We speak of Reform Judaism and not Reform-ed Judaism, because the process of transformation is never ending. We strive to adapt to the changing environment of the twentyfirst century and re-imagine ourselves to create a modern Jewish spiritual community. These reformative changes have coincided with the changing face of our synagogue homes. The lives we live and the world we live in change at light speed, as does the need for a place of holiness amid this chaos. The cycle of news and information that direct our lives come to us endlessly and instantaneously as our world unfolds. We are forced to constantly assimilate and respond to this onslaught of facts and myths and find our place and direction in this world as human beings and as a religious community. This year marks a new beginning for both of us. With each new day and each celebration of a sacred moment in time, we are creating a new future together. Having already shared my vision for Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El on the first morning of Rosh Hashanah, I want to emphasize yet another aspect of thinking of our community as a sacred tent. One of the many blessings of a tent is that it is transportable. We can carry our dwelling place with us to where we are in time and space. It moves as we move. Like the tents of our religious faith we will strive to be a place of welcoming, a place of holiness, and a place of beauty. When the needs of our world ask us to look inward, we will find beauty, and hospitality, and holiness here in our home away from home, TKAE. When the cycles of our lives or our Jewish year ask us to find strength and community, we will again find beauty, hospitality, and holiness, all of these things and more, in each other, in our religious traditions, and in God. A poem was written about a man deep in his slumber and that he had a very real, yet surreal dream. He dreamt that he was walking along the beach with God. As he looked up at the sky, he saw all the scenes of his life flash by along with two sets of footprints: one set for himself, and another for God. After all the scenes had flashed before him, he looked back at those footprints and noticed something quite disturbing; 3 at the most difficult times in his life, there was only one set of footprints. This deeply troubled the man, so he turned and said to God: “You said that if I followed you, then you would always walk with me through thick and thin. In looking back, I see that during the most painful times there is only one set of footprints. Why did you leave me when I needed you the most?” God responded, “I love you and would never leave. It was during those times when you suffered the most that I carried you.” Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El will also be with you as you travel through life. At times TKAE and your religious community will carry you, at times you will be hand in hand, and at times you may help to carry others. Just know that no matter where you are in the world, your community, your tents from TKAE, are with you. This is our sacred mission and what it means to be a part of this sacred community as a place of beauty, warmth, and holiness. L’shalom - In Peace, Rabbi Howard Needleman Growth, Renewal & New Beginnings W ith a couple of hours to fill on a recent transatlantic flight I took the time to watch an amusing yet insightful film entitled 'Boredom'. Apparently, with the advent of the smartphone, wifi, and our ever sense of connectivity, boredom has been relegated to the annals of history. No longer, do we have to wait aimlessly in line at the grocery store, or study the ingredients of a bottle of ketchup while luncheoning alone. Indeed, even on a 90 minute ferry to Cape Cod from Boston, I watched in envy as passengers passed the time on their phones as mine sat aimlessly battery drained during our 3 hour flight. Growing up in an orthodox Jewish home, I'm starting to realize the advantages of celebrating a traditional Shabbat experience. No electricity, no global inter connectivity, and truly 25 hours of rest from the unending babble of thoughts, pressures, and time constraints that characterize many of our lives. Finding time to slow down affords us the opportunity to check in with ourselves and experience rather than run on auto pilot. We may become more aware of why we're not feeling quite right, or the reasons why something is bothering us. Some of us run, go to the gym, or take a yoga class. Attending a religious service, participating in prayer and meditation is another way to slow down. Indeed, the root of the Hebrew verb 'to pray'' is reflexive. In Judaism, the primary role of prayer is to afford us this chance to think and reflect. This year we will be focusing on Shabbat as an opportunity for us to escape the pressures of everyday life. Together, we will experience the beauty of our tradition through the melding of ancient and modern music coupled with inspirational and meaningful study, discussion, and divrei Torah. Join us on this journey of self discovery, reflection, and joyful spirituality. Welcome to Shabbat at Kol Ami Emanu-El. Cantor Mark Goldman 4 “Finding time to slow down affords us the opportunity to check in with ourselves and experience rather than run on auto pilot.” Cantor Mark Goldman A Hope for the Future In my family, we have a yearly tradition. As my children sit