Installation Instructions
For: 1997 - 2006 Wrangler / TJ

This product is designed to enhance the
appearance of the vehicle and to shield the
occupants from ordinary weather conditions. Do not rely in any way on the
components of this product to contain
occupants within the vehicle, or to protect
against injury or death in the event of an
accident. This top will not protect the
occupants from falling objects. Never
operate vehicle in excess of manufacture's
specifications.
Installation Tips.
Before you begin to install the new top
read all instructions thoroughly. Below are
a few tips to make this installation easier.
After completing the installation, keep
these instructions for further reference.
Read and follow, precisely, all installation
instructions provided when installing top.
Failure to do so may result in a poor fitting
top and could place occupants of the
vehicle in a potentially dangerous situation.
After installing or reinstalling the top,
check to make sure it has been properly
installed before driving.

For a Smooth Fit:
For ease in installation, the top should be
installed at a temperature above 72 F.
Below this temperature, the fabric may
contract an inch or more, making it hard
to fit to the vehicle.

It is normal for the fabric to contract and
wrinkle when stored in the shipping carton.
Within a few days of the installation, the
fabric will relax and the wrinkles will
disappear.

R emoving the Old T op
T ools needed:
(1) S hoe Horn
(2) S afety G las s es
S afety glas s es s hould be worn
(3) R azor K nife
at all times while ins talling this
(4) P hillips s crewdriver product.
S tep (1) :
R emove the quarter windows and rear
window. R emove the metal tailgate bar
from the bottom of the rear window and
s et to the s ide. It will be reus ed.
R eleas e the plas tic s trips s ewn to the
top above the doors . P ull down and out
to s lip the plas tic out of the channel.
S tep (2) :
R eleas e the latch that s ecures the
header to the winds hield. P ull up on the
lever and then down and out to releas e
the hook from the s lot in the winds hield
frame.
S tep (3) :
R eleas e the rear corners of the top. P ull
gently down and then out to releas e the
plas tic s trip from the retainer on the
vehicle.
S tep (4) :
Unfas ten the flap around the middle bow.
S tep (5) :
Uns nap the fabric from the rear bow and
allow the bow to drop onto the tailgate.

Due to recent header as s embly modifications by
Daimler C hrys ler, the plas tic s trips on the winds hield
header may have 8 s crew locations ins tead of 14.
B oth attachment number of s crews will s ecurely
fas ten the header and perform as intended.
S tep (6) :
C ollaps e the bow as s embly down onto the
tailgate. W ith the bow as s embly laying on
the tailgate, remove the s crews that fas ten
to the corners of the header. S et s crews
as ide for us e later. T hey are reus ed for the
ins tallation of the new top.
S tep (7) :
F lip the top fabric back over into the rear of
the vehicle (s o that the fabric lays backing
s ide up) to expos e the plas tic s trip along
the edge of the fabric. R emove the eight or
fourteen s crews the s ecure the fabric to
the header, s etting the s crews as ide for
us e in the ins talling the new top. T hen
remove the old top fabric from the vehicle.
Ins talling the New T op.
S tep (1) :
If you have a 1997 vehic le with a s lip-on
plas tic extrus ion on the door s urround, it
mus t be removed. P ull down on the
extrus ion to work it loos e.
S tep (2) :
In order to ins tall the top fabric, make s ure
that the center and rear bows are in the
folded down pos ition on the rear of the
vehicle.
Lay the top fabric, backing s ide up in the
rear of the vehicle with the plas tic s trip
facing up and aligned with the front edge
of the header. Locate the round hole that
marks the center of the plas tic s trip (all
other holes are s lotted). Ins tall a s crew in
the round hole to s ecure the fabric to the
header as well as to center the top. T hen
proceed to ins tall s crews in the remaining
s even or thirteen holes along the front of
the header.

S tep (3) :
F lip the fabric over s o that it wraps
around the header and drape the top
fabric over the tailgate. R ais e the header
s lightly and work the pockets in the fabric
over the corners of the header. Ins tall an
oval head s crew in each corner to s ecure
the fabric to the header.
S tep (4) :
R ais e the header and bow as s embly
towards the winds hield and into pos ition.
Ins ide the top, s nap the fabric to the
rear bow (total of s ix s naps ).
S tep (5) :
Make s ure that the center bow is centered
in the hook and loop flap ins ide the top. Do
not fas ten the flap at this time.
P ull down gently on the rear bow and work
the plas tic s ewn to the rear corner of the
top into the retainer on the vehicle.
S tep (6) :
C los e the header latches to s ecure the
front of the top to the winds hield. C atch
the hook in the s lot in the winds hield frame
and then clos e the lever over it s o that it
lays flat agains t the winds hield frame.
S tep (7) :
W rap and fas ten the hook and loop on the
two flaps ins ide the top around the center
bow.

