newspapers that
provides national media buyers with
a convenient way to purchase local
markets.
This direct mail postcard campaign
enticed media buyers to register
online with Real Cities in hopes of
winning a trip for two to any “real
city”. All registrants received a
custom printed disposable camera –
which highlighted the main benefits
of buying media with Real Cities.

These 3 ft. x 8 ft. signs – created for the
Concord and Sacramento parks – feature
illustrations that fit the tropical theme
of the waterpark. The signs were manufactured to accommodate menu changes
each season with minimum expense.

building enhancements
Sutter Medical Center sponsors a building
at Safetyville, USA – a 1/3 scale town
complete with sidewalks, crosswalks,
streetlights, police and fire stations, and
businesses that can be found in any city.
The facility provides life-saving safety
education through its unique guided tours
for pre-K through third grade children.
The goal of this project was to enhance
the bare facade of the Sutter Medical
building. The final result creates a
memorable environment and provides
information on the Children’s Center at
Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento.

The Artmachine web site contains
a lot of content. The pre-existing
design attempted to include a link
to just about every page from the
home page. This redesign reorganizes the location of each link into
compact drop-down menus. The
color palette was also simplified to
coordinate with their printed
literature, creating a cohesive
brand identity. Web site is no
longer online. Artmachine has been
purchased by eMotion.

visual presence for this vintage
wheel manufacturer. Client has since

This relatively small family owned
company needed a visual presence
that would allow them to attract
the attention of the sophisticated
wine market. The resulting design
utilized their existing photography
in a way that transformed their
pre-existing web site from drab to
dynamic. The new design helped
increase sales of new wine barrels
from their cooperage facility.