down to dinner after the first week of school we ask, “So, you’ve been in school one week, do you know what you want to be when you grow up?” For years I’ve been getting answers that range from astronaut to rock star, but this year’s answer threw me for a loop. “What do you want us to be?” asked my precocious daughter. I thought about it, and after a year of threatening all of the things they couldn’t be if they didn’t do their homework, or study, or care, I answered, “I just want you two to be mensches.” CHERYL JACOBS Associate Rabbi “The commandment to raise good, mensch-like children is interwoven throughout the Torah and the Talmud.” Rabbi Cheryl Jacobs The notion of wanting your child to be a mensch (good person) is nothing new. The commandment to raise good, mensch-like children is interwoven throughout the Torah and the Talmud. However, mixed with the stresses of 21st century life, it’s easy to lose sight of the desires we have for our children that surpass diplomas and graduate degrees. To that same end, I am proud that we will be expanding our Social Action initiatives to include our TKAE children this year. Last year showed a large influx of participation in and commitment to Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World) and Gemilut Hasadim (Deeds of Loving Kindness) in our congregation, but it is time to expand our programming to the youngest among us as you’re never too young to care for someone else. Our Early Childhood PTO has added many new projects to their mitzvah initiative this year. Knowing that you’re never to young to volunteer, students and their families will have opportunities to collect school supplies for disadvantaged children, participate in food drives, create cards for deployed soldiers and so much 5 more. In addition, the Early Childhood Judaic Curriculum will be comprised mainly of Jewish holidays and values, allowing our young mensches to integrate the doing of good deeds into their daily lives. We are particularly excited about the new social action programming being implemented into our Religious School. In addition to monthly collections and programs during our Sunday religious school, once a month our 8-12th grade students will be able to participate in a direct service project. On Tuesday evenings, our children will prepare sandwiches and toiletry bags for the homeless, put together Thanksgiving baskets for needy families, cook dinner for suffering children and families at the Ronald McDonald House and much, much more. We are certain that this exposure to Gemilut Hasadim will add a tremendous amount to their Jewish education. And look, of course, for many more opportunities to serve meals on Sundays at the Broward Partnership for the Homeless Soup Kitchen, volunteer with disadvantaged kids at Children’s Harbor, build a home with Habitat for Humanity and so many other worthy projects. As we begin this new year, 5774, my hope for all of us is that we can truly appreciate who we are and strive to become better. In that way, perhaps we can enjoy life to the fullest and be a positive influence in our community. After all, as Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav once said, “If you won’t be better tomorrow than you were today, then what need do you have for tomorrow?” Rabbi Cheryl Jacobs THE Camp Coleman Presents DAILYSHOW To support Reform Jewish Youth Engagement, we invite you to an evening of comedy and song November 16, 2013 8:00 pm Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El 8200 Peters Road, Plantation, FL 33324 for ages 18 and up Patti Linsky Recording Artist, Songwriter and Alum of URJ Camp Coleman Performing excerpts from her one-woman show “Altar EGO” Adam Lowitt Four-time Emmy Award Winner Standup Comedian and Alum of URJ Camp Coleman Beth Schafer Acclaimed Jewish Singer Songwriter Leader of Congregation, Temple Shir Shalom in Oviedo, Florida For ticket information go to www.campcoleman.org and click on Broward County Camp Coleman 2013 Event (under Quick Links) All proceeds will go toward the Broward Coleman Scholarship Fund NEW YEAR NEW DIRECTION s Executive Director of Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El, A I am pleased to have welcomed you to our High Holiday services. Dvir Weiss - Executive Director STRIVE COMMUNITY COMFORT ZONE BERESHIT TOGETHER GIVING HOPE RENEW BERESHIT NEW BEGINNINGS CHADASH NEW DIRECTION HOPE CHANGE SHANAH TOVAH CHADASH SHABBAT NEW DIRECTION I would like to welcome Josh Simon, formerly of Peoria, Illinois. Josh is our new Youth Director. He brings with him 18 years of youth leadership experience. CREATE CHALLENGE SHABBAT Building a 21st Century Temple t has been a little over a year since I began my term Itake as Temple President. When I made the decision to on this new role, I worked closely with my two predecessors so that we could continue our commitment and goal of building a “21st Century Temple” that meets the needs of our long-term existing congregants as well for individuals and families raising children in the new fast-paced modern Jewish world where even just 20 minutes seems like a long time. Before writing this article, I had a chance to read Rabbi Needleman’s article in this issue of 8200 and to reflect on his sermon from Rosh Hashanah. We are rich in tradition and history here at Temple Kol Ami EmanuEl. We have the buildings and campus to preserve our