S tep (8) :
Locate the left and right quarter window
panels and orient them with the zipper
s lider about 10" - 12" along the top.
S tep (9) :
R oll the plas tic along the front of the panel
into the channel of the door s urround on
the vehicle.
S tep (10): Locate the plas tic s trip s ewn to each s ide
of the top, above each door. S lip the s trips
into the channel in the door s urround above
the door opening.
S tep (11): C los e the zipper on the quarter panels the
res t of the way to the lower rear corner of
the panel.
S tart at the rear and roll the plas tic along
the bottom of the panel into the retainer on
the vehicle. T hen fas ten the hook and loop
s trips along the rear of the panel to the top.
S tep (12): R emove the rear window from the box and
lay it flat with the backing s ide up. Locate
the tailgate bar s et as ide in s tep one. T he
bar has a "C " s haped channel, when viewed
from the end. Orient the bar with the round
s eal down and s lide the "C " channel on the
retainer onto the tubed s trip s ewn to the
backing s ide of the rear window.
S tep (13): Ins ert the tailgate bar into the mounts on
each s ide of the tailgate opening with the
vinyl s ide of the rear window towards the
outs ide of the vehicle.

S tep (14): T o s tart the zipper, pull the two s liders as
far down as pos s ible on the driver's s ide of
the window in order to catch the s liders to
the pin.
Once the zipper is caught, s tart the top
s lider 1/2". T hen hold up the top of the
window with one hand and clos e the zipper
with the other. T he zipper in s andwiched
between layers of fabric in the corners s o
be careful not to catch extra fabric in the
zipper. C los e zipper.
Make s ure that the tailgate is centered and
is s ecurely in the mounts . T hen tuck the
flaps on the rear window under the top
fabric.
F olding the T op Down.
S tep (1) :
R emove the quarter panels and rear window
curtain and s tore them carefully.
S tep (2) :
R eleas e the front of the top from the
winds hield. R ais e the front of the deck and
collaps e the rear bows , tucking the two
plas tic s trips above the door opening and
the s tay pad on the rear bow ins ide of the
bows . W rap the fabric around the bows ,
then tuck the rear legs of the top under the
bows .

Y our top is made of the fines t materials available. T o keep it looking new and for the maximum
pos s ible ware, it will need periodic cleaning and maintenance.
W as hing:
T he fabric s hould be was hed often us ing s oap, warm water and a s oft bris tle brus h. R ins e with
clear water to remove all traces of s oap.
Zippers :
K eeping the zipper cleaned and lubricated with a
s ilicone lubricant will help prevent damage and
keep the zippers in a s mooth working condition.
If a zipper opens behind the s lider, the s lider may
have been s pread apart. T his problem can us ually
be repaired by us ing an ordinary pair of pliers to
bring the s ides back into parallel. R eturn s lider to
end of the zipper in the normal open pos ition.
S queeze lightly at firs t and tes t the zipper. If
the zipper continues to remain open, s queeze
more firmly with the pliers and try the zipper again.
repeat this procedure until the zipper operates
correctly.
W ater:
In the event of s eeping through the s eams , 3M S cotchgard® may be applied on the ins ide of
the s eams to s top the s eepage. R ips in the fabric may be repaired with B ondex® iron on
patches . Iron the patches to the ins ide of the top, carefully following the B ondex® ins tructions .
S naps :
K eep s naps cleaned and lubricated with s ilicone to help prevent s naps from s ticking to the s tuds .
If a s nap does become s tuck to a s tud, us e a s mall flat head s crew driver and G E NT LY pry
apart to prevent permanent damage to the s nap or the top fabric.
W indows :
K eep windows clean to avoid s cratching. DO NOT us e a brus h on the windows ! W as h with
a water s oaked cloth or s ponge and a mild dis h was hing detergent. NE V E R W IP E T HE
W INDOW S W HE N T HE Y AR E DR Y ! B e careful when cleaning s now or fros t from the vinyl

windows s ince they are eas ily s cratched and may crack at low temperatures . DO NOT roll
the s ides or rear window in cold weather. T he windows become s tiff and will crack.
