(303) 637-1275 a mendoza @uni tedpower.com Ten years ago I had the pleasure to be introduced to this great Chapter, I found something I didn’t even know I was looking for: a place to network with others in my field, expand my professional knowledge, and somewhere I could help people grow and succeed in their careers the way others had helped me. It has been a joy to attend meeting, classes, and events with you all. I truly appreciate all that our Board and Past-Presidents have done to make this a great chapter. I hope I can now do my part as President to grow our chapter, increase member value, and keep this Chapter great! I was truly honored to be able to represent our Chapter at the recent Annual Education Conference in Hartford, CT where our own Lee Hamre was inducted as President of legislative review our Association. My thanks to Bonnie Roerig and the Evan Randall Holland & Hart, LLP others who helped coordinate Lee’s reception. I felt our sponsorship of that party was a (303) 295-6165 [email protected] good investment. I’d also like to thank the Chapter’s strong presence at the conference; it was great having so many good friends there! The conference was very rewarding and professional development provided a great opportunity to learn, network, and have a great time. I hope to see many Al Morganfield, SR/WA of you at the next one in San Diego, CA. The speaker gave a great talk on making change work for us. I wish our entire Chapter could have been there, it was an eye-opener for me as I realized my own reluctance to embrace change at times. There have been many changes in our Association over the last year or so, many a result of influences outside our control, such as the IRS. We, as a Chapter, have the choice to work with these changes and make them work for us, or simply ignore them, probably to our detriment. I hope you will join me in working with the Association to give these changes a chance, such as the Communities of Practice and Member Fuse, so we can provide input on improving these changes going forward. I’m very thankful that about 5-years ago when I expressed an interest in serving on the Board, then President J. Parker encouraged me to attend Board Meetings and provide input. If you are interested in getting more involved in our Chapter and Association, please let me know; all are welcome and you’ll find a group that encourages new voices and ideas. Enjoy the remainder of your summer, be safe and I hope to see you at the September Board Meeting and dinner.
