Medellín is the capital and largest city of the department of Antioquia, Colombia,
and the second most populous city. It is located in the natural region known as the
Aburrá Valley, in the central Andes, becoming the largest urban center in such
branch of the Andean mountain range. It straddles the Medellín river which crosses
from south to north, and is the core of the metropolitan area of Valle de Aburrá.
The city has a population of 2,441,123 inhabitants (2014), while this figure,
including the metropolitan area totals 3,731,447 people (2014).
As a provincial capital, Medellin is the seat of the Government of Antioquia, the
Departmental Assembly, the Superior Court of the District of Medellin Metropolitan
Area and the Attorney General. Also seated in her various public enterprises,
institutions and agencies of the Colombian state. As a financial, commercial and
industrial center is home to national and international companies in sectors such as
textiles, clothing, metallurgical, energy, finance, health, telecommunications,
construction, automotive, and food, among others.
SPORT:
Football is one of the most popular sports in the city. The five professional teams in
the metropolitan area of Medellín are Atlético Nacional, Deportivo Independiente
Medellin, Itagüi Ditaires, Envigado and Rionegro FC Football Club
The main city leagues are Athletics, basketball, handball, baseball, cycling,
fencing, football, gymnastics, judo, karate, microfútbol, skateboard, motorcycling,
swimming, skating, weightlifting (weightlifting), softball, taekwondo, shuffleboard,
tennis field, volleyball, chess, table tennis and beach volleyball.
A popular sport in Medellin, and generally throughout Antioquia, is riding therefore
has encouraged trade and production of tools and equipments for this activity, such
as chairs and shoes for export. During the Feria de las Flores Medellín cavalcades
achieved a Guinness Record 1996 and 1999.
In 1978, Medellin hosted the XIII Central American and Caribbean Games, and

Overview "Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot"
On infrastructure, Medellin has several sports venues located in different districts
of the city, in which the community can access them for free.

Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot: It is the main sports area of the city.
It covers an area of 280,000 m² and stadiums and brings together fields for
practice and competition in 34 sports. There are the headquarters of most
sports leagues.

Andrés Escobar Sport Unit: This is the second sports complex of the city,
has an area of 106 000 m². It has two swimming pools, tennis field, four
tennis, shuffleboard, two plates for microfútbol, a stage for archery seven
soccer fields, one of grass, four tennis to basketball, a running track a
playground, a fitness unit, green areas, and tennis for microfútbol grit.
Other sports include units that are even smaller scale: Unidad Deportiva La
Floresta, has an area of 54 000 m² has a tennis microfútbol a gritty football
and two basketball courts. Sports Unit Doce de Octubre, has an area of 28
000 m². It has a pool, soccer field in grit, basketball courts and green areas.
Maria Luisa Calle Sports Complex adjacent to Aeroparque Juan Pablo II,
has an area of 28,233 sqm, has three soccer fields and six synthetic turf,
racing rink, skating rink to route four squash courts , playground, two sports
plates and a platform for aerobics. Sports Unit of Miraflores, has an area of
30,000 m². It has football field, two basketball courts, a tennis grit and a
sports board. Sports Unit Los Alcazares, has an area of 4000 square

ENTRY INFORMATION.
Athletes will be eligible to participate in the Second International Paralympic Athletics
Open, Medellín, November 2014 shall meet the following requirements:
a. Having served 14 years at the time of competition.
b. Foreign athletes have a 2014 IPC license active.
c. Having health coverage (or SISBEN EPS) in the case of foreign assistance card.
d. Not required admission criteria or marks to enter the competition exemption test jump.

REGISTRATION FEE.
a. The registration fee is USD $ 100 per participant, the value is per person and
includes logistical and operational cost of the event; This does NOT cover food,
lodging or inland transportation and other expenses not specified, these are the
responsibility of each delegation participating in the event.

13.
PROBATE OF REGISTRATION.
a. Legalization of entries will be made in the development of the event and it will be
accepted only in the formats generated by consignment COLPATRIA bank and the
account number provided. No cash payments or after completion of the event will
be accepted.
b. All payments for entries are not refundable.
14. REGULATION.
a. The II International Open Athletics Paralympic be governed under the existing
Regulations for IPC Athletics and IAAF.
b. In competition they strictly comply with the rules and regulations of IPC
Athletics version from 2014 to 2015.
15. CLASSIFICATION.
a. Will be held on 17, 18 and 19 November, National classification CPC bid for the
new system Colombian Paralympic athletes, whom sele must perform the request
to the time of registration.
16. AWARDS.
a. The award with the rule of least 1 will be held until they are at least three
different athletes delegation.
b. Guides competing in track as required by regulations of the IPC will be
awarded.
c. When register within 3 athletes in a race and gender classification test is

When IPC Athletic regulation permits RACE system table which will be used for
comparison purposes only event field was applied. In track events, medals will
be awarded based on the positions held by each of the athletes after the race.
17. ACCREDITATION.
Every sportsman, technician, assistant, or another member of the delegation must
be accredited by completing your details in the respective forms.
18. EVENTS.
a. Each delegation may enter a maximum three athletes per event and class.
b. Each athlete may enter a maximum of four (4) events.
c. The number of events and categories may be subject to change depending on the
final number of entries.
19. CALENDAR OF COMPETENCE.
The competition schedule can be found on the website of the Colombian Paralympic
Committee http://www.cpccolombia.org/. Please note that this schedule is subject to
change based on the final number of entries changes. The final program will be available
after the workshop and distributed in ICT, and online registration.
20.
INFORMATIONAL MEETING.
a. Date: Wednesday, November 20, 2014, 14:00 am in the auditorium of the track
("Alfonso Galvis Duque")
b. Only the income of two delegates per delegation or NPC is allowed.
c. Questions: Questions for the workshop can only be made in writing and be

21. TECHNICAL INFORMATION CENTER AND RECORDS.

23. IMPLEMENTS OF COMPETITION.
a. Implementation will be provided and made available by the Organizing
Committee.
b. Implements may also be personal and should be checked the day before
the event start.
24. COMPETITION NUMBERS OR NUMBERS.
a. Each athlete will receive four issues; All athletes must submit them for entry into
the chamber called this should be complete without any physical changes or bent

to the House of call.

b. Athletes not submitted on time in the House Called without a valid reason (eg
