Greetings from YOUR New Lenox Community Park District!
Here are just a few of the new programs to look for in the Fall Catalog:
• Line Dancing for the 55+ Crowd
• Cardio Tennis for 16 & Over…High-energy fitness activity that combines features of the sport of tennis with
cardiovascular exercises.
• Club Kiddie Kampus…Extra care for participants while concentrating on large motor skills.
This is just a small sample of the full spectrum of recreational programs to choose from. So don’t delay, sign up now!
Turning our attention to your park system, on June 25 we held the Official Grand Opening of your newest park, Walker
Country Estates Park. This park is located on the north side of town, next to Liberty Jr. High School. After four attempts
to get a 50% matching grant and two fiscal years of budgeting, this park was finally constructed, but the wait was well
worth it. This park features a splash pad for our younger kids, playground equipment, walking trail, a 3-goal basketball
shoot around and a fully-stocked ADA-accessible, 6-acre pond.
PRESIDENT’S LETTER
As your Park District wraps up another summer of fun-filled activities, we look to see what fall programs will be offered.
Your Park District Recreation Department is always thinking “outside the box” to come up with new and improved
programs to peak your interest and this fall season is no different.
As I mentioned, this park was built with a 50% matching grant from the Illinois Department of Resources OSLAD Grant
Program. As I am sure you have heard in the news, all grant programs out of Springfield have been frozen while our
legislators grapple with getting our State’s finances in order. Your Park District Commissioners and Staff are going to
take this time to update our current “Parks and Recreational Master Plan”, so that when they reinstate the OSLAD Grant
Program, we will be better prepared in our application process for the 50% match in funding.
Your Park Board and Staff realize the impact the State’s finances have on our operation. As information and decisions
are made down in Springfield, we will respond accordingly. We will continue to provide the best recreational programs
possible, while being financially prudent as we go about meeting the needs of today, while planning for the future.
Remember…Be Active and Stay Healthy!
Sincerely.
Brian Fischer

The Lettermen
When The Lettermen (Tony Butala, Donovan Tea, and Bobby Poynton) take the stage, it’s an instant trip down memory lane to a time
when three young men in letter sweaters rode their first hit single, “The Way You Look Tonight” all the way to the top of the charts.
Over the years, they’ve filled more than 50 albums with such familiar hits as “When I Fall in Love” and “Put Your Head on My Shoulder”.
Once described as “the best thing that happened to romance since moonlight,” an experience with The Lettermen’s sweet harmonies
proves their smooth and romantic sound simply never goes out of style. Don’t miss your chance to hear your favorite of their 25 chart
hit singles such as “Goin' Out of My Head”, “Can't Take My Eyes Off You”, “Theme from A Summer Place”, “Shangri-La”, “Hurt So Bad”,
and many, many more!

The Wonder Bread Years
A salute to the Baby Boomer Generation, “The Wonder Bread Years” starring Pat Hazell, is a fast-paced, hilarious production that
gracefully walks the line between stand-up and theater. From sitting at the kids table to riding in the way back of the Country Squire
Wagon, this show not only restores a much-needed sense of wonder, but will leave you laughing and savoring the past like never
before. Declared by Showtime as one of the five funniest people in America, Pat Hazell is one of the original writers for NBC's Seinfeld,
a Tonight Show veteran, a critically acclaimed playwright, and a contributing commentator to National Public Radio. He is recognized
for his genuinely funny Americana humor and his salute to pop culture. Whether you were a parent or a child during that time, “The

Franc D’Ambrosio’s Veterans’ Tribute
Lincoln-Way is excited to welcome back Franc D’Ambrosio with a new show, “I’ll Be Seein’ YOUZ.” You can take the boy out of the
Bronx but fortunately there's more than a little Bronx left in D'Ambrosio. The performance features stories from Franc's colorful Bronx,
Italian family and features popular war songs from 1939-1946 such as “Rosie the Riveter”, “U.S. Armed Forces Medley”, “White Cliffs
of Dover”, and “God Bless America”. Franc is best known for his impressive portrayal of the “Phantom” in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s
Tony Award-Winning Musical, “The Phantom of the Opera”. Some performers are meant to be on stage, in a relationship with a live
audience, Franc D’Ambrosio is one of those engaging performers. Franc takes the audience on a nostalgic walk through the popular
music of WWII with his rich tenor voice and a patter that is utterly natural and charming.

own work schedule? Do you have a background in Fitness, Early Childhood, Craft Design, or any other special ability? If so,

Commemorative Tree and Bench Program
What is the S.T.O.P. PROGRAM?
Are you looking for a special way in which to honor a loved
one or to commemorate a Special Event?
S.T.O.P. stands for Stop Trashing Our Parks and will be
represented by a Beaver dressed as a park ranger, holding a
STOP sign in one paw and cash in the other paw. Cash rewards
will be paid for information leading to the apprehension of park
vandals. Individuals providing information are not required to
identify themselves. Hopefully, kids of all ages can relate to this
“friendly mascot” and understand that he is trying to protect the
parks.
The New Lenox Community Park District’s Commemorative
Tree and Bench Program is dedicated to the planting of a tree or
placement of a bench in honor of a loved one, organization, or
to celebrate your special occasion. There is a variety of trees that
can be purchased and planted. Please keep in mind that trees
may be purchased at any time, but are only planted in the spring
and fall and benches would be installed weather permitting.
Please note that these trees and/or benches may be placed
within a park site or at our Sanctuary Golf Course but restrictions
do apply. Each commemorative donation will be designated
with a plaque honoring your request. For further information,
please call 815.485.3584.
Reminder to Pet Owners
When visiting local parks with your pet, please remember that
the Park District and Village ordinances require dogs to be
leashed at all times. Owners are responsible for cleaning up any
animal excrement from public property.