reform Jewish roots and values. However, bricks and mortar alone are not sufficient to maintain enduring importance in today’s fast paced world. A physical presence is indeed important, but connecting with our Jewish community beyond our walls is equally as important. So, as I think about where we are going at TKAE and look to our future, I strongly believe that the best way to assure our enduring presence is to be ahead of the curve, not behind it. We can only preserve Jewish values and traditions by keeping current with the times, while still honoring our past. As society evolves, we too must evolve to stay relevant in the lives of our long time members, young families and their children. Balancing the old with the new is always a challenge. The way to preserve our Jewish belief and tradition is to be “stable” in our traditions and beliefs, and also to be aware of the times we are living in and transform what we do and how we do it at TKAE. To Rabbi Needleman’s point, this is precisely when Reform Judaism is at its best. Our fundamental belief is committed to reform Jewish values. We must honor and observe our religion and movement’s traditions and teachings, but we must also be very committed to our future generations and meeting the new realities and challenges they face in today’s world. We must provide for our future generations with the leadership, programs and attractions necessary to fulfill their needs in a modern world. This is essential to creating a permanent legacy for our Synagogue. As we evolve, there are many new initiatives at Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El we are proud to introduce. As we begin 5774, I would like to share with you a few of the changes that you will see from all of us at Kol Ami Emanu-El. Return Again to Shabbat: We are very committed to bringing back Shabbat like never before to our families. It seems in today’s world that giving up an hour once a week in our busy lives has become harder and harder, but in this fast paced world the rewards are so beneficial to our minds, bodies and souls. This summer we focused CALVIN HELITZER on delivering some specific, Temple President meaningful and fun Shabbat programs and the participation was amazing! Stay tuned for more creativity, adaptivity and enjoyment with Shabbat. Technology and Communication: Perhaps by now you may have seen our new website. We will continue our focus on incorporating social media and technology to deliver information in a multitude of ways to our members. The computer age has changed how we communicate and it has changed how and when we meet. For example, our B’nai Mitzvah kids meet weekly with Cantor for their lessons. Some lessons are in person and some are scheduled via Skype over the Internet depending on a family’s hectic schedule. We will stay committed to using technology to enhance our services, education, and communication. Community Outreach: TKAE is and always will be “The Center of Our Jewish Community.” Growing and supporting our Jewish families through community outreach and engagement will also be a priority. Our clergy and senior staff will focus this year on outreach work. Bringing learning and engagement into our homes, meeting up at coffee shops, hosting pop-up Shabbats, and other events in the community are just a sampling of what we plan to do to connect with our families and their social networks. Mindful Social Action: Social Action is central to our lives. No matter what our ages and how busy our lives, social justice and engagement continues to enrich each of us and give us meaning and purpose. This year we will continue to expand upon various shared opportunities to spend time together making the world a better place. We will provide our mitzvah kids and teens with the opportunities to define what projects are meaningful to them. At Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El we are proud that we are committed to taking a leadership role both locally and nationally. Our plans to roll out new, exciting and meaningful programs and initiatives will enhance and energize all of our busy lives. Our programs are intended to build relationships, as it is the relationship that will build and strengthen our Temple Family. We are stable in our beliefs, traditions and practices, but we are also moving forward in a fun and exciting way. I hope you and your families will be a part of it. S Whether it is a child’s first year of pre-school or last or a parent’s first time sending their precious loved one to school, new beginnings are inevitable. Children as well as parents often struggle with saying goodbye and starting a new year. The first day of this 2013-14 school year was flawless. The children transitioned beautifully with few tears. Though reactions vary from child to child, children learn to adjust to their new environment very quickly. One of the biggest adjustments for children is separating from their mommies and daddies and creating a bond with their new teachers. It is important for children to build confidence and independence. As I walked through the hallways that morning and peeked into each classroom, the smiles and giggles were proof of the loving and nurturing environment our teachers provide for our students. We have many new and exciting events planned for our new year. The experiences gained in and out of the classrooms