Crossgates Baptist Church Prime Timers Jubilee Journal March 2016 Hallelujah, He is Risen! Duct Tape or Nails Hallelujah, He is risen, Raised in glory from the tomb! Banish doubt, proclaim the message, Joy triumphs over gloom. Hallelujah, He is living, Lord of Lords, He reigns today, Giving promise of salvation As we walk the living way. Hallelujah, He’s my Savior, Paid the price to set me free, Gave His body and His life blood On the cross of Calvary. God did it with nails. Hallelujah, He’s returning To take home his very own, To present us to the Father Before heaven’s golden throne. -Roy J. Of course, St. Peter meets him at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter says, “Here’s how it works. You need 100 points to make it into heaven. You tell me all the good things you’ve done, and I give you a certain number of points for each item, depending on how good it was. When you reach 100 points, you get in.” “Okay,” the man says, “I was married to the same woman for 50 years and never cheated on her, even in my heart.” “That’s wonderful,” says St. Peter, “that’s worth three points!” “three points?” he says. “Well, I attended church all my life and supported its ministry with my tithe and service.” “Terrific!” says St. Peter “That’s certainly worth a point.” “One point!?!!” “I started a soup kitchen in my city and worked in a shelter for homeless veterans.” “Fantastic, that’s good for two more points,” St. Peter says. “Two points!?!! “Exasperated, the man cries. “At this rate the only way I’ll get into heaven is by the grace of God.” “Bingo, 100 points! Come on in!” We often try to fix problems with WD-40 and duct tape. SPRING is in the air———I love getting up early to watch the beautiful sun rises, seeing all the different shades of reds and orange and the background of blue sky. I also enjoy seeing the trees and bushes all starting to bud and to hear all the birds singing, all giving praise to the Lord. I give Him Thanks and Praise Him daily to see and enjoy all He has for me. I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy Spring season. Resurrection Eggs with your Grandchildren Resurrection eggs can be used as a daily devotional by opening one plastic egg per day for 12 days and talking as a family about the significance of what is inside. You can use them at an egg hunt and once all 12 eggs have been collected., open them one at a time in order explaining the importance of each egg. Or if your family has Easter dinner, hand them out one by one in order and allow the family to talk about what the treat inside means to them. Thou Shalt Love thy neighbor as thyself.” Galatians 5:14 Suppose I gave everything I had to charity. You would probably say I was a really good person, a fine Christian. But Paul said that unless I acted out of love, “I am nothing.” (1 Cor. 13:2). George Sweeting has said, “Life minus love equals nothing!” Do you have this kind of love? A love that puts others ahead of yourself? Without Jesus Christ in your heart, without the Holy Spirit in your life, you can’t produce this love. This is the kind of love Jesus had for us, when He willingly left the glory of Heaven and went to the cross for our salvation. Only God can give us a selfless love for others, as the Holy Spirit changes us from within. This is one reason we must receive Christ, for apart from His Spirit we can never be freed from the chains of selfishness, jealousy, and indifference. Will others see Christ’s love in your life today? Whispers of Hope features 10 weeks of devotionals that offer an easy to remember and apply method of prayer. Along the way she helps readers know how to pray, how to pray without ceasing, and where to start in talking to God. Each devotional is followed by a prompt to put the methods of prayer into action. God is Able by Priscilla Shirer Based on one of Priscilla Shirer’s most popular speaking topics, God is Able helps readers know where to turn when life seems overwhelming. In fact, it teachers readers to Whom to turn an exceedingly almighty God who is our solid rock. Shirer applies Ephesians 3:20-21 to a wide range of challenging scenarios facing people today, leading women to the recurring answer each time: God is Purchase your ticket for $10.00 on Sunday mornings between services, at the church office or online Easter Services at Crossgates Saturday, March 26 5:30 pm Sunday, March 27 9:00 & 10:30 am Passover Meal Sampling Experience Thursday March 24|4:30 pm, 6 pm, 7:30 pm Choose from three seating times. A Lesson for All A storm came up quickly while my 4-year-old granddaughter, Hannah, and I waited to pick up her brother at school. The wind began shaking the car, so Hannah decided to call 911 on her pink toy cell phone and have the police take care of the matter. As the wind continued to blow, she announced, “I am going to send God a message and let Him take care of this since the police did nothing, Hannah proceeded to explain the situation to God, and shortly, the storm passed. She shrugged and said “I should have called God in the first place.” Simple Precaution My 6-year-old grandson, Condredge, was attending a concert wit his mother and me. At the beginning of the concert a cell phone rang. His mother said, “Someone forgot to turn off her cell phone.” Shortly afterward, a baby began to cry, Condredge looked up and aid, “Someone forgot to turn off her baby.” Her Special Touch While my grandson, Bryce, visited for a few days, we baked his favorite cookies, snickerdoodles. On the last day of his visit, I baked more cookies, but he forgot to take them home. When he realized they were missing, he began to cry. His mother offered to make some snickerdoodles, but Bryce replied, “you just make plain snickerdoodles. Nana makes them with love!” All About Antioxidants Antioxidants are among the most popularly advertised nutrients in foods. Celebrating the Resurrection by Victor M. Parachin Recommit your life to God. Confess, express sorrow for your sins, ask for forgiveness and recommit to living your faith in a more intentional vibrant way. Seek change. Identify one area of your life you would like to change. Pray for strength and wisdom to do it. Take a step toward sainthood. Paul said all Christians are called to be saints (Rom 1:7) Step into the role. Bless your children. Place your loving hand on your children or grandchildren and pray for them. Do this frequently in the weeks leading up to Easter. Ask another to forgive you if you have wronged someone, apologize and ask forgiveness. Extend forgiveness to another who has wronged you. Do this even if the person does not acknowledge the wrong. Thank God for physical health Pray for someone who is hurting. Send a note of encouragement Join a prayer group. Do small things with great love. Let your life be a spiritual testimony. Be sure your deeds match your creeds. Overcome a temptation. Read and reflect on the temptation of Jesus found in Matthew 4:1-11 Reconnect Call, write, or email someone with whom you have lost contact Practice kindness by speaking and acting kindly toward others. Review the Gospel resurrection accounts in Matthew 28; Mark 16; Luke 24; and John 20. Help someone. “I don’t think there is anything as wonderful in life as being able to help someone, said former first lady Betty Ford. Don’t delate Start Celebrating today! Matthew 28 gives us a marvelous proclamation… “the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” For a Christian, Easter means everything. Today, we celebrate the most saved of us Christian beliefs: Jesus was crucified, buried, and rose again on the third day...that He ascended to the Father...and that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. We celebrate the miraculous resurrection of Jesus Christ! As we know, Jesus’ resurrection from the dead is the crucial difference between Christian and every other faith. As you reflect on Christ’s victory over death this Easter, I hope you will take a minute to read this victorious message recorded in 1Corinthians1:2024...But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn; Christ, the first fruits; then, when He comes, those who belong to Him. Then the end will come, when He hands over the Kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power. All hail our risen Lord, upon whose mighty shoulders the Kingdom rests! Mathew Staver-Chairman, Liberty Counsel