Musikgarten
Ages 6 months-3 years
Instead of just another sing-a-long class, Musikgarten offers
your child music education at an early age. Your child will
bounce, wiggle, sing and dance while they learn rhythm
and other musical concepts through activities, games and
instruments. This is a wonderful way to bond while they
learn and have fun at the same time. All of our instructors are
Musikgarten certified.
Family Music for Toddlers-Sing with Me
Program Requirements
• Children must be the correct age by 9/1/15, unless
otherwise specified. In order to provide your child
with the best possible recreational and/or learning
experience, all of our programs are planned according
to the ages listed in our brochure.
• Classes are for child attending only, except for
classes with an adult. Parents should not remain in
the classroom or gymnasium after dropping off their
child. This is in the child’s best interest, as continual
interruptions tend to affect participant’s attention span
and inhibit the establishment of peer relationships.
• All children must be potty-trained, unless they are
attending a class where an adult stays with them or
otherwise stated in the class description. Diapers are
not permitted in independent classes unless stated in
the class description.

Catch on! Balloon Ball is played like soccer with kids being
allowed to pick up the ball and run with it, throw it or kick it in
one of the two goals for a score. The action is a bit faster, with
fewer rules than soccer so kids are not being corrected as much
in this new fast pace game. Kids will be taught coordination and

Batter UP! Blast Ball is the introduction to baseball for 4-5 year
olds. The game is very safe, played with a soft bat and ball,
no glove is needed. Each player bats once an inning and no
scores are kept. Blast Ball consists of one base and it makes a
“honking” noise when a player steps on it. Major League Baseball
recognized Blast Ball as part of its campaign to promote the
resurgence of baseball at the grass-roots level. Kids Love IT!

This program cannot run without the help of volunteer coaches.
Soccer provides your son/daughter the opportunity to have
fun while learning the skills of running, kicking and teamwork.
All games are one hour and teams will play one game every
Saturday. The first day of the league will be a practice day only.
After the first week, teams will practice for fifteen minutes
before each game. Everyone plays! You do not pick the time you
want to play, it is random each week.
Does your child want to begin playing sports, but may need
to learn the basics? If so, these introductory classes, which
are designed to teach basic skills as well as help the young
athlete brush up on sport fundamentals, is the answer!
Each of these classes will help them improve their eye-foot

PROGRAM CATALOG DISTRIBUTION
NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN: (1) once a program begins unless a
replacement is found; (2) on material fees unless we cancel a
program; (3) on bus trips; or (4) for Special Events or one-day
programs. A full refund is issued if we cancel a program or trip.
Our seasonal catalogs are distributed as an insert in the New
Lenox Patriot Newspaper. For customers outside of New Lenox,
the Park District relies on the postal service for distribution
of our program catalogs. The Park District assumes no
responsibility for delivery. Please contact us at 815.485.3584 if
you do not receive your catalog.
• When a participant cancels out of a program, a full refund,
LESS a $5 Service Charge (per program); will be granted.
A $5 service charge will also be assessed on all program
transfers. These requests will only be honored if the request
is submitted THREE BUSINESS DAYS prior to the start of the
program or activity.
• All refunds less than $10 will be applied as a credit to the
customer’s account.
• A $30 NSF fee will be added for all returned checks.
• Every effort will be made to process refunds within 30 days,
but in some instances it may take longer.
CANCELLATION
Staff reserves the right to consolidate, postpone, reschedule
or cancel any program due to change in day, dates, times,
instructor, or insufficient enrollment.
For cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e.
inclement weather, facility emergencies or scheduling conflicts),
which are announced by the Lincoln-Way District #210 or
New Lenox School District #122 at facilities where Park District
programs are scheduled, Park District programming will be
cancelled as well. All attempts will be made to reschedule
cancelled classes. However, the New Lenox Community Park
District is sometimes unable to accommodate make-up classes
and will not refund money in such instances.
PROGRAM BEHAVIOR POLICY
FOR YOUR SAFETY
A mandatory sign-in and sign-out procedure is required for all
participants enrolled in any Park District program. Children must
be accompanied by an adult when being escorted to and from
class.
LIABILITY
The New Lenox Community Park District is unable to assume
responsibility for injuries, accidents or loss of personal property
occurring during programs or activities, in parks or facilities.
Such insurance would make programs and user fees prohibitive.
It is recommended that participants make provisions to provide
this coverage through their family insurance program.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
If you are (1) a New Lenox resident and (2) cannot participate
for financial reasons, you may be eligible for financial aid.
Please contact the Park District’s Recreation Superintendent at
815.485.3584 for an interview. Please note that the maximum
household scholarship benefit is $1,000 per year.
MILITARY DISCOUNT
We are pleased to offer a military discount for those who qualify.
Please contact 815.485.3584 for further information and details.
Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at
all times. The following guidelines have been developed to
help make Park District programs safe and enjoyable for all
participants. Additional rules may be developed for particular
programs and athletic leagues as deemed necessary by staff.
• Show respect to participants and staff; take direction from
staff.
www.newlenoxparks.org
• Refrain from using abusive or foul language, or from causing
bodily harm to self, other participants, or staff.
• Show respect to equipment, supplies, and facilities. The New
Lenox Community Park District reserves the right to terminate
a party’s participation in a Park District program due to that
party’s disruptive behavior or conduct.