will set the pathway for our children’s future. Dr. Seuss said it best in his book All the Places You Will Go. “You’re off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, So….Get on our way!” Choosing the right school for your child is essential. The learning environment as well as programming within the school and Temple are important and powerful teaching tools. We encourage our parents to be involved in and out of the classroom. Please mark your calendars for our upcoming events. The more involved our parents are in their children’s experiences, the more our children will be able to take from these experiences. Please let me know if there are any hidden talents you or a family member would like to share. We welcome new ideas and love to see new faces. Upcoming Dates: STACEY KATZ Early Childhood Director September 19 September 20 – 25 September 26 October 18 October 21 – 24 October 25 October 28 – 31 MATT BODNER School Closed (Sukkot) Students eating in the Sukkah School Closed (Simchat Torah) Dinner/Tot Shabbat 6:00 P.M. Swimming No School/Teacher Work Day Swimming 1100 miles away and 50 degrees colder, starting school at the University of Michigan will not be easy for a kid who’s spent 16 out of his 18 years in the warm Florida sun. Between trudging through the snow to get to my classes and cheering in the freezing rain at football games, I know I’ll begin to miss the relatively warm winters I’ve spent with my friends and family. While all that may be different, I’ll still have the opportunity to keep some ties to home by going to high holiday services at the Hillel on campus, and becoming friends with like-minded Jewish peers, as I have been doing at Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El my entire life. It may be a completely different atmosphere, but I am excited to go out and explore what is in store for me. University of Michigan Class of 2017 10 Religious School GETTING BACK TOGETHER – SHAPING THE FUTURE It is that time of year – back to school is everywhere! It is with great anticipation that I look forward to the opening days of our Religious School and the Gesher After School Program. Every year brings new excitement and of course new challenges. I look forward to enjoying the sounds of excitement as the students see old friends and teachers. Walking through our hallways hearing the Hebrew language, the sounds of music and looking at the creative art projects that the students are working on is the greatest joy of an educator. The school buzz during the first few weeks of school is what sets the tone for the rest of the year. One thing is for sure: our school year will be exciting, innovative and a happy educational experience. It is a new and exhilarating beginning for our TKAE High School graduates who are starting their adult lives away from home – in colleges and universities. I know for sure that they will be guided by the knowledge and ethics they have gained here at TKAE during their many years of Jewish education. I wish them a hearty good luck! Upcoming Dates: •Sunday, September 22@ 9am – Religious School First Day of School Assembly (grades K-6th) with parents – in the Sanctuary followed by Meet & Greet in your child’s classroom – followed by breakfast with Rabbi Needleman in the Ballroom •Friday, September 27th @ 6pm – Simchat Torah Service & Kindergarten Consecration •Tuesday, October 1st @ 6:30pm – First Day of Judaic Middle & High School (grades 7th – 12th) – Welcome time for students with Rabbi Needleman & Clergy with free pizza •Sunday, October 27th @ 9am – Family Program for grades K, 1st & 2nd with parents JACK HENRY KAPP Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El has been my spiritual home and fostered my love of Judaism since I was two years old. I can remember singing in the halls of the pre-school, receiving my siddur in second grade and both Rabbi Harr and Cantor preparing me for my Bar Mitzvah. My 16 years at Kol Ami and my relationships formed with my teachers and clergy provided me with a strong moral foundation and helped shape and mold me into the person that I am today. As I move on to college, I look forward to exploring new avenues of growth and continued expansion of my understanding of my Jewish heritage and Jewish personal identity through intellectual, social, spiritual and communal experiences at Hillel. I expect that my relationship with my religion will serve as a bond between who I am in South Florida and who I will be at Cornell University. As I plan to pursue different intellectual pathways at Cornell, my Judaism provides a robust structure as the Talmud teaches the lessons of maintaining a rigorous work ethic and also making sure that I return back to my community through Tzedakah. Cornell Class of 2017 11 SIMONA SKLASH Religious School Director “The sounds of music and looking at the creative art projects that the students are working on is the greatest joy of an educator.” Simona Sklash P.T.O. I recently had a most wonderful new beginning; I planted a garden in my backyard and asked that my daughters help me in whatever capacity they could. Of course, they willingly put on their garden gloves and dug in the dirt, even threw the seeds in (after our not so careful planning of what should be planted adjacent). Every morning and every night the little helpers dredged out the hose to help water our seeds. And