The history of PGA Catalunya, ranked 2nd in Spain, 3rd in Europe
and, most recently, ranked 88th in the world, is as extraordinary as

The story begins in 1992 when PGA European Tour board member
and former tournament professional Ángel Gallardo was asked to
look at the possibility of developing a purpose-built golf course in
Spain. It was on this 300-hectare estate that Gallardo instantly saw
the potential for what he believed could be one of the greatest golf
courses in the world. With the help of European Tour golf legend
Neil Coles, the Stadium Course took shape.

When PGA Catalunya opened in 1999, it immediately hosted the
Sarazen World Open, won by Thomas Bjorn, and the Spanish Open
in 2000 and again in 2009. Colin Montgomerie, who competed in
the Spanish Open, told Gallardo that it was an outstanding golf
course – and numerous golf magazines agreed, immediately
ranking it among Top 10 Courses in Europe.
The Tour Course opened to acclaim in 2005 as an enjoyable,
generous golf course, ideal for resort play, and played co-host
several times to the European Tour’s Qualifying School Finals
alongside the Stadium Course.

among the 10 Best European Golf Courses since
its opening date. Originally designed for high-level
competitions, the Stadium Course has several
different tee boxes and multiple pin positions for

required by the Stadium Course are given a second
opportunity to demonstrate their talents on the
Tour Course. Set amongst lakes and pine trees,
the Tour Course is a shorter, yet equally enjoyable
Ángel Gallardo and Neil Coles creation designed to
challenge players of all levels.
Most holes on this course have wide fairways and bunkers placed
strategically around the greens, where less-than-perfect shots are
forgiven. Risk-taking players are also rewarded, especially on the
Par-5 holes. This unique course encourages players to use all their
skills and complete range of clubs.
The challenges are born through its status as the resident course
for the PGA European Tour Qualifying School.
