The Inland Empire’s Guide to Fun
October is here and along with the
cooler weather comes the usual host of
ghouls and goblins.Admit it, Halloween is
just as much fun for adults as it is for kids.
We take a look at all the chilling events
taking place this month with a roundup on
page 6.
Don’t forget to pick up your perfect
pumpkin for that scary night. While you’re
choosing one, you might as well have a
good time. On page 8, we review Live Oak
Canyon, a pumpkin patch that’s more than
just a field of melons.
For something a little different, get on
board the technological fast-track on page
9 for a high-energy trip into electronic
gaming. GamePlex centers promise to
transfer the arcades of old into tired relics.
Happy Halloween from IER!

The 30-minute workoutfor-women craze that has
swept the nation from companies like Curves has finally
found its way to men. The
Blitz seeks to undo what years
of fast food and remote controls have turned men into.
As a weight trainer and
expert in personal fitness, The
Blitz founder, Scott Smith, has
designed and developed The
Blitz machines, allowing for
bi-directional resistance that
creates the necessary load on
muscle groups to burn a high
amount of calories in a short
period of time.
As a master instructor in
martial arts, Smith has incorporated various punching,
kicking and striking techniques against heavy bags into
the workout as well, adding a
high level of energy to the
workout.
The result is a cross-training program that can be
accomplished in only 20 minutes. Working The Blitz circuit
3 times a week can help tone
muscles, lose weight, strengthen joints, improve circulation,
reduce stress, increase selfesteem and improve overall
well-being, leading to a higher
quality of life.
The Blitz locations can be
found in Ontario at 2435 S.

Catch the ‘Horror’ Live
P
erformance Riverside, the
Inland Empire’s own nationally
recognized professional theatre,
is set to open the outrageous
cult phenomenon The Rocky
Horror Show on October 31. One of the
longest running shows in London theatre
history, the musical sensation became a
huge hit on the midnight movie circuit
after its cinematic debut.
Featuring one of the catchiest scores in
musical theatre history, The Rocky Horror
Show is an unforgettable assemblage of
the most stereotyped “B” science fiction
movies, Frankie Avalon and Annette
Funicello outings and nearly every rock
and roll vintage. Conceived and written
by Richard O’Brien, the show centers
around the naïve and newly engaged
Brad and Janet, who seek refuge from a
storm and end up in the asylum-like castle of Dr. Frank ‘n’ Furter.
The Rocky Horror Show is filled with
some of the most bizarre and hilarious
characters in any production one is likely
to see. From the gender-bending Frank
‘n’ Furter to his hunchbacked assistant
and his demented sister, this is a musical
theatre experience which makes the
show’s popularity easy to understand.
Eric Anderson stars as the over-the-top
Frank ‘n’ Furter. His previous
Performance Riverside credits include
Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar, Bill

they set out seven years ago to create a
nightclub that rivals any in the Inland Empire
and they succeeded.
Club 316 offers a true nightclub experience to over 400 single adults in the worship center of one of the largest churches
in the area. They did this by providing a
huge 2500 square foot dance floor with
professional disco and show lighting, three
DJ’s that play a mix of Rock, Christian, and
Country music, with free dance lessons
thrown in an hour before the dance begins.
Oh, by the way, there is a full non-alcohol
beverage bar too.
Club 316 opens its doors only one time
per month; the next club date is Saturday,
October 18 when they will open at 7 pm
with free dance lessons with the dance
beginning at 8 pm and going until midnight.
There is a theme for the October Club 316
– “Retro Nite” – just come in any 60’s, 70’s,
or 80’s costume (nothing from the street
side or the dark side).
Cover is $10 at the door, which includes