within a week, the four of us stood back to admire that our seeds had sprouted and were well on their way to their current state of bearing fresh produce all intermingled and wrapped around one another. From this new beginning my children and I have learned to care for this multitude of plants in their intermingled state. I see that new beginning as a perfect metaphor for my newest beginning, as PTO President of the Early Childhood Program. The parents of our school come from various backgrounds and yet we all share the same goal of providing our children the best education and have found ourselves in the same garden. I can only hope that we will wrap our arms around one another and embrace the differences that make us unique in fostering a true sense of community and togetherness for our children, in the same way my garden has. I endeavor, with my fellow board members, to take care of that which has come before us, to offer diligence, perspective and fresh ideas in fostering a sense of friendship and togetherness in our parent group that will bring a true sense of community to our school. Our fresh ideas this year will have us alternating between monthly PTO meetings and monthly morning out breakfasts at various locations, having family nights centered more on our children’s interests, taking a greater role in the gift shop (in partnership with Brotherhood) that has been relocated to the Early Childhood building, volunteering at soup kitchens, bringing our children a Havdalah workshop learning about the beginning of each week, and so much more, while remaining truly focused on the spirit of togetherness. Jewish Film Series Thursday, October 10th, 12 pm Feel free to bring your lunch! “Praying in Her Own Voice” This powerful film documents the struggle of a religious females’ group called Women of the Wall – a movement for equality next to the Kotel, perhaps the holiest place on earth for Jews. The story of the Women of the Wall gives an in-depth look into the status of women in Israeli public life. It’s a film that raises many questions about the battle of the sexes within the religious Jewish world. TKAE.ORG YOUTH PROGRAM A Place to Call Home! this month mark the beginning of a new Jewish year and a new school Notyear, onlybutdoes it also marks a fresh start for the youth program at Kol Ami Emanu-El. JOSH SIMON Youth Director While the program isn’t new, there is still a feeling around the synagogue that it is being reborn. I am only one part of the energy that can be felt around KAFTY, MiSTY and KATONTY. As the school year starts, students are beginning new classes and taking part in new experiences. Their involvement in youth group could play a big role in shaping those experiences. If your child hasn’t been to a youth program before I encourage them to give it a try. What makes youth group so amazing is that there really is something for everyone. Last month we started the year off with an overnight for the members of KAFTY. We joined the congregation for Shabbat services before heading out to jump on the trampolines at Off the Wall. Then we spent the night in our brand new youth lounge. In between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, MiSTY kicked off their year with a couple of games of Laser Tag and a beautiful Havdalah service. KATONTY will start the new year with an afternoon at Sawgrass Mills Mall. We’ll have lunch at the Rain Forest Café before going to GameRoom to play the day away. If you have been in the building lately, you’ve seen many changes, not just the new people, like Rabbi Needleman, myself or the new caterers. We have a beautiful new floor in the lobby, the Library has moved to the Chapel and the room where the Library used to be is a brand new Youth Lounge and our new home. Thanks to some amazing donors we have all the accommodations of home and really never need to leave. If you haven’t had the chance to see the space, feel free to stop by and take look. While you’re here please introduce yourself. #TKAE YOUTH When I made the decision to pack up and move here, it was because I felt that this congregation and specifically the youth program were on the verge of something special. We are on our way to turning our new beginning into something that will thrive for years to come. He is also an accomplished hip hop dancer, having recently started his seventh year with Hip Hop Kidz, now a member of its elite Cast Crew. Born in Israel, Roy and his family moved to Florida when he was a year old, and have been members of Kol Ami since 2002. He graduated from the Day School where he was the president of student government and a recipient of the Pinnacle Award. For his mitzvah project, Roy has chosen to help inspire and amuse children fighting cancer and their families by performing magic tricks at the Ronald McDonald House in Fort Lauderdale. NOAH ENGELHARD - September 28 Noah Engelhard is a 13 year old who lives with his parents, Stefani and Brett and 9 year old brother Brayden. He loves to play competitive baseball and enjoys most outdoor activities. He enjoys the company of his friends and family and is always seeking new and adventurous activities. Noah will be celebrating his Bar Mitzvah on September 28, 2013 and he has been working very hard in achieving this huge accomplishment. His mitzvah project will be a collaboration of his two passions.. Sports