Canadian model may not be exactly as shown. OVERVIEW KLX110 MINI-MOTO MANIA: TWO FUN OFF-ROAD PLAYBIKES FOR YOUNGSTERS AND MINIMOTO ENTHUSIASTS Even simple bikes can offer a great deal of fun. Kawasaki recognises this and produced two playbikes based on the KLX110. Designed for youngsters aged 13 and above, and mini-moto enthusiasts, the KLX110 and KLX110L can handle rider weights up to 70 kg. KLX110L 2 0 1 2 M Y K L X 1 1 0 / 1 1 0 L M O D E L I N F O R M AT I O N Precise settings for the 112cc SOHC Single result in a more powerful engine and a 4-speed transmission features a smooth shifting, wide range gear box which makes riding fun and more aggressive riding possible. Single rear shock with triangular swingarm offers smooth wheel travel and increased bottoming performance, and roomier ergonomics accommodate a wider range of riders. 2 OVERVIEW Compounding the fun, riders now have two models to choose from. The “standard” KLX110, featuring all the improvements listed above, comes equipped with a centrifugal clutch, enabling clutchless shifting. The KLX110L features a manual clutch enabling sportier riding for those who want to enjoy greater control, and longer-travel suspension that offers superior rough-road performance. And with the addition of handy features like electric start and KACR (Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release), access to fun is easier than ever. Revised pedal and lever design further facilitate operation. Both models are wrapped in sporty factory-style bodywork emulating Kawasaki’s flagship motocrosser, the KX450F. Choice of long- or short-stroke suspension – P.7 Riders can choose between shorter (KLX110C) or longer-stroke (KLX110D) suspension. Choice of manual or automatic – P.7,9 Riders can choose from centrifugal (KLX110C) or manual (KLX110D) clutch. 4 KEY FEATURES MORE FUN The biggest challenge in owning a KLX110 or KLX110L isn’t deciding how to enjoy its amazing off-road capabilities. It’s figuring out who’s going to ride it first—because its compact dimensions, simple-to-use features, and choice of 2 models were designed for a wide range of beginning riders. Powerful Engine * Air-cooled 112cc SOHC engine pumps out plenty of responsive low-rpm torque. Valve-timing results in an engine more powerful at all rpm’s than its predecessor. * Carburettor settings match the power characteristics and offer more stable performance when riding on rough roads. * Silencer internals offer improved flow and deliver a bold exhaust note while maintaining noise levels. 4-speed transmission * Transmission features 4 gears. * Compared to the previous generations KLX110 the overall ratio in top gear (now 4th gear) is about the same, 1st gear is much taller and the gearbox has a wider range, which contributes to smoother transition, making riding more fun and more aggressive riding possible. Final ratio is now 38/13 (2.923) (Ilustration A) A * Reduced piston ring tension offers reduced mechanical friction, also contributing to the increased performance. * Shift drum cam groove and positioning spring and a smooth cam surface result in improved shift feel and positive gear engagement under all riding conditions. * Manual transmission (KLX110L only) enables sportier riding for those wishing to enjoy greater control. 2 0 1 2 M Y K L X 1 1 0 / 1 1 0 L M O D E L I N F O R M AT I O N 5 KEY FEATURES Rear Suspension Ergonomics * High rear shock spring rates, increased damping and rubber damper material offer increased bottoming performance. * Handlebar bend offers greater freedom of movement and accommodates a wider range of riders. (Photo 3) * Swingarm pivot lowered to accommodate the longer rear shock units. 3 Tires * High-traction IRC off-road tires (F: 2.50-14 4PR; R: 3.00-12 4PR) offer increased performance. Brakes * Rear brake rod offset and lever ratios offers a positive brake pedal feel. (Photos 1-2) 1 * Grip design features a raised waffle pattern on half of the surface which offers grip and comfort. * KLX110L increased seat height more easily accommodates taller riders. 2 2 0 1 2 M Y K L X 1 1 0 / 1 1 0 L M O D E L I N F O R M AT I O N 6 KEY FEATURES MORE CHOICES Riders have two models with different characteristics to choose from. The KLX110 features a centrifugal clutch, making it ideal for those looking to enjoy simply playing on two wheels; the KLX110L offers a manual clutch and longer-travel suspension for those looking to enjoy greater control and even more off-road performance. Factory styling gives the KLX110 and KLX110L the look of true motocrossers. Easy starting Bodywork * Electric starter offers hassle-free starting. (Photo 8) 8 * Shrouds, tank, number plate, side covers and fenders are modelled after our flagship motocross racers. (Photo 9) 9 KLX110 * KACR (Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release) (using the intake valve) provides easy starting for both the electric starter and kick starter. Easy operation * The shape of the shift pedal, brake pedal and kick start pedal offer easier operation and minimize unintended actuation. * Starter and kill switch are both located at the left handle grip, allowing the rider to operate the throttle with one hand while starting or stopping the engine with the other. 2 0 1 2 M Y K L X 1 1 0 / 1 1 0 L M O D E L I N F O R M AT I O N KLX110 9 ADDITIONAL FEATURES Engine Other * Muffler comes equipped with a spark arrester, meaning the KLX110/L can access designated off-road public riding areas. * Neutral-only starting (KLX110 only) prevents the bike from being started in gear. * Digital DC-CDI ensures quick starts and low maintenance. * Adjustable throttle allows performance to be limited. * Ignition timing inspection hole added to the left side of the engine facilitates maintenance. * Three separate heat shields are mounted on the exhaust system. * Efficiently designed airbox is compact and easy to service. Chassis * Sturdy high-tensile steel backbone frame and high-tensile steel braced swingarm contribute to the excellent handling characteristics of the KLX110 and KLX110L. * Sprocket-style chain drive roller (KLX110L only) helps smooth engine braking by reducing the effect of driveline lash when the rider gets off the gas quickly and play in the lower side of the chain suddenly tightens.