and helping those in need. HAYLEY LANDMAN - October 5 We have been members of Temple Kol Ami Emanuel for 16 years. Both of our children Hayley and Natalie had their baby namings here at the Temple. Hayley and Natalie began to cultivate their Jewish education by attending the Temple’s Early Childhood Program. By attending the religious school here at the Temple, both Hayley and Natalie have learned so much regarding Judaica and the Hebrew language. They especially look forward to Hebrew school during the Jewish Holidays as the Religious School always puts on festive events. Hayley will become a Bat Mitzvah this October. Hayley is a straight A Honor roll student at Indian Ridge Middle School. She is also a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Hayley is a recipient of the Golden Kippah Award from Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El for excellence in completing her Bat Mitzvah studies. She is a bright young lady who is always interested in helping her Jewish community with Tikkun Olam (healing the world) as she always tries to find ways to give back to her community. For her Mitzvah project, Hayley has chosen to raise money for Celiac disease. Her project is called Crafts for Celiac. She is selling handmade decorated items where all monies are donated to this cause. She chose Celiac disease because a young classmate in her school has this condition and she wanted to help raise funds and bring awareness to find a cure for this auto-immune disorder. We couldn’t be happier that we are part of such a wonderful Temple and Jewish community. MICHAEL AND JOSHUA GELLER - October 12 Michael Andrew Geller and Joshua Isaac Geller were born August 23, 2000 in Atlanta, GA just one minute apart. They will be entering the 8th grade in Hebrew and public school. They have been attending TKAE since third grade while proudly maintaining almost perfect attendance in public and religious schools. Even though they were born in Atlanta, they are South Florida sports enthusiasts loving the Hurricanes, Heat and Dolphins. Sadly, their grandmother passed away last year resulting in their grandfather coming to live with them. Fortunately, this has created a loving experience. They have both become wonderful care givers for their grandfather making sure he eats properly, takes his medications on time and keeping him 88 years young while interacting with their friends. Everyday becomes a new experience for them as they learn from their grandfather’s many stories. Reliving their grandfather’s past has made Michael and Joshua cherish and appreciate family even more today. AIDAN GREENSTEIN - October 19 Aidan Greenstein turns 13 on September 18, 2013 and celebrates his Bar Mitzvah on October 19, 2013. He lives with his parents, Jason and Susan and his 9 year old brother, Cole. He is a 7th grade student at University School. Aidan enjoys playing baseball, football and basketball and will enthusiastically participate in most any outdoor activity. He is a good friend and brother and when not playing a sport enjoys spending free time with his friends. Aidan plans to volunteer his time to help children with special needs learn to play sports as his mitzvah project. HUNTER BECKER-GREENE - October 26 Hunter and his family are new to Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El. He and his family have enjoyed Friday evening services and were impressed with the family activities throughout the year. Since our inception we have celebrated thousands of b’nai mitzvah, and uncounted numbers of baby namings, consecrations, confirmations, weddings, anniversaries and other joyous lifecycle events. We have also stood by each other during challenging times: a shoulder to cry on, someone to hug, a caring committee to help with shiva – this is our Temple family. Your charitable contributions to Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El will help ensure that the values and ideas, the celebrations and unique occasions, which have linked our people in an unbreakable chain of tradition for three thousand years will be perpetuated for future generations. Your contributions will have a meaningful effect on the lives of the thousands to whom Kol Ami Emanu-El is home as well as the people beyond our walls who we continue to help. TEMPLE KOL AMI Planned Giving & Endowment The future of Reform Judaism and our Temple belongs to those who will follow us. Our task is to provide future generations with the resources to keep our Temple healthy and vibrant so that our children and their children’s children will have a “Center of Our Jewish Community” in which to model their own understanding of their tradition. Our Temple’s state-of-the-art educational facilities and our dynamic youth programming teach our children about the beauty and relevance of our heritage as they mark the milestones of their lives. Our Temple celebrations of Chanukah, Purim, Pesach and Mitzvah Day teach our children about the beauty, joy and fun of our tradition while simultaneously teaching them about our history, calling and promise for a better tomorrow for all humankind. Please contact Lori Wellins, at [email protected] to learn more about our program of planned giving ‘L’Dor Vador’ “From Generation to Generation.” EMANU-EL CARES Soup Kitchen Volunteers Needed B roward Partnership for the Homeless provides over 200,000 meals a year.